1. My 'bino zennie is named AnShoji. The anime that his name is taken from also has the characters Tsukasa, Bear, Mimiru, Subaru, Sora and BT. What's the name of the anime? (Bonus point to anyone who can tell me the origin of BT's name.)(2 pts) -Of course, it's .hack//SIGN, also known as "dot hack." BT took her name from a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich (BLT) without the lettuce. (Online sources say it's because she doesn't like the lettuce and so she keeps taking it out of the sandwich, but I seem to remember watching a scene where she tells Bear that every time she ordered a BLT, the restaurant kept forgetting to put in the lettuce and that's why she used the name. But it was so long ago I might have misremembered or misunderstood.)
2. I also have four ginger zennies named GenjyoSanzo, ChuHakkai, ShaGojo, and SonGokku. These are the names of characters from which anime and manga? (Bonus point to anyone who can tell me what work the anime was originally based on, and I don't mean the manga.)(2 pts) -Of course it's Gensomaden Saiyuki (also called just Saiyuki) and its sequels. (And it's probably my most favorite anime ever.) And despite the badass tone of the anime, it actually has quite venerable origins... I mean, the 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West is just about as classical as you can get, right?
3. What's the relationship between Ranma and Ranko Saotome? :P (Bonus point for telling me how this came about.) (2 pts) -They're the same person. The boy Ranma fell into a cursed spring and was cursed to turn into a girl, Ranko, everytime cold water touched him (hot water changes him back, of course).
4. Name the manga and anime character who can command the eight Flame Dragons (Karyuu). (1 pt) -Recca Hanabishi, from Flame of Recca.
Bonus question: This old manga and anime series featured a trio of sisters who lead a double life as art thieves. What is its name? (And bonus points to anyone who can tell me how the name is related to the story.)(3 pts) -The drama is called Cat's Eye. The girls themselves are referred to as Cat's Eye when they do the robberies, mainly because of the calling cards they leave behind, as sharp as shurikens and with the emblem of a red cat on them. It's a wonder that no one ever tumbled to connecting this to their real identities, since the girls also own and run a cafe named Cat's Eye.
