"Hey there! Welcome to the Treasure Trove! I'm Miro and this here is Akua!"
You are startle by a red-headed young girl beaming at you as a giant, sparkling gold Haberisar stands protectively by her side. Slightly creeped out, you contemplate exiting quickly and quietly through the rickety wooden door through which you entered. However, the girl doesn't even give you time to take a step toward the door.
She beams at you and speaks again. "You here to adopt a Seeker?"
"A Seeker?" you ask, not having the heart to leave the enthusiastic girl.
The girl, Miro, tilts her head to the side and furrows her brow. "You've never heard of a Seeker?" She steps closer, eying you from head to toe. As she does this, the Haberisar steps even closer and sniffs at you. You off-handedly notice the creature has a slight limp in its step and its eyes are completely white. 'It must be blind,' you think to yourself; however, your mind is otherwise occupied by how uncomfortable you feel in such close proximity to this stranger and her pet. You want to back away, but you're afraid that if you do, the giant dinosaur might chase after you.
The girl looks up at you through her black-rimmed glasses and, seeing your discomfort, steps back. The Haberisar steps back as well, but still keeps a leg firmly between you and its owner. The girl does not seem to acknowledge the behavior of her pet and continues to scrutinize your posture, facial expressions, and your attire, albite, from a distance you are more comfortable with this time. "You're not from around here, are you?" she asks as she places a hand on the back of her Haberisar's neck. Before you can even open your mouth, she giggles and continues to speak. "Of course not. If you were, you'd know what a Seeker was."
You wonder whether that was meant to be an insult while the girl goes back behind the counter, her Haberisar limping right on her heels. As you wait for her to find something under the counter, you finally get the chance to look around the shop. It's a good-sized shop, not too big, not too small. There is a couch on the right wall and a small table next to it. A floor-to-ceiling bookshelf covers the wall opposite the couch and for a moment you wonder how a girl so short can reach the books on the top shelf. The only light sources in the room are from the windows, a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling, and a few small floor lamps near the back of the store. There are dozens of gold and silver chains hanging from the ceiling and some of them have gemstones of various colors hanging from them. In the back-right corner is a spiral staircase which, you think, must lead up to the girl's bedroom. The place is an orderly mess; however, what really catches your eye are the three doors behind the long counter. There is an old, wooden door on either side of a larger, polished, chestnut door. The center door has a small window which you just make out glimpses of grass, trees, and water on the other side.
Your attention is torn from the door as the girl finally produces two small treasure treasure chests and one larger chest from underneath the counter and places them in front of you. "Treasure Seekers, or simply Seekers, are creatures that spend their days in the grasslands, forests, and waters of this world searching for treasure. Seekers are very kind creatures and people 'round here like to keep them as pets."
You look at the treasure chests on the counter and then back at her. "What are these for?"
She chuckles as if it is the silliest question she has ever heard, but ceases her snickering once she realizes how clueless you really are. "These are the chests that are used to attract the Seekers. You pick one, walk into either the forest, grasslands, or stand on the shore right behind this door," she points to the chestnut door directly behind her and continues, "and then a Seeker will come to you. After that, it is up to you to form a bound with the Seeker and take them home and care for them." The girl sees you eyeing the chests and gestures to them. "Go ahead and open them."
You open the first small chest and inside is a
Green Gem!
"These attract male Seekers and they cost 3 million TU."
You open the second small chest and inside is a
Purple Gem!
"These attract female Seekers and they are also 3 million TU."
You step over to the largest of the treasure chests and open it to find
Absolutely Nothing!
You look at the girl with a questioning look. "Oh! That one's the customizable chest! It costs 7 million TU, but it's worth it. You get to pick what you put in the chest and therefore, you get a completely customized Seeker!"
You nod in understanding and the girl leans her elbows on the counter while the Haberisar rests its chin directly beside her left elbow. While the dinosaur-like creature may be blind, you have an overwhelming sense that it somehow knows your every move. As you contemplate paying for a Seeker of your own, the girl suddenly seems to remember something else. "Oh! I forgot to show you something!"
She swings around the counter, grabs your forearm and pulls you to the leftmost door behind the counter. She pushes the door and it creaks as it swings open. The girl flicks on the lights and you step inside the room to see that the dusty, old door did not do the room justice. Inside the back room, the walls are lined with shelves of bottles filled with colorful liquids and other trinkets. Each bottle looks as if it has just been polished and each trinket looks as though it has never been touched before. Every shelf is labeled in neat, elegant sc
ript with a different body part and each potion is labeled in the same graceful handwriting. The girl explains, "This is where we keep the potions and accessories. Once you get your Seeker, you can buy one of these potions for them and they will alter a certain body part! Don't worry, it doesn't hurt them! In fact, most Seekers like the feeling they get." The girl looks at you and then sees you gawking at the colorful potions and sparkly objects. She steps to the side of the doorway and motions to the many shelves. "You can take a look around if you'd like."
You start at the first shelf labeled "Head"
On this shelf, there are
Magenta Potions!
These are labeled, "Short Horns ~ 100k"
Lime Green Potions!
These are labeled, "Long Horns ~ 150k"
Yellow Potions!
These are labeled, "Rhino Horns ~ 100k"
Teal Potions!
These are labeled, "Feather Whiskers ~ 200k"
Dark Blue Potions!
These are labeled, "Saber Tooth Fangs ~ 150k"
And the last color potion on this shelf is the
Green Potions!
These are labeled, "Short Fangs ~ 100k"
You move on to the next shelf labeled, "Legs"
The first color on this shelf is the
Red Potions!
These are labeled, "Elbow Tufts ~ 200k"
The only other color on this shelf is the
Purple Potions!
These are labeled, "Claws ~ 50k"
The third shelf has no label and only has two colors of potions.
These are labeled "Markings ~ 50-300k"
The girl explains from the doorway, "Those potions add or remove any one marking to your Seeker. The price depends on how large and intricate the marking is."
The only other color of potion on this shelf is the
Brown Potions!
These are labeled "Aging ~ 500k"
The girl continues to explain from the doorway, "Those brown ones will age a baby Seeker into an adult."
You nod to her, take one last glance at the wall of black and brown and then move on to the final shelf labeled, "Body". Instead of colorful potions, this shelf has many different trinkets and accessories.
On this shelf, there is a
Dragon Bone!
These bones are labeled "Dragon Wings ~ 500k"
Enchanted Feather!
These feathers are labeled "Bird Wings ~ 500k"
There is only one color potion which is the
Orange Potions!
These are labeled "Spine Fur ~ 300k"
You notice that half of this shelf is also littered with various
Jewelry and Stuff!
These are labeled "Accessories ~ 100-400k"
As you finish looking at a particularly nice-looking necklace, you realize you have come full-circle around the room and are now back at the door. The girl smiles at you as she ushers you out of the room. She shuts the door firmly; however, the door is so old that it creaks back open and is left slightly ajar. This does not bother the girl at all and she looks back up at you. "You can come back to this room once you've got your Seeker."
As you step away from the door, the girl's Haberisar hobbles over to the door and carefully lays down in a manner such that anyone who would want to get into the room would have to disturb the Haberisar to do so.
For a moment, you're lost in thought, wondering how exactly the dinosaur-like creature got the limp; however, you're pulled out of your thoughts as the girl tugs on your shirt and gestures for you to follow. You take one last look at the resting Haberisar and then follow the girl past the large chestnut door to the other small door adjacent to the chestnut one. The sign on this door reads "Breeding Area ~ Do Not Enter".
The girl looks at you and giggles. "I don't think you want to go in there." It takes you a moment, but you begin blush furiously as you realize what exactly she means by her comment. She lets out a small giggle before continuing, "You can breed two of your own Seekers or your Seeker and a friend's. All you need is a something to attract the two Seekers to each other." She reaches into a basket near the door and produces a
Gold Coin!
"These cost 5 million TU. A Seeker litter is normally 1 or 2 Seekers, but if you're lucky you may get 3 Seekers!"
You flip the coin over once in your palm and then place it back in the basket and follow the girl back to the counter. She reaches under the counter and produces a large photo album with the word "Sales" written on the cover. "Here is where we keep record of every Seeker that we've sold."
You flip the book open and notice that every page has one picture, the gender and origin of the Seeker (ie forest, field, water), and the name of the owner. Some have names underneath their picture, but the girl explains that not all owners choose names right away.
You look at the first page and see
Example, the Female Field-Dwelling Seeker
Owner: Mirona
Intrigued, you flip to the next page and see another Seeker with the same owner.
Green, the Male Field-Dwelling Seeker
Owner: Mirona
The girl smiles at you. "Well, that's the end of the tour. Now all you have to do is choose a gem and the place you want to search! You can choose between the grasslands, forest, or the waters. Each place has slightly different Seekers, but they're all generally the same. And if you buy a customizable chest, just write down exactly what you'd like and I'll take care of the rest."
