Lab Child

I can run, I can breathe, when I talk I’m just like you
Why then, does that make me less than human?
I can taste, I can touch, I can cry and feel so much
More than my mother ever dreamed I could
I am her pride and joy, a real girl waiting for a real boy
So what if my components are not quite like yours?
I laugh and I scream, I fall asleep... yet I can never dream
Is that what stops me being one of you?
My brain is a computer, yes, but then so is yours
And mine will not decay away as yours one day shall
Shouldn’t that mean that I am better?
Why then, does it feel like I am so much worse?
