; But a tablet is extreamely helpfull though. Kind of like trying to paint a miural with RoseArt brushes. Do-able, just highly inneficient. And if you don't like to put forth unescesary extra work, then..

If you're ever spoiled on one, you'll never want to go back to using a mouse. Though tablets do take some getting used to.

If you go buy a tablet before even knowing a thing about digital art. You may not take interest to it and waste your money. As I have said, I have seen two people end up this way. Drawing with a mouse only limits you by it allowing you to use the pressure feature found on many art software. After about half a year drawing with a mouse, I could draw anything I like, at a fairly quick pase. It will not make you slower or limit your drawing abilities with practice. Do not be frightened to use one.

Well. I beg to differ. I drew with a mouse for a long time before I got a tablet as well, and I can say with certainty that tablets make life a lot easier once you get the hang of them.

Then, everyone has personal preferences.

GIMP is free (and not copywrited like Photoshop).

 

That's just the one I'm most familiar with. There are a bunch more.

I find myself better with GIMP as well. :3 I can't seem to get the hang of photoshop for some reason. :(

I use Photoshop 'cause it came free with my computer (or included with the price, but no one knows...). So, yeah...

Cool, I already new about the layers and such. Is a tablet really worth it? I mean I can't draw well with a mouse.

I like working with my mouse. My computer hates Gimp, but it seems to work okay with SAI. I like SAI.

I use a tablet,  but I did use a mouse before.  And if I absolutly had to, I could go back to using one.  But not without a lot or whining, pouting, and crying over it.  :)  Tablets are great if you know what you're doing, but I agree with Ping.  you should start out on a mouse, like people start out in training wheels.

I use an Adobe Business thing.  My mom bought it, I think, but I'm not sure.  ^^  Iz great, but took a lot of getting used to from using paint.  XP



I have to get this thing to level 1,000. Please, help.

SalPal: ive seen many go for $100 and over new at stores so yeah...,

my mother is thinkin about gettin me one so ive been practicing with a mouse, and a few different art programs,
