CHAPTER 1: I wake up. I am in a strange place. It is very dark. I do not remember anything but my name and how to speak. I rub my eyes and get up. But my eyes are still filled with darkness from the small amount of light in the room and black walls. I stand, and realize that there is no doors and no windows.
I am trapped.
I try to think. Where am I? Who put me here? Am I dreaming? Will I ever get an answer? I'm sure I will.
Then I hear a strange voice. "Hello, Katrina. Didn't know you were awake." They know my name. How did they see me? How did I hear them?
I couldn't help but answer to them. "Who are you? How do you see me? How do you know my name?"
They answer, "Now Katrina, it isn't polite to ask a lot of questions at once. I am a scientist, I see you because of cameras, and I know your name because I can see your dreams. I guess you have some memory loss."
"M-Memory loss?" I say.
"I think so, but I'm not sure. I'll get more machines to see." The scientist answers.
"NO! LET ME OUT!" I say while banging on the wall with both fists.
Then the very dim light turns into no light as I fall.
My eyes close.
CHAPTER 2: I wake up in the same place I fell asleep. I stand and say, "Tell me I was dreaming."
I knew I wasn't because the scientist answered, "Sorry, you weren't." with a chuckle.
I groan at the answer. "So, tell me 'scientist', how can I hear you, and how can you hear me?"
"Well, there's microphones and speakers in your room and in my lab. We use the speakers to hear each other, and the microphones to speak to each other." the scientist answers.
I became mad at the answer. "WE? YOU AND ME ARE NOT BECOMING AWE!"
He answers, "Calm down, it was one word!"
"Whatever.." I say, rolling my eyes.
"So," the scientist says. "We will be bringing in people you know- or at least knew- for the next test."
"Test?" I say.
The scientist answers, "Yes, to test if you can get your memory back."
"Okay.." I answer.
Then a wall slides back. A person is behind it, and the person walks in as the wall slides back.
Without knowing, I say, "Aaron?"
CHAPTER 3: The person answers, "KATRINA!"
Who are they? How did I know their name? How did they know mine?
They run to me and wrap their arms around me.
Out of instinct, I wrap my arms around them.
Why?
"You remember me! I thought you lost your memory!" They say.
Then I have a vision. No, not a vision. A flashback. I think. It is of me when I was younger- I look about 12 or something- and the guy in front of me. I say, "Hey Aaron! What's up? You look worried."
He answers, "Nothing but," He clears his throat. "Will you go out with me?"
Then the flashback stops. He must be my boyfriend still.
I say, "Ya, um.. when I saw you I kinda just remembered you. I have no idea where I am either, do you..?"
They answer, "Ya, you're in a scientist's test room. You came in here when-" His voice drops to a whisper. "When they found out you had powers."
I say, "I have-" He stops me there with a hand over my mouth.
"Shhh... you don't want them to know more..." He says in a low voice.
I clear my throat. "Okay."
