Ch. 1

     I walk down the aisle at the municipal animal shelter. looking at all the animals seeing them all, beautiful, yet none reallly strike me. That is until I see a beautiful dog who seems to be of husky and shepard orient. Her coat a luxurous creamy brown, her eyes the colour of blue and pink alexandrite. I kneel on the ground and look up close at her fur, eyes and face in general. I stand up and call out to one of the as.sitants,

"Hello, Yes, I would love to take her home." I hold out my leash to him, he grabs it along with the collar, opens the door to her cage and switches her old ratty material collar and replaces it with my new blue/green suede one and tethers her with my leash. He tugs on it gently and she folow without resistance. He hands the lead to me and show me to the front desk where I fill out some paperwork.The woman at the desk helping me with it asks,

"What's your name?"

"Emilie Annette Amities" I reply happily, excited at getting a new pet.

"Okay. And what would you like to call her?" she asks pointing at the beautiful dog on my leather lead. Thinking back to her eyes I state calmly, 

"Alexandrite" 

Ch. 2

We walk  out of the shelter, owner and pet and head for home. Alexandrite will be a good friend for Stella. Alexandrite's young and Stella is getting old. I think about how my new mutt will get along with my old husky. Stella should like her. She's quite a nice dog. Both of them actually. Aleandrite sits in the front seat beside me pink tongue hanging out of her mouth, panting. She whines as we approach te house.
