Alright. This is a story that I started typing when I got bored. I hope you like it. I might write more, depending on how many comments this gets.

Chapter One

I woke up to the very annoying sound of my alarm clock. Today was another boring day. I just hoped that I don’t get mugged by another vamp. Yeah. I know vampires are out there, unlike most people. My last encounter with a vampire wasn’t a very happy one.

I was walking through the streets, minding my own business when, BAM! A guy, who seemed perfectly normal, came up to me and put a gun to my head. I backed up against the brick wall and looked at him, clearly terrified. He wasn’t there for my handbag or my cell phone. The next thing that I know, he’s yelling at me to pull my hair to the side. I did as he said. Then, an overwhelming pain hits me. And he’s drinking my blood.

Instinctively, I whack him in the head with my messenger bag, which, luckily for me, had a hard back book in it that day. He let go a moan of pain and fell to the ground. I held my neck and walked away, not bothering to call the police. They wouldn’t believe me.

That’s what my last encounter with a vamp was like.

I slammed my fist into my alarm clock, getting up and running a hand through my silky blonde hair. I stammered into the bathroom and looked at my face in the mirror. Oh god. My hair was a complete disaster. It was poking up in all directions and didn’t look like it was going to cooperate with me today. I took a shower and dried myself off, wrapping the damp towel around my torso. I plugged in my flattening iron and waited for it to warm up. My phone alerted me that I had received a text message with its usual ring.

I sprinted into my bedroom, careful not to let my towel fall down and expose myself. I read the text message. It read, Meet me at the docks. I read the number that it was sent from. I had no clue who this person was. Then, I received another text from the same number saying, If you want to know what happened in the alley that night, meet me at the docks. I dropped my phone and almost dropped my towel. They knew. Oh gosh. Was it the police? Was it the vampire? My phone buzzed one more time. I picked it up and read the newest text. Meet me there, or I’ll hunt you down myself. I felt like I couldn’t get enough air. I was terrified. Clearly, he knew who I was, and somehow, he knew my phone number. If he knew that, He knew where I lived.

After a few minutes of contemplating my choices, I chose to meet him. It was much better than being hunted down. I slipped on a comfortable, white sundress and some yellow flip flops. I lived near the beach, so those clothes were casual. I grabbed my car keys and headed out the door to the parking lot, where I would get in the car that would take me to him.

     ************

I jumped out of my car and clenched my keys with the hand that wasn’t shaking as bad. I truly was terrified. I mean, you would be terrified if you had no choice but to meet someone that, for all you know, could be the very vampire that attacked you.

I walked to the edge of the docks and sat down, I flopped my bright yellow shoes next to me. Just as I put my feet in the water, a tall, attractive man that looked to be my age, maybe a few years older, sat next to me. I nearly jumped into the water.

“If you make any moves to run to the police or do anything, I will tie a weight around your neck and throw you in the water.” His voice was menacing, yet comforting. It was sort of like a harsh way of telling me that if I didn’t do anything, he wouldn’t do anything. “Alright, let’s do our introductions. My name is Jake.” He paused, waiting for me to respond. Of course, I was so scared by then that I couldn’t respond. My mouth simply refused to work. He shook his head and groaned. “Your name is?”

“Katherine. Kat for short.” My mouth began to move, even though I didn’t want it to. It was almost as if he was making me talk. Maybe he was.

“Alright, Kat,” Jake grabbed my neck and made me look at him. I flinched when he grabbed my neck. My wounds from when that vampire bit me still hadn’t healed. “Ah, a newbie; you’ll need some help getting used to things.” I stared into his dark, dark eyes. I can’t remember anything from there. My mind is simply empty from there on, until now.
