A story for one of the currently unwritten books by me. It got a bit rushed near the end because these books are meant to be relatively short. Regardless, what do you think?

Long before Tesuri eggs could be uncovered in Atquati, they were found on the turbulent planet of Scria. It was many years ago that I, an unremarkable Scrian explorer, stumbled upon one of these delicate blue eggs.

I grunted silently to myself as my feet sunk deeper into the damp clouds; the frayed ends of my khakis already soaked from trekking through Scria’s vapors. As I progressively moved higher into the wispy clouds, the chilly gusts of wind became so harsh that they threatened to knock me over. But I kept going. I had no true destination, as it was the vocation of an explorer to travel unknown land.  But I wasn’t just any kind of explorer; I explored the highest places of the universe, where I was sure to discover something unknown to mankind. I—“Oh!”

My train of thought was shattered as I suddenly lurched forward, my foot catching on something hidden beneath the haze of which I trudged through. I gasped raucously as I landed in the icy mist. My arms, which had been outstretched as if to catch myself, sunk leisurely into the fog with a ploosh. For a diminutive moment, I lay there shuddering. What was that? I thought inquisitively. Very vigilantly, as if not to disturb anything, I shakily stood up. I squinted my eyes and peered questioningly into the fog, but it was no use. Whatever I had tripped over was veiled by the heavy miasma that drifted around me.

Gradually, I shifted closer to the area where my foot had caught. And then I saw it. At first, I had thought it to be a Drindian egg. Those were relatively common around here and it had a bluish tint to it. But as I approached it more enthusiastically, I realized I had been erroneous. There, nested in a swirl of ashen dew, was a luminous Tesuri egg. Excitement trilled through my body. These eggs were supposed to be rare! And the Creatu inside them… a set of strikingly powerful wings was the only image that came to mind. Without vacillating, I scooped up the sparkling egg in my arms. It was surprisingly warm, and the shell was so smooth that it seemed to luster. But it was heavy too.

I had only gone a short distance before I was panting from fatigue. A drop of cold sweat slid down the side of my face and I gripped the Tesuri egg tighter to my chest. How far had I walked? I gazed around me apprehensively. The thick pall of mist shrouded out everything that could’ve possibly been in sight. Timorous and fretful, I sat down, not even caring anymore whether my clothes were drenched or not. For the first time, I released the Tesuri egg and circumspectly set it down beside me. I trembled. After all of my elaborate hiking, sitting down was a relief; but at the height I was at, plus the squalling wind, it was also utterly cold.

Warmth. I needed fire. Without the slightest sound, I hastily furrowed my hands into my coat’s pockets until I felt the box of matches. My fingers were numb as I fumbled with the box, struggling to strike the match. Injudiciously, I slid off one of my boots and lit it. Holding the wader at arm’s-length away from me, I inhaled deeply as the heat turned the fog to tepid steam around me. Basking in the silence, even my bare foot no longer suffering, it surprised me implausibly when a loud CRACK split the air. The egg!

Alarmed, my head whirled around. No longer did the Tesuri egg rest in a vat of churning mist, but now in a small puddle of water. The vapors around the egg were ephemerally altering to liquid, droplets of water sliding down the egg. There was another clamorous crack and I watched in staggered wonder as the egg’s shell cracked and snapped repetitively. Distracted, the boot fell from my outstretched hand and fell into the humidity, the flame instantly extinguished. But I didn’t notice. First, there was a snout, followed by light blue, furry shoulders…

In only a trivial number of minutes, in front of me stood a wary, but healthy, young Tesuri. My attention completely absorbed in the Creatu, it sniffed and fluttered its pallid wings. My automatic reflex was to reach for the beautiful thing before it could fly away, but I thought better of it. I smiled ruefully at the Creatu and it stared back at me with wide eyes. And then before my exhausted mind could really comprehend it, I watched the Tesuri spread its wings and disappear… and reappear. It flew in circles above my head, seeming to be trying to articulate something. I gazed up at the youthful Tesuri in perplexity. Seeing as I wasn’t budging, the Tesuri abruptly let out a high-pitched whine. It wanted me to follow it.

With the help of my new friend, I found myself at the outskirts of The Town of Loyna in a succinct amount of time. Only when I set foot (with one bare) into the town did the Tesuri squeal and disappear into the skies. I didn’t see the Tesuri again.

Occasionally over the years, a young person who was lucky enough to find themselves a Tesuri egg would come to me persisting on the knowledge; the knowledge of how to hatch a Tesuri egg. So many times I have unreservedly given them the answer. But now I am entering my old age, and my mind seems to be withering away. Due to that, I have written out the story, this story, for many to read and seek their own answers.

       Good luck, my friend.

Thanks, Reeses. The only hard part will be keeping my writing coherent to Res.

You're welcome.  I have the opposite problem.  You see, I want to be an author when I grow up.  I only get inspiration and be able to write something from virtual pet sites.  ._.  And that's not good for me because they own the information.  Where did you get avatar by the way?

I like the use of words. Which is ... about the most ambiguous thing I could possibly say, but what I mean by it is that the vocabulary is used to make a slightly humorous tone, and more creatively than is usual, too. (Like 'diminuitive moment'. The 'gasped raucously' part is pushing it, though - it can mean rough or harsh, which fits in this, but more often it means sort of loud and boisterous, which doesn't. 'Persisting on the knowledge' doesn't seem quite right, either.) But other than that it's okay. Nice concept, to use an explorer. You're making me want to write more Res-themed stuff now. xD

I don't understand your note about the 'gasped raucously' part. Either meaning would fit just fine in the sentence. Regardless, I'm amused to hear that you my vocabulary somewhat 'humorous'. I may've gone slightly overboard.

Thank you for your critique, and good luck with your own writing. ;)
