Millie?
Yes?
Where's the East pole?
I sighed with exasperation at my little brother's constant questions .
Trust you to think of that Jamie. There isn't one .
I heard the familiar little gasp and-
ISNT ONE?!How can there not be one? There's a North pole and a South pole so...
His voice trailed of. I knew he was thinking hard because he was biting his tiny nails down to his knuckles [an infuriating habit of his that he knows annoys me] .
W- we - we have to go there! Like , right now! We can pack, er, ah ha ,this and that.
He said snatching my hairbrush right out of my hand and stuffing it in a huge neon blue rucksack with bright orange spots on it.
I knew it was time to act. I rushed into the garden and set to work...
1 HOUR LATER
Jamie?
U hu?
I've got a surprise for you!
Ooo what is it? what is it? wha- hey get this blindfold thingy of me Millie!
I can't just yet. Come on and you'll see the surprise!
He stopped struggling and loosened up a little then allowed me to lead him out into the overgrown garden.
1...2...3!
I yanked the material of Jamie's eyes and he squealed with delight . I had gathered up some cushions and laid them in a mountain like pile then sprinkled leaves over them then put some soft toys on it for the 'mountain creatures'. He seemed satisfied , jumping around and laughing at his discovery.
[mum was mad at me though 'cause she said I'd ruined her cushions]
this was a very short story wasn't it?
