Pokémon Adventure
Chap.1
I turned in my bed. I could feel hot wind blowing in my face. I cringed. I opened my eyes. A great yellow Dragonite was watching me. When I looked at it I wondered at the same time, how long has it been here? and how did it get in my room? But my thoughts were in vain because I wasn’t in my room. I was in the champion’s room in the Indigo Plateau. At least, I thought I was because I never really been there before.
As I got up, I brushed off my blue overalls and gazed at the Dragonite. It turned its back on me and returned to its owner. A man with spiky light red hair held up his hand to pet the creature. He had a long cape that drooped from his shoulders to his shoes. He held a sphere in his hand, and I recognized it as a Dusk Ball. A red beam shot from the sphere and another Dragonite appeared. I stared at the man in the cape. “Are you ready Soul? You are about to face the most powerful dragon trainer in the entire Johto and Kanto region. I will not take it easy on you. Go Dragonite! Use Hyper Beam!”
I reached for a Poké Ball from my belt, but I remembered that I had no Pokémon. As a bright red beam started at the middle of the Dragonite’s mouth, a strange beeping noise started. I shut my eyes and waited for the impact. The beeping noise got louder and louder. I opened my eyes with a start and found myself in my room. I groaned and shut the alarm that was making a very annoying beeping noise.
After controlling my breathing, I got out of my bed. I walked to my mirror and put my hair into pig tails. I changed into my normal clothes, a black undershirt with a white collar, then a long sleeve pink shirt over it. I put on my overalls and my big white hat with a pink bow on it. I smiled at myself in the mirror. Despite the weird dream I had, I kept a good mood. I walked toward my computer to check my Email. Huh, Gold sent me a message. I opened it.
Adventure!
Excited!
I Love Pokémon!
- Gold
A little Marill was at the bottom of the message. How cute it was! I shut down my laptop and started down the stairs. Almost immediately, my mom stopped me. “Oh! Soul! You’re finally awake! Your friend Gold was just here. He was playing hide-and-seek with his Marill. Oh, I almost forgot! Our acquaintance, Professor Elm, was looking for you. He said he had a favor to ask of you. The lab is right next door. Do you have everything you need? Here, take this bag. Here is your Trainer Card. Have fun, sweetie!” And with that, she returned to the front of the television. “Um… okay mom. See yah!” I walked to the door and stepped outside.
I took a deep breath. New Bark Town was so beautiful. Windmills were our prime source of electricity. I loved how you could gaze out to the ocean and be staring at the Kanto region! It was so exciting! As soon as I stepped one foot outside of my house, a bouncing blue creature bumped into me. “Marill? Mar marill!” Is it Gold’s Marill? Suddenly, its large ears popped up. “What is it Marill?” I asked. A boy with a red jacket started calling it. The Marill jumped up and ran back to the boy. Then, they disappeared into a house.
I figured Professor Elm can wait. I started to follow the boy to his house. Stepping inside, I saw a man with black hair. He looked at me and smiled. “Hello Soul, Gold is upstairs. He is playing with his Marill, as usual. Why didn’t you bring your…Pokémon? Oh... I’m sorry. I should have known. You don’t have your own Pokémon yet. I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings, Soul.” I frowned. That wasn’t very nice… whatever. I’ll just go see Gold. As I headed for the stairs, I could hear laughter. I reached Gold’s room and smiled. His Marill was running around him.
Gold always wore shorts, and he always had the same gold and black cap. He wore it backwards and he had a streak of his navy bluish black hair coming out of it. I waved. As soon as he saw me he smiled.
“Soul! Hey!” He got up and ran over to me. He is always in such a good mood. “Soul, it’s great to see you!” I could feel my cheeks getting hot. “It’s great to see you too, Gold.” I smiled at him and gave him a hug. He hugged me back. When we parted, I saw his cheeks were red in a blush. “He he… um... Soul, did you go and see Professor Elm? I heard he was looking for you. You should go see him.” He scratched the back of his head and smiled. I nodded. “Okay! See you, Gold!” He nodded. As I left, I saw his Marill nudge him as he continued to scratch the back of his head.
As I made my way to Professor Elm’s lab, I saw a boy with bright red hair outside of the lab. I started to walk towards him. His eyes were piercing, just as red as his hair. He was looking inside the window. He had a red and black jacket on and indigo pants. His shoes were the same color as the jacket. As I got closer to him, I heard him mutter, “So this must be the famous Professor Elm lab…” I reached to tap him, but he saw my reflection in the window first. He spun around, and he laid his red eyes on me. I was almost lost in them. He scowled at me. “What are you staring at?!” He pushed me out of his way and returned to the window. What is his problem? Whatever.
When I walked into the lab, I approached Professor Elm. “Soul! It’s you! Do you know anything about my research?” I nodded, but I couldn’t help but to glance at the window where the red headed boy was. I would have never noticed him if I hadn’t met him outside the lab. I could still make out the red hair… “Um… Soul?” I snapped back into reality. “Yes! Uh… Professor, continue.” Professor Elm corrected his gl*censored*es. “Yes… well. As you know, Pokémon are carried in Poké Balls. But, Before Poké Balls were created, people used to walk with Pokémon just like your friend Gold does! Poké Balls are great because you can carry tons of Pokémon. But walking with Pokémon must have some advantages like how they grow or evolve… So I’m going to give you a Pokémon! Can you walk beside it outside of its Poké Ball, to see if it brings any bonds between Pokémon and people? Over there are some Pokémon you can choose from and…”
A strange beeping noise came from his computer. “Hey! I got an Email!” He walked to it. “Hmm… yea… OK… Hey Soul, listen. I have this friend named Mr. Pokémon and… what’s wrong?” I covered my mouth with my hand. “Oh, nothing… go on.” I was cracking up in the inside. Mr. Pokémon? What kind of a name was that? “Anyhow… He keeps finding weird things and boasts about his discoveries. I just received an Email from his saying this time it’s real. I’m sure it’s probably another Pokémon egg, but everyone at the lab is busy with our research that… I know! You can go in our place, right? Can I count on you? Go and choose your Pokémon now.” I walked over to the machine that carried the Poké Balls. Before I even looked at the Poké Balls, I glanced at the window again. I could still make out the red eyes. Could he hear what we were talking about? I turned back to the machine. The three Poké Balls were there. I pressed a button and the Poké Balls rotated. Hmmm… Chikorita? Totodile? Cyndaquil? Which one do I choose? After pondering a bit, I touched the flame Pokémon’s Poké Ball, and a familiar red beam shot out. A cute little Pokémon with its eyes closed popped out. It had four red circles on its blue back. Its tan face and underbelly was huddled close to my leg. Its long snout rubbed my leg as its stubby arms clutched me. Suddenly, the four red circles had smoke coming from them. Little sparks started forming on it. A great flame shot out from the circles. Its whole back was covered in flames. I freaked out but then calmed down as I rubbed its back and the flames didn’t hurt me.
I thought of a nickname to give the male Cyndaquil, I thought of ‘Lava’. Not the most original name. But, I spelled lava backwards… ‘Aval’ It’s cute, and it still had some dignity to it. I mean when it evolves into Quilava, then into Typhlosion, Aval is a pretty good name. I turned back to Professor Elm who was nodding and rubbing his chin. “How do you like walking with Cynda- I mean ‘Aval’? It’s not bad, is it? You can take it to Mr. Pokémon’s house and back! If Aval where to get hurt, you could heal it with this machine over here.” He pointed to a machine behind him. “Mr. Pokémon’s house is past Cherrygrove city, just go a little north! I’m counting on you, Soul!” As I headed for the door, a researcher stopped me and handed me some potions. I happily accepted them and headed for the door.
As I stepped outside, Gold stopped me. He had a big smile on his face. “Soul! Hey! So you picked… a Cyndaquil! What a cute Pokémon! If you walk with it, it’ll become friendlier. Sometimes you should talk to it too.” I couldn’t help but smile. He was so funny when he tried to act serious. It looked as if he wasn’t even trying with him blushing and smiling a mile a minute. “Oh yeah! You should show it to your mom! See you later Soul!” He winked at me and started off with his Marill bouncing happily behind him. Why does he always run off like that? Usually we never have a more than a minute long conversation because he is always running off. Well, I guess that’s just Gold.
I turned to look at the lab again. It was huge compared to Gold’s house and my house. Curiosity crept over me as I remembered the red headed boy. I walked a little to see if he was still at the window. Sure enough, the same boy had his crimson eyes glued to the lab window. But why? I guess I’ll have to find out later. I walked towards my house to show my mom my new Pokémon. Her face lit up when she saw me and little Aval next to me. “Oh! Soul!” She got up and started to walk towards me. “What a cute Pokémon!” I blushed as I remembered that Gold said the same thing to me. “Professor Elm must have given it to you, right?” I nodded. I told her that Professor Elm had a job for me. “Oh, so Professor Elm has a task for you? What is it?” I told her about Mr. Pokémon’s egg. “Hm. That sounds kind of difficult. But when someone asks you of a favor like that, it must be important!” I nodded. It was a big thing. Going past Cherrygrove city to Mr. Pokémon’s house wasn’t a short journey. “Oh! I almost forgot! Your Pokégear came back from the repair shop! Here you go!” She handed me the pink device. Finally! Now I can call people again.
Before I even stepped foot on Route 29, I heard someone call my name. When I turned around, I saw Professor Elm walking towards me from his lab. “Hold on Soul! Wait!” I paused for him to catch up. Aval looked up at Professor Elm and smiled. He remembered him all right. “Hello Cynda- I mean Aval.” He started. Aval happily blew out a little smoke cloud in response. “Soul, I almost forgot about this… let me give you my number.” I registered him in my Pokégear. “I’ll call you if anything comes up. Good bye Soul and Cynda- I mean Aval. Whoops!” He corrected his gl*censored*es and walked back to his lab. He didn’t even notice the red haired boy. I wish I knew his name, but he obliviously wasn’t in the mood right now.
During our walk in Route 29, Aval kept very close attention to the movement in the gr*censored* around us. We walked through the gr*censored* for a good three minutes but no wild Pokémon popped up. I thought hard about it but I found no possible reasons in my head. As I approached the entrance to Cherrygrove city, I saw an elderly man who ran towards me surprisingly fast. He smiled. “Are you a rookie trainer?” I nodded suspiciously. “I can tell! Don’t worry; everyone is a rookie at some point!” I groaned. Does everyone want to make me feel bad today? Jeez! The old man smiled wider. If you’d like, I can teach you some things.” Have you nothing better to do? I wondered. “Um… Sure.” The old man jogged in place. “OK then, let’s go!” As soon as I blinked the fragile old man took off towards a red roofed building. For an old guy, he is pretty fast! The old man looked back at me and ran back. “Whoops! Sorry, I forgot that you weren’t wearing any Running Shoes!” Again with the making me feel bad. “I’ll try to go as slow as possible, so try to keep up!” I think I can catch up to an old man, thanks. I thought. The old man took off to the red building again. I hate to admit it, but I was at least three yards behind him. “This is the Pokémon Center! They heal your Pokémon when they get hurt. After tough battles, the Pokémon Center is the best place to hit the hay!” The old man took off towards a building with a blue roof now. “This is the Pokémon Mart! They sell all kinds of things for your journey like Poké Balls and Potions!” The old man ran towards a road leading out of Cherrygrove city. “Route 30 is that way. Mr. Pokémon’s house is towards at the end of the road!” The old man ran out towards the sea to the west of Cherrygrove city. “This is the sea, as you can see! Hahaha!” I grumbled. First of all, thanks for the info Captain Oblivious, of course that’s the sea! Second of all, stop making cheesy rhymes, thanks. I thought. The old man took off once again to a house. “This is my house! For your effort with keeping up with me, I’ll give you my running shoes!” This guy sure was nice but he was a little loony. “They’re still warm!” Um… major ewe! I’m so throwing them out and… “Got you, didn’t I? Don’t worry, these are brand new!” Wow. That just made him nicer and loonier. I took the shoes and thanked him. He walked into his house and disappeared. Somehow, I was relieved that he was.
After slipping on my pink new running shoes, I wondered why he had an extra pair of pink running shoes. I decided not to think about it. I started on my way to Route 30. Before I got even 3 feet away from Cherrygrove city, I heard a fast pitter patter of feet coming towards me. Aval turned around and clutched my leg. “Aval what’s the…?” I turned around to see the same old man breathing heavily. “Huff…huff….I made it…” I thought I saw the last of you, Sr.Hyper Freak. “I forgot one thing. This is another gift from me! Go on, take it!” Ok. This guy was nice and loony to the max. The old man slipped a gear into my Pokégear. “Now you can see the map on your Pokégear! Whatever region you’re in, the map of that region will show up on your Pokégear! I wish you luck on your journey!” And with that, the fragile old man took off again toward his house.
As I was walking down Route 30, I walked through the tall gr*censored*. A strange bird Pokémon flew out at me. “Hooooot!” It exclaimed. I almost had a heart attack. “Aval, use Tackle!” Aval jumped at the Pokémon and head butted it with his forehead. The tiny flames on his back fluttered everywhere. The Hoothoot tackled Aval and knocked him back. “Come on Aval! Tackle that Hoothoot!” Aval crashed into the Hoothoot with all his might, sending the owl like creature flying. A critical hit! It crashed into a tree and fluttered away. I laughed. Aval had little blue sparks coming from him. “You must be gaining Experience Points. Soon you’ll be leveling up!” Aval smiled and puffed out a little cloud of smoke. We carried on with our journey to Mr. Pokémon's house.
Before long, Aval and I appeared at a house with a tree next to it. It was real cute because it only had one little Apricorn on it. “This could be Mr. Pokémon’s house!” I knocked on the door and then stepped inside. There was a black haired man there. He stopped and looked at me. “People usually come to my house looking for Mr. Pokémon's house. You did mean to visit MY house, right?” I swallowed. “Uh… yea. Cute tree you have outside… and stuff.” The black haired man smiled. “How kind of you! Do you have any Apricorns? Apricorns trees are like the one I have outside my house! They are really useful, and they can be made to make many things! I’m so happy right now that I’ll give you this!” The black haired man gave me a box. What do I need a box for? “That is an Apricorn box! You can carry a lot of Apricorns with that. You could be an Apricorn collector! Hahaha!” I managed a smile. “Thanks… Mr.” I backed out of his house. That was weird. Aval seemed to think so too. “Well, let’s not delay, come on, Aval.”
A little bit more north than the black haired man’s house, I saw some kids. One had a purple rat and the other a bird. I started to walk towards them. The kid with the rat exclaimed, “Go, Rattata! Use Tackle!” The Rattata head butted the small bird who the other kid called Pidgey. “The kid with the Rattata turned to me. “What are you looking at? This is a big battle! Leave us alone!” He turned his attention back to the battle. Whatever. If this kid loses I’m going to laugh so hard.
On my way north, I saw another Hoothoot. Aval swiftly defeated it. More little blue sparks came from Aval till a blue pulse blew off from him. “Aval! You grew to level six!” Aval did a little dance and a really big smokescreen poofed out from his mouth. “I think you learned Smokescreen too!” Aval blew more smoke out. “Well, come on Aval, we have to find Mr. Pokémon’s house.” I started walking again with Aval still puffing out little puffs of smoke.
Finally, we appeared to be at Mr. Pokémon’s house. Another Apricorn tree was there, but this time it had pink ones. Aval sniffed one of them. This house was against a rocky wall so this was as far as we could go. “Come on, Aval. Let’s go inside.” I knocked twice then walked inside the house. As soon as I walked in, I saw two old guys standing next to each other and talking. One of them turned to me. “You must be Soul. It was I who sent the Email to Professor Elm earlier.” Finally, I met Mr. Pokémon. Mr. Pokémon ran to this gl*censored* container. He pulled some ob
ject out of it in a tube. “This is what I want him to examine.” Professor Elm was right, another Pokémon egg. Mr. Pokémon carefully walked back to me and handed me the weird egg. A friend of mine from Ecruteak city gave it to me. This egg isn’t native to the Johto region. I thought that maybe Professor Elm could figure out what it is. You are returning to Professor Elm, correct?” I nodded. “Here, let me rest your Pokémon.” I put Aval back in his Poké Ball. Mr. Pokémon took the Poké Ball and healed it in a machine.
Suddenly, the other old guy was walking towards me. “And with that… I am Professor Oak, a Pokémon researcher. So you’re Soul. I was just visiting my good pal Mr. Pokémon. I heard you were running an errand for Professor Elm, do I stayed here.” Professor Oak looked at Aval. “Hm. This is indeed a rare Pokémon. I see. You must be helping Professor Elm’s research. I think I understand why Professor Elm gave you that Pokémon.” Aval shrunk back behind me. I bent down and patted his flamed back. “You will treat your Pokémon with love and care, it seems.” Professor Oak turned back to me. “Well, you seem to be dependable! How would you like to help me out? This is a Pokédex.” Professor Oak showed me a little red device. He put it away and handed me a pink one. I looked at it with interest. “It records data of Pokémon you’ve seen and/or caught. I would like you to have it.” I looked at him surprised. This thing looked like it was expensive! “You go and meet all the Pokémon in the world. Complete the Pokédex. I think I have stayed here for too long. I have to get to Goldenrod city for my usual radio show. Soul, I see great potential in you. I have a feeling this is not the last time we will meet. Here, let me give you my number just to be on the safe side.” I registered him in my Pokégear. Then, Professor Oak slowly left Mr. Pokémon’s house I followed him out, but by the time I was outside, he was gone.
Before I even reached the tall gr*censored* outside of Mr. Pokémon’s house, My Pokégear started to beep. I looked at the caller I.D and saw that it was Professor Elm calling me. I answered with a very polite ‘hello’. “H-hello? Soul is that you?” I wondered why he sounded so distraught. “Yes Professor Elm, it’s me.” I listened intently on what Professor Elm had to say. “It’s a disaster! It’s just so terrible!” I didn’t even try to imagine what happened; I just tried to calm him down. “It’s okay Professor, I’ll be right…” Professor Elm rudely interrupted me. “What should I do? It… Oh, no…” I started to grow agitated. “Professor I’m on my…” Professor Elm interrupted me again. “Please get back here now!” Professor Elm then hung up on me. Ugg… I said I was coming, jeez.
I started back to Cherrygrove city, clutched the tube with the Pokémon egg in it. The egg was the size of my head, and I wondered what the heck was inside of it. Aval seemed to want to know, too. He kept looking up at it and then blowing out a little puff of smoke. I ran throw the tall gr*censored* so fast that no Pokémon jumped out at me. Aval was panting in the end. I scurried to the building with the red roof, where the old dude that gave me the shoes told me I could heal my Pokémon. I walked towards the nurse lady. She was weird looking with her pink hair, but I didn’t pay much attention. After struggling to but Aval into his Poké Ball, I finally succeeded. The kind nurse lady healed him in her machine and then gave him back to me. He popped right back out and shook his body. He puffed out a little smoke puff in response to being fully healed. I thanked the nice nurse lady, and then I walked out of the Pokémon Center.
Not 3 feet from Cherrygrove town, I was rudely interrupted, literally. I was looking at Aval puffing out smoke when I felt someone bump into me. Hard. I almost dropped the Pokémon egg Mr. Pokémon had given me. A familiar red haired boy was staring at me with true hatred in his red eyes. I wanted to yell, ‘Watch where you’re going!’ in his face, but something stopped me. The red haired boy laid his crimson eyes on Aval, who was shivering close to my leg. After a brief pause, he spoke. “…You got a Pokémon at the lab. What a waste.” I frowned. What a rude guy. When we first met, he almost knocked me over when he shoved me, and now he is just being plain rude. “That’s a Pokémon that’s too good for a wimp like you.” That’s it, who does this guy think he is?! I scowled at him. I felt like punching his teeth out. There was a pause. “Don’t you get what I’m saying? I too have a good Pokémon. Let me show you what I mean!” I opened my mouth to protest, but he grabbed a Poké Ball from his belt. He smirked and threw the Poké Ball on the ground. A blue crocodile looking Pokémon came out. It walked on two feet, and it jumped up and down with a toothy smile on his face. The Poké Ball bounced back at the boy and he caught it. The red haired boy yelled at the creature, “Stop standing around you stupid Pokémon! Scratch that stupid weakling to death!”
The creature lunged at Aval with outstretched claws. Aval tried to dodge it but the claws scratched Aval’s leg. Aval fell but got up again. He tackled the crocodile Pokémon, sending it falling backwards. Aval lunged again and tackled it. The flamed on his back grew bright and hot in the battle. The crocodile didn’t see it coming and fell backwards. The crocodile quickly got up and scratched Aval’s face. Aval shook his head and sent blood droppings everywhere. Aval lunged at the crocodile again, and this time it skidded on its back and landed on the red haired kid’s feet. Blue sparks came from Aval and a blue pulse came from him. He had just leveled up to level seven. Aval blew out a puff of smoke in triumph. The battle was over. He withdrew the fainted Pokémon. “Humph! Are you happy you won?” Why, yes I am.
The red haired boy glared at me with his crimson eyes. I stared into them with my brown ones. There was a pause. We stayed looking at each other for about 3 seconds before he pulled his gaze away. “Do you want to know who I am?” He asked me. I wanted to know his name. I gave a slight nod; hardly noticeable. His crimson eyes searched my face once more. “I’m going to be the world’s greatest Pokémon Trainer.” Wow. Nice name. He spun around and started walking away. A shiny card flew from his back pocket. Aval picked it up and showed it to me. I grabbed it with interest. It was his Trainer Card! I read his name quickly. Suddenly, the red haired boy reached for his back pocket. He noticed his trainer card was gone. He spun around and looked at the card in my hand. He stalked back to where I was. His red eyes looked into mines. “Give me that! That’s my Trainer Card, idiot!” He snatched it from my hands vigorously. “Sure thing, Silver.” I said. Silver’s bloody red eyes widened at me. “Oh great, you saw my name.” He shoved the card into his back pocket. He spun around and stalked past me into Cherrygrove city.
Aval and I started off to Route 29 towards New Bark town. I picked up Aval and clutched in my arms as I ran through the tall gr*censored* and dodged wild Pokémon. I soon arrived to the sign, ‘Welcome to New Bark town, winds of a new beginning!’ I took a breath of fresh air and so did Aval. I set him down. This was home. I turned to Professor Elm’s lab. I have to see what was the matter with him. I grabbed a potion on my bag and sprayed them on Aval’s wounds. The cuts from the crocodile’s claws disappeared. Aval happily blew out a puff of smoke and rubbed his head against my leg. “Good boy, Aval. Come on, let’s go inside.”
As I stepped in Professor Elm’s lab, I clutched the egg with the tube harder. Professor Elm was sweating like a pig and a police man was there too. As soon as Professor Elm saw me he looked very relieved, but the police man narrowed his eyes at me. I walked towards them suspiciously. “Who are you? We are investigating the case of the missing Pokémon here.” Missing Pokémon? Someone stole one of Professor Elm’s Pokémon! That’s why he was so freaked out! “Rule number one in the police man’s handbook, ‘whoever did it will come back to the crime scene!’ Oh my… So you must be… the one who did it?!” My mouth flew open. They thought that… I was the criminal?!
I started to stutter. “But... but I…I did…didn’t do…” Suddenly, a familiar boy with a backwards cap came running into the lab. A blue Pokémon came bouncing behind him. “Hold on a second! She has nothing to do with it! I swear!” I looked at Gold. He was looking at me and smiling. Oh Gold. Such great timing. Gold turned back to the police man. “I saw who did it. There was a red haired boy looking into the lab earlier!” That’s right! Wait… it all connects now! Silver’s new Pokémon… Silver is the one who stole the crocodile Pokémon! Professor Elm was looking down muttering, “My poor Totodile…” That must be the Pokémon that Silver stole. I turned to the police officer. “I battled that red haired boy.” Gold looked at me astonished. The police officer looked at me, then Gold and back. “What? You battled a boy like that? He must be the one who did it… Did you happen to get his name?” I nodded. “His name… his name was Silver.” The police officer jotted Silver’s name down on his paper. “Silver… OK, got it! Thank you so much for your help in this investigation! I now must search for this red haired individual.” And with that, the police officer walked out of the lab’s door.
Gold sighed. “I am so glad they understand you’re innocent!” He looked at the egg in my hands. “Whoa! Is that a Pokémon egg? Can I see it?” Professor Elm was too busy muttering to himself, so I opened the case. Gold took off his hat. His hair was in the same style with his hat on; a streak of hair in front of his face. I put my free hand on the top of the egg. Gold then put his hand on top of mines. I blushed a little, but when I looked at Gold, he was blushing super hard. Harder than he ever had before. I could feel a tiny beat from the egg, and by the smile on Gold’s face, I was sure he could too. “What do you feel?” He asked me. I looked at his dark blue eyes. He looked at mine. I replied simple- “A heart of gold.” Gold blushed even harder. He took his hand off of mine. I put the tube cover back on the egg. Gold looked at me and smiled. “I…I got to go, see ya Soul!” I looked at him as he left with his Marill. Dashing off again. Longer than a minute conversation, complete.
Professor Elm seemed to have snapped back into reality. “Soul… This is just terrible.” I understood how he felt, losing a Pokémon like that. “Oh yes, what was Mr. Pokémon’s big discovery?” I handed him the egg. “Oh. An…egg. Another one. This egg might have a Pokémon that I’ve never seen before in it. Still, it’s just an egg. Mr. Pokémon has always been fascinated by eggs.” Just an egg? How ungrateful. “Well, since he gave it to us, we might as well find out what secret it holds.” Yeah, after all that work you put me through, you better. “I’ll keep it for a while to find out about the Egg.” I randomly started to get curious so I pulled out my Pokédex to check Silver’s Totodile’s page. Professor Elm suddenly gasped. “WHAT?! Professor Oak gave you a Pokédex?!” Um… yea I’m holding one. “Soul… is that true? That’s incredible! He is superb at seeing the potential in people as trainers!” Really? I didn’t know he was so special. “I always knew you were different, Soul. Things are going to be fun!” I couldn’t help but to smile. I liked getting praise. “Your Pokémon really likes you so why don’t you keep it?” Aval jumped up and down. I hugged Aval tightly. “Thank you Professor! Thank you so much!” I exclaimed.
“Soul. There is one more favor I would like to ask of you.” Professor Elm looked at me serious. I stopped hugging Aval for a second. “Yes Professor?” Professor Elm looked at Aval, then me. “Do you know of the eight Gyms? There is a gym in almost every city. In every Gym, it is like a maze to get to the Gym Leader. Once you defeat a Gym Leader, you receive a Gym Badge. Once you have all of the eight Gym Badges, you can battle the Elite Four and the Pokémon League Champion.” I stopped to think for a second. The Pokémon League? I started to remember the dream I had with the man in a cape. The Pokémon League Champion. I looked at Professor Elm. “I will take the Gym challenge.” Professor Elm smiled. “On the way, you can see many different types of Pokémon. You will be able to put that Pokédex into good use.” I nodded. “You should go and tell your mother that you are going on this journey. It’s not going to be a cake walk. ” I nodded, and then I turned for the door to leave the lab. “Good bye Soul! Goodbye Aval! Have a nice journey!” I smiled and waved back. Aval blew out a smoke puff in Professor Elm’s direction. As I stepped outside, I turned to the ocean and stared out into the Kanto region. I then looked behind me to where I had been at Cherrygrove city- the Johto region. “Pokémon League, I will meet you one day.” I turned to my house and walked inside. Aval happily went in too.
My mother was sitting on the table doing some bills. She must get so lonely by herself. “Hi mom.” I said. My mom turned to face me. She smiled. “Mom, I’m sorry to just some here and get ready to head off again, but I’m leaving on a journey. Professor Elm asked me to go and face the entire Johto region. I accepted.” My mom looked down for a moment. The fire on Aval’s back turned off to reveal the same four little red holes I saw him with in the beginning. Aval climbed my mom’s leg and sat on her lap. My mom smiled and petted Aval. “So you’re leaving on an adventure…” I nodded and Aval did to. “Alright! But I have to help you in some way. What can I do…?” I wanted to tell her she didn’t have to do anything for me, but she spoke first. “I know! Every time you win some money from battles I’ll save some for you! When you’re on a long journey, money is important! Want me to save some for you?” I shook my head. “It’s okay mom, I’m good.” My mom nodded and set Aval down. “Remember, Pokémon are your friends; when you’re together, you can accomplish anything!” I nodded. I gave my mom a big hug. “I love you, mom.” She hugged me back. I could feel Aval clutching my leg in a hug too. My mom sniffled. “Go on now. Go on your great adventure with little Aval! I love you!” I winked at her. Me and Aval stepped outside, which was the first step into a giant new adventure together. We took a deep breath and took the next couple of steps into the unknown Johto region.
