When the new egg hunt method came out YEARS ago, it pretty much killed my ability to participate in this holiday.
The new egg hunting/item searching has had some small improvements [a hard to see 'aura' around items/eggs] but in the end it actually made it worst.
The process of flickering through images and black screens repeatedly is a known heavy trigger for migraines for many people, myself included, not to mention the way the images are dark with little contrast makes it incredibly difficult for those with visual impairments like myself to even spot anything without the use of an add on. Each time I've had complaints about this, I've just been told to use an add-on like DOM highlighter, but a site feature shouldn't only be usable through outside sourcing.
This has been a consistent issue for years. Every year, I get on to try to participate in a holiday and fail due to the lack of disability access or even consideration that have gone into these events.
Not to mention, the 48 hour time limit is horrible for those of us that now work full time jobs. We get this 'event' for an entire month but can only participate in part of the event for an INCREDIBLY tight period. I think it was meant to help stabilize the market but all it's done is allow those who have the time in that tight time-frame to all but dominate the market, making for an unhealthy economy in general. Due to the eggs being rng-based as well, this adds to it. I can search for hours in my little free time and find maybe one egg where as another person can find dozens.
This is only an issue due to the tight time-frame making it where rng can be, unbelievably punishing and cruel, whereas in the past, I could continue to search at my leisure throughout the week and not have to heavily stress about this tight time constraint.
This has made what used to be a fun addition to the holiday, a active competition that is incredibly unhealthy for the site in general. It's created an enviroment where few thrive and benefit and the rest are left to just kind of rot in the dust.
Some years I do not even bother with the hunt, due to the fact it'll give me a migraine and I've searched for 5+ hours before to only 'find' 3 eggs that I missed due to this sights poor visibility on eggs.
