It's true Res has had many users sign up. It's also true that many users have abandoned this site. I think that users that have abandoned this site should have their accounts deleted. This would help in many ways. First of all, it would make the member count more accurate. Second of all, it would open up usernames so new users could have them. I've seen some profiles that haven't even been touched! I've seen some that still have 10,000 tu, no pets, and no shops, galleries, or showrooms. All these profiles are doing is taking up space! I believe that after a certain amount of time, inactive profiles should be deleted. Users should be warned of this upon joining to make sure they know. Feel free to share your opinions on this.
I\'m back.

i agree to a point. some users don't abandon res forever. they come back after an extended period of time for one reason or another. it wouldn't be fair for a person who worked hard on their account then took a break to come back and find their account deleted and somebody else using their username. also the username thing could get confusing. it would get more confusing to come back make a new account and find someone with your previous username. you would thing your old account had been hacked...

I think maybe after like a year would be good.. They would have to be warned of this when they joined.

Accounts should only be deleted if they've barely made it past the registration process - the 10,000 tu and no shops, etc that you described. Personally I tend to come and go and it would'nt be very pleasant to have my account deleted. And I'm still waiting for the clearing of graves, now overdue by... two weeks?

I definitely agree with this. There should be a year or a year and a half account inactivity limit, for accounts which don't have any pets or shops/galleries/showrooms. It would help a lot with clearing out the people who mulit-account and then forget about all the accounts they've made and forgotten.

I support. The users could be warned upon joining, that if they do not login for a year or so, their account will be deleted. For those who tend to come and go, well, they can maybe manage to log in at least once like every 6 months or so. I takes 2 minutes of their lives to log in and out, and their account is safe for another year.

I also support to an extent. I joined in February of 2008 but took almost a year's break.

I kind of support this. Though like HarryPotter i'd like the deleting only be used on accounts hardly ever played on. Users that love res and worked hard for thier pets also can have like a years break from internet for lots reasons possible... it realy would suck to come back just to find a void. That's what i don't like on simply time limits... i am aware that this possibly means having to delete the accounts manually. :c

I say that after a year of inactivity, more or less, deletion of the account is okay. There is no reason for a user to not go on at least a couple times a year. This is where "last logged in" would be helpful

Disagree. Some people will take a year-long hiatus, maybe more. It's unfair to ban or "delete" their account, especially since they've done nothing wrong--they haven't even been here to do something wrong. There's no reason for that. Sure, maybe a good username and a tiny, TINY bit of storage space on the overall site will be used up. But it would have whether they were active or not.

Murgy, as I said, it takes only two minutes of their busy lives to log in and out once in every 6 months or so, and their account would be fine, and they can go back and enjoy their one year hiatus again. I just cannot understand why that would be so hard to do for anyone who seriously plans to return in the future. They cannot be that busy 0_o.
