I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds it annoying having to type words like 'as.sume' or 'clas.s' with periods in the middle of them. I have never seen anyone post inappropriate things in the forums, and even with that censor in place, they still could use other bad language if they wanted to. I understand the desire to censor certain words, but all it does is make perfectly innocent words seem like dirty ones, because of the *censored* in the middle of them. It's just an extreme annoyance and I know I'm not the only one who thinks that, so can we please get rid of it? ^^

I support. It is aggravating that the auto-censor is on. If a kid wants to curse, they will find a way around it. They could just as easily do to certain four-letter words what they do to the words "as.sume" and "cla.ss." Not to be critical, or anything.

I have hated this censor thing since I joined Res. We might as well lose it.

Support. It bothers me too. Most sites don't even censor the word, because it's a type of wild Donkey. And I've never seen anyone use bad words in the forums either.

Whenever someone uses an unwanted bad word on the forums, wouldn't it be easier to just kick them from the roleplay/art commish/etc?

Eh. I've seen people try things before, even if it was in 2008, when we had almost no active support staff.. The only reason they didn't quite succeed was that many of those kinds of words were censored. A lot more than we have censored nowadays - I've only seen two with today's Forum, and one of them only comes up very rarely as an accidental thing. Best thing I can say is to try to ignore it. We sure did in roleplaying of those days. xD 'He kicked off his sh-oes. The gla-ss s-hattered. His sister sn-iggered at him.' And whatnot. Otherwise you'd get a giant 's{BLEEP}s,' instead of shoes, for instance. And be unable to edit it out. It could make things pretty hilarious sometimes..

The censored words are useful, do't get me wrong. When someone does try to pull something, it's nice that they are there. :/

I think it's really annoying, so I support its removal, but I also think that there should still be a way to censor things like that. So I have this idea: Say, a newbie joins the site, they aren't aware/used to not cussing via the internet, or maybe they're just a troll, out to ruin the game for the rest of us, so they post a couple bad words. I think the more mature/concerned users of Res should be able to see this is wrong, and do something about it: If a message contains profane language, users could flag the message, and a staff member would get a notification about it, take a look into the message, see if there is anything wrong with it, and be able to censor it manually. The person who posted the message could get a warning, or maybe the staff could just censor it and everyone would be happy. Also, people can't just flag random messages willy-nilly, because the staff would see who flagged it, and send them a warning message for abuse of flagging.

Yahh, that is good. There used to be a 'report post' button, but for some reason we don't have one anymore. o3o I'm sure it'd be pretty useful with things like this.

Support Fire. And yeah, Yosh, I actually kind of loved the old censors xD It was like... He threw his s{BLEEP} across the room. It landed in a huge m{BLEEP} on the floor. or {BLEEP}-a-doodle-doo!" crowed the rooster angrily. "Well tie my s{BLEEP}!"

Really? I wonder why they took it off? Well, in any case, I hope they put it back, it would be really useful.

I'm for this 100%. It would make the site seem a little more adult if we were allowed to censor ourselves. Maybe we should give ourselves a little more responsibility, but then again I have no idea what age this site really wants to cater to. Do we want mature young adults or is this site a little kids site? if it is for mature young adults then we should remove the censors because I think we need to be trusted a little more. Most of the users know it's against the rules to swear, and when they do it's usually just a slip. Also it is extremely annoying to have gra.ss constantly being turned into a naughty word.
