Just so it would be easier then species by species.

I think the point of making users search species by species is because, unlike on other sites, names are sought after as a part of the game. A user with an epic showroom could get a hundred Rmails in a day asking to sell pets.

If you truly want the name, this is a way to prove that you want it. You have to put effort into searching for the name. It shows dedication and protects users from the crazy hara.ssment that some users can cause.

Plus, Name Hunters would go out of business. Some people have chosen that as their income, just like users sell items, hatches, pets, art, etc.

I believe this is the fourth time I've said No Support on this topic. 

I've sure never heard of anything like a name search in v1. The only real difference was that there was no limit to how many results could be displayed - and apparently that was putting a lot of stress on the servers, so it had to be changed. Oh, and also that there was no 'Any' option on locations, forcing you to search one location at a time.

So it wasn't really much better. You still had to put some effort in - especially if the pet didn't turn out to be in a Ranch, where most pets were.

Anyway. As always, no support.

Those people who get junk trades/begging mails all the time, are not getting them because of the search. They get them because they hang out in the SB a lot, so a lot of n00bs can click on their username. I hardly ever show my face in SB so no begging mails for me, search or not :-).

And the search is getting more and more problematic, because we are just not allowed to get a search system that excludes the nameless dead pets :/.

I would actually compromise with an option that the name search would tell at least what species the name is.
Like this:

   There is one pet with the name Zachariah. It is a Meiko.

Then you would still have to go through the Meiko, but not all 40+ species :/.

I think this idea would be nice, but with conditions.

My idea for the name search is that if a name is taken, but in a rancher shop for sale, in addition to telling you how many of each name there are, a link could be included to the rancher shop the name is in.

If this was done ONLY for pets in rancher shops, I can't see where it would cause a problem. It would really be a benefit for ranchers too.

... There seriously was? I never noticed. I mean. I remember even the search bar above the small Shoutbox didn't work as a name search - it would just give links to Ranches that happened to be selling a pet of whatever species you entered. Pretty much completely unhelpful with the addition of colors. xD

Broken: That is a nice idea^^. And name searchers wouldn't starve either as they still could search for show room pets if someone really wants to know who owns the name they want.
