Remove Necroposting Rule from Suggestions

There are quite a lot of suggestions currently in this here suggestions forum.
Problem is that, if we try to support any of these brilliant ideas now (excluding like, 6 posts that are within 4 weeks), they get locked and eventually removed for Necroposting, and that glorious suggestion that could have one day become reality, is gone.

There are definitely some excellent suggestions in this forum category as a whole, but alas can't be heard long enough or supported because we cannot post on them after 4 weeks, because that would be necroposting, which I find personally, rather annoying and literally silly.

Suggestions are here for attention and feedback; something to build upon and one day produce, yes?

Which is why I propose that the Necroposting rule does not count for the Suggestions Forums. Or maybe even expand the time limit to a year or so to give older suggestions a chance to be reheard.
The Necroposting rule currently isn't in place for Site Feedback, and suggestions, to me, is another form of site feedback, where we think of things to add to, and improve on around the site. And frankly, there's no real point making a suggestion if it's only going to be active for a month and then be unable to post on it and get ignored altogether.

I think I saw a discussion on this before and the argument was:
It helps to weed out unpopular suggestions.

or something like that

which I can understand and you can always ask a Support member to unlock your thread again

BUT 

I support removing the rule for suggestions, or at least extending the "active" time.

It seems that many people don't look at the suggestions, or if they like a suggest simply don't comment (or at least that's what I've gathered when a conversation about it came up) 

weeks later someone could think of something to add 
the poster could think of something to add
... it's early and im still not thinking clearly so im sure there's a lot more to add to this.

To me I would be happy if we had a similar structure to fan clubs where there is no necroposting rule but there is only one thread related to a specific issue with users being able to build upon, bump up or offer similar suggestions

I don't see a problem with removing the necroposting rule for suggestions. It was in place before mainly to discourage bumping bad ideas that had died off when we didn't have the manpower in place to do forum maintenance. We do have the manpower for forum maintenance now, so anything that doesn't need to be revived could just be locked so that it isn't able to be posted on. That's my view anyhow.

IMO the necroposting rule in general could use some rethinking. Is a four week limit really appropriate for forums as slow as these? It looks like in most of the forums only about 1/3 of the first page falls under this limit.

I feel this way about necroposting in general on our forums. In its current state, the rule is not encouraging new activity. 

At the very least right now, removing the necroposting rule should be the case for Suggestions. :)
