This has probably been suggested before, but I think Rescreatu should add seasonal items for non-Christian holidays. We have Christmas stockings and all that, but what about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or some of the less common holidays celebrated during the "Christmas season"?

I, for example, am Jewish. It makes me happy to see places with Hanukkah items because it makes me feel like I belong in the community. When I look around during the winter and see only Christmas items, I feel like an outsider because I don't celebrate the holiday.

I'm sure there are many other people on Res that aren't Christian, so what does everyone think about this idea? I'm not saying I hate Christmas or anything like that, but I think it would be nice if some other holidays and religions were recognized, too.

I guess i dont mind, but having more festivals just seems a little troublesome to me. s:
Phaps instead of celebrating real festivals, res could have its own ones? Like the festival of fire earlier this year?

I'm not sure if I support, because how can res cater for EVERY religion? Say they make something for Hanukkah, what if a Hindu person comes and demands something for their religion? And people of the Islamic religion? There are hundreds of religions out there and certainly res cannot provide for all of them. I think that it's more about the majority. Even non Christians celebrate Christmas, because of other factors that do not have to do with religion. Certainly the site can be happy with that?

I am undecided as to whether I support, because I can see the issues that will arise.

:c Pick a very...non-religious day, and celebrate "OMG EVERY HOLIDAY RES DAY THING". There. Simple, it include every holiday (one or two items from each major religion/holiday of that religion and an event for each of the FIVE major religions - Hinduism, Christianity, Jewism, Bhuddism and Islam. >_>]

Iunno...I'm tired. ;-;

What about rather than a holiday, an astrological day, like the equanox or solstice? Days that come the same time each tear but aren't created as a religious day.

Sure some religions worship them, but they already existd before that.

I agree but not every religion can be catered to. So I just think of it this way. Christmas has kind of grown into a commercial holiday which people just celebrate to give and recieve stuff. I celebrate Christmas and I'm an atheist. But then again a relgious person might have a different view than mine.

 I'm undecided whether support this, though I really don't see a problem with it.

The few Holiday events on here are no longer just Christian holidays; they are the ones that have been most comercialised and widely celebrated. Sure they started out Christian but, as time went on, they just became a time for friends and familly to gather and to exchange gifts.And as others said, people from other religions may celebrate said holidays too, but without the religious aspect.Like myself.
However, I think it would be nice to add in some of the other Holidays, or atleast incorperate them in the events.^^
So I support fully.(:

I agree that Res should not cater to just one religion, but as others have said, Christmas and Easter are so commercialized that they lose the religious aspect. That being said, if Res were to cater to say, three religions others would still complain, and they can't accomodate every single religion in existance. I think they should have just steered clear of anything religious from the beginning, but what's done is done and they can't just stop having christmas or easter events after all these years. However, maybe there could be some more items pertaining to other celebrations, just to show they care. So, support :)

I feel that we should not bring religion into this site. Or at least bring it in as little as possible. Yeah, Christmas has the word "Christ" in it, but. Its a widely known thing. It isn't like we're saying "OMGBECHRISTIANNAOWPLZ", or hating on any religion. Actually, many seasonal ideas have been refuted because of religion. Why does the site have to have religion anyway? I mean, sure, maybe an update saying like "Happy start of Hannukah, everyone :)" would be nice. But there are so many holidays it would be hard to get them all on there. This post is coming out sounding rather hostile, and I aplogize for that, it isn't on purpose. But what I'm trying to say is I don't want to bring religion into this. What about Atheists? Polygod believers? Wiccans? So many are out there. Atheists feel uncomfortable and pressured if you shove religion out there.

Anyway, sorry, no support. I'm terrified the site would go into the kind of chaos YT videos see when religion is mentioned.
