Okay.
I'll speak from personal experience now.
I've been on Rescreatu for 2 years, just over, and I was thirteen when I created this account.
Nowadays, I find my username somewhat close to embarr*censored*ing, as I was desperate at that point to have something to do with horses, and Horselover was taken. I am now a great supporter of literacy, and my account name doesn't help with that at all.

This is my suggestion:

Players of Rescreatu who have accounts that are older than 2 years, may have one username change. Only one, but I think that we were all younger when we first created our accounts, and our usernames may not sound as appealing as they once did.

I think that quite a few of the Rescreatu members who're in the same position will agree.

When I joined Res I was not expecting that I would like it that much. Thus I took some username which signifies my interest in the topic of Starseeds, Otherkin and so on. But everywhere else people know me under the name of Yamuri.

Also under v1 my uername caused problems. It was often censored to st***d. Right now that seems no isue anymore with v2 SB. I have not tesed the case with rmails yet. Nevertheless I'd prefer the name Yamuri.

I'm not a member for two years yet, but I believe your idea is quite good. Also I think it would be nice to have one username change. Only one, no more. After the change you should have to stick to that new username. This way people would have to decide carefulyl whether they want a change and which new name they want, cause there would be no second changing.

Aside from that I do support your idea Fizzeh and hope your idea will be considered by staff.

I have only played for a few months, but I regret using numbers in my username.  It's hard to remember someone with numbers in thier username.  If I could, I would change it.  In fact, it would make me extremely happy to change it.  However, I don't agree with the 2 year factor.  I'd have to wait a long time to be able to change my username.  Also, I think staff should NOT be able to change thier username untill they retire from staff.

I\'m back.

The point of the two year limit is so that we don't have newbies changing their usernames every pair of plates.
It would be pointless and annoying.

The two year rule makes sure we don't have that problem. If your username is recent, then you should've thought about it a little more.

I've had my account for a while and picked my username because it was the only thing that I could remember because I made it up when I was 6 and used it for almost everything online. Now that I've been on Res for a while, though, I find my username pretty embarr*censored*ing as well. The two year limit is also a good idea so that noobs won't have another way to be annoying.

I picked my username because I figured that the name 'Seashell' would be taken. Actually, I've grown used to it, and I have obtained nicknames from my username. I kind of like it, and I think it would be hard for others to remember you if you changed your username.

I've been playing Res for a little over a year, so I'd have to wait if I wanted to change it, but I really see no point in changing your username. You put it on in the first place, and it stays. That's it.

There is a point, though See.
When we are younger, we pick usernames without thinking. You don't see it from our point of view because you're happy with yours, and couldn't care less what the outcome of this is.

Besides, I'd only change mine to the nickname that everyone already knows me by. =)

I still like my username. But its pretty long and always causes confusion when more people with 'star' in their username enter the SB. The name Yamuri is much more unique. Besides I tell everyone to call me Yamuri anyways. My friends wouldn't have trouble with me changing my username to Yamuri. In fact it would even be easer for people if they would not have to remember that starseed = yamuri

Like Fizzeh said, friends know us by the username we would like to change our names to. I would also have to wait one more year though. But that's why I brought up the idea with the posibility of having a name change only once in your life on res. This way new players could have a username change already, but since you can only have one in your entire res life you would have to think and decide carefully.

Aside from that I can live with my current username. It would only be easier for people if my username would be the same name as the name my friends use to call me. ;)

i agree with this. i didn't think when i picked mine that i would be on res for more than a week. but it turned out that mine is actually pretty great if you ask me. other people weren't so lucky and since there aren't many of us who have been on for 2 years i think i wouldn't be a problem unless somebody hacks your accound and decides to keep it by changing the name.

Bella, we can't change our usernames, that's the entire point of this thread. I personally think that if you made that username a while ago, you have to live with it. If you didn't take much time thinking about it when you made it recently, that's your fault.

While I am actually quite content with my username, I do support the idea of changing names. Yes, we have people who didn't think they'd be on for more than a week (like...me.). And when my siblings joined I did have a feeling they wouldn't be too fond of their names when they have grown older and have taken on other interests.

I agree that there should only be one change after two years as changing names frequently would be confusing. I guess it also shows that we ought to think more carefully about names xD

I've heard many people suggest the ability to change their usernames, and I flat-out hated it. However, now that you've mentioned the part that you must have been playing for a certain amount of time to change it, I like it a little better.

I still hold a bit against this though. I like a clean, simple, and single name to go by.

I like my username, I picked it after a fantasy character from a book. I use a different username on other sites, the reason why I created a new here, is that I didn't want anyone recognising me from other pet sites, as I like to keep these accounts different. On the other hand, this name is kind of hard to remember, maybe no-one besides me can memorize the spelling :D. So maybe ( just maybe) if we had the option, I would shorten it to Yaizh or Yaiz.

Water: I think that the time limit is absolutely necessary, because the last thing Rescreatu needs is people running around changing them as soon as they've joined. =)

I would love to shorten my username. My username is named after a character named, Silver the Hedgehog. I got used to the my username at first, but now I realize how cruddy it sounds especially with the numbers at the end. I would rather enjoy having the name, Silver, Psycho, or Shiruba ("Silver" in Japanese).

I support this.  I don't think a two year window is strictly necessary, nor is a "one time only" stipulation.  I think a once yearly change would be reasonable.  It would be an excellent income generator for the site if implemented through the cash shop.  The question is, was the site coded in a way that username changes are even possible?
