One thing that I would really truly love that a lot of other petsites have-- a split in the Advertisements forum into Buying and Selling, or even Wanted and Advertisements or something like that. It's pretty self-explanatory -- people are fundamentally lazy, after all, and wouldn't it be nice to post your 'Looking For Specific Pet X' thread in a place where you know it'll be seen by people who want to sell Specific Pet X and not just competing for space with people hocking everything else under the Rescreatu rainbow?
Support-ish. Some people decide to put both what they're selling and buying into one thread, instead of making multiple threads. What would those people do if we decided to split up the Ad forum like this? Other than that, I like the idea.

As for people doing both buying and selling, they could just post two forums and link one to the other to let people know they're buying/selling as well.
