So, here's the rotten creatu egg I got from Derp Days! There are only 11 of them in the game, and the most recent purchase was in 2013 for 75 mil. Since I don't come here that often anymore, I figured I'd host a contest for it.

Rules:

1. Suggest a poem to me. Include the ti
tle and the poet's name in your suggestion. You can either post below or Rmail me.
2. It must be one poem, not two or multiple poems.
3. There is no minimum length. Maximum length is 5000 words. (But obviously longer does not equal better.)
4. It must not be written by yourself.
5. I have to be able to find it online so I can read it. Otherwise, Rmail it to me in a neat, easily readable form.
6. The poem must be (mostly) in English. Translations from other languages are fine, but not encouraged.
6. Whoever suggests the poem I like the best that I haven't heard of before wins.

(Please note that this is based on my personal taste, so no offense to anyone or their poem if you don't win.)

Good luck everyone!

Edit: Entries read and judged. Read the last post to see who won!

Nature's first green is gold by Robert Frost.

http://worldculturepictorial.com/blog/content/then-leaf-subsides-leaf-so-eden-sank-grief-so-dawn-goes-down-day-nothing-gold-can-stay

Nature's first green is gold

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf's a flower;

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

Nothing gold can stay.

— Robert Frost

tle fn">The Paradoxical Commandments

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

Entries judged!

then00breturns- Yours was really interesting and funny. I didn’t know there was a poem that went along with that movie! The whole time I was imagining what it was like to be Jack Skellington. Looking at him, you would think that he perfectly enjoyed being in Halloween. But it’s funny how people can have secret desires and different parts of their personality!

lilie- I love that poem, but unfortunately I’ve heard of it. It’s very good though. You can just imagine the sound and rhythm of the sea and the feeling of emptiness.

Yandere- Yours was really thought provoking. It’s kind of like the question, would you rather know you were going to die or be in ignorant bliss? Made me go look up Bernkastel!

tinkytasha- Your poem was really clever, well-written, and so true too! Teachers hardly ever do anything about bullying. I love how the teacher keeps telling him to do such ridiculous things, like sit in the sink and lock himself in the cupboard, but she just won’t help him.

Excelscia- I love that one, but I’ve heard of it too, sorry. Poe’s poetry is very beautiful though. It has such a musical, dark, and ethereal quality to it.

Lunasparkle- Same thing, I love the poem, but I’ve heard of it. It’s amazing that there can be so much emotion and meaning in such a short poem though.

Kotu- Yours was really meaningful. All of it is good advice to follow. Being a good person can be paradoxical, but it a weird way, it makes sense.

Chironex- I love the intensity of your poem. I especially love the line "You see death's hand that has glazed her eyes”. Yet even though she has died inside, people still don’t see it on the outside or have sympathy for her.

The entries were all really good and so different, so it was hard to pick a winner. But overall my favorite one was the poem submitted by…

tinkytasha! Congrats! Sending over the egg.

Mortal man by kendrick Lamar

(Warning contains strong language)

(Especially the last bit)

Technically and conventionally viewed as a song but the basis of most songs are poetry. I really like it though. The song really does use a lot of elements of spoken word poetry though. I really feel the accompanying music strengthens the poetic force of the spoken words. It is a "poem" discussing current events of police brutality and rascism. This strikes a chord for me living as an ethnic minority.

Edit: realise the contest has ended. Still worth putting things I like out there lol

I (HATE)' YOU

Feel the love man D:<
