It depends. Do you want them to already know each other? How old are they?

Rain walked slowly down the street, his hands tucked into the pockets of his denim jeans. All around him people were moving as quickly as they could, umbrellas up, complaining about the terrible weather. Not Rain, though. True to his name, he loved the heavy downpour, the icy cold droplets spattering onto his skin and soaking through his dark grey jacket. His neon-green, transcending into neon-blue hair was wet too, the normally spiky texture being flattened against his skull and dripping down onto his shoulders and face, not that it made a difference. He wore eye shadow and black lipstick, waterproof, as always. He had a smile on his face today, though. He was meeting up with his friend, Vin, for the first time in a while.

It really had been quite some time since they'd last hung out, he realized. Maybe he'd done something to offend him or something. Nah, he was probably over-reacting. If something was up, his friend would say so. In the least, Rain would have. He wasn't one that believed in tiptoeing around things that bothered him; at least, not things involved directly with that person. His other problems, other things that bothered him, were completely unrelated, so there was therefore no reason to say a thing about them to his friend.

No, today he just wanted to chill out with Vin, relax a little. Maybe even convince him to come walk around in the rain with him. Rain would have liked that, and he was sure Vin would enjoy it somewhat too. Walking up the driveway that led to Vin's house, Rain stood in the doorway while he rang the doorbell, his electric-blue eyes watching intently as he awaited his friend.

Vin had been in the tree room when he heard the door bell ring. He glanced at his wrist to look at his watch. Wow. Had he really been tending to his saplings for two hours? It seemed to him that he had just started. Vin still had three saplings to transplant into bigger pots. The teen nibbled at his lip before getting up and throwing his gloves and apron onto the wooden workbench (made out of a fallen tree, mind you) that held all of his other tools and whatnots.

Vin left the room, made sure he closed the door behind him, and rushed to the stairs. As he climbed up them, he couldn't help but glance at a mirror as he passed it. There was obvious signs of dirt in his hair. Vin knew that he didn't have time to clean himself up because someone was probably waiting on him to open the door, so he attempted to ignore it.

The young man reached to top of the stairs and started to navigate through the hallways to the front door. His house was by no means huge, but for some reason there was an insane amount of hallways that usually led to nowhere. Vin's father had once told him that his mother was paranoid, and she threatened to divorce him if he didn't buy a house that would confuse people. Vin doubted the story was true, but he hesitated to ask his mother what the real reason was.

Vin finally reached the door and yanked it open, smiling at the person standing in the doorway. "Hello Rain. Were you waiting long?"

Rain glanced back down from what he had been doing, head tilted back to feel the rain on his face. He smiled when he noticed Vin had dirt still in his hair, and presumed that if he couldn't convince him to come outside, he'd end up spending the afternoon tending to trees. He liked that about his friend, though, he wasn't afraid to do what he loved, and was so in-tune with all his plants.

''No, not particularly long. I don't suppose I could convince you to go for a walk with me, could I? It's a beautiful day, after all...'' Perhaps the most worrying thing was that Rain appeared to be completely serious, gesturing at the clouds that were pouring their loads open the earth. His bright eyes danced as he looked over to his friend, wondering how long he had been playing in the mud with his plants.

Deciding it would be fun to tease him, he reached over and rubbed the dirt more thoroughly into his hair, getting mud on his already dripping hand in the process. ''Why do I get the impression you've been playing in the mud again?'' He laughed lightly, wiping the mud off on his jeans before shoving his hands in his pockets again. The rain would wash it off anyway, yet another thing he loved about it. It was just so clean and pure.

Vin raised an eyebrow. "Am I allowed to bring an umbrella? Or am I going to end up drenched just like every other time we hand out?" He asked. It was so like Rain to persuade Vin to go outside when it was raining. He really didn't mind it, so it was okay, and anyway, Vin enjoyed his time with Rain.

While he was thinking, Rain messed with his hair. Vin glared at his friend and swatted his hand away. "Hey! Don't do that." He felt his hair to try to guess how wet it was, sighed, and dropped his arms. "I wasn't playing with mud. I was transplanting. There is a huge difference."

[[''I wasn't playing wth mud. I was transplanting. There is a huge difference.'' That, that right there makes your post awesome. 8I]]

Laughing, Rain rolled his eyes. ''Suuure. I believe you, buddy, really I do.'' He shook his head repeatedly from side to side, almost like a dog, resulting in his hair becoming even worse than usual and spatters of water flying onto Vin. Not to mention the fact he got dizzy and almost fell over, so had to steady himself byleaning against the wall for a moment.

''Well, now you're wet anyway, so why bother?'' Grinning at the cunningness of his plan, he cocked his head to the side, trying to work out why someone would want an umbrella anyway. He certainly never would. ''Besides, where's the point in walking in the rain if you're not going to feel it properly?'' Not one hundred percent convinced his friend would agree, he decided to make a deal.

''Besides, if you come out without an umbrella, I'll help you transplant kidneys or whatever black market organisations you're getting up to in there.''

[[lol, thanks]]

Vin felt a pang of worry shoot through min when Rain stumbled. He forced it to go away when he saw the other was fine. He couldn't help but smile at Rain for his offer to help him. "Who ever said I'd let you help me? For all I know, you might try to drown them."

He looked over at the coat rack, debating weather or not he should bother bring one. Rain would probably poke fun at him, and Vin would end up getting soaked to the bone anyway. After a few more seconds of debating, Vin sighed. "Let me go tell someone I'm going out. You can come in if you want, just don't touch any of the plants."

Vin turned on his heels and walked away to the living room, leaving the door opened behind him. He found his father in the living room attempting to clip the head off of one of the roses on a bush. Vin watched for a second, listening to his father mutter about thorns. Vin couldn't help but hope for his dad to bleed.

"What are you doing?" Vin asked, his voice loud for once. His father whirled around, hiding the clippers he had been using and a murdered rose head behind his back. He opened his mouth to explain, but Vin spoke first. "I'm going out to check on on some of the samplings I planted a few weeks ago. Don't tell mom and I won't tell her that you were butchering one of my plants. I might be out for a few hours. Okay?" Vin waited for his father to nod before he turned to go back to the entrance.

[[ROFL. I can see that. XD]]

Rain laughed at his friend's lack of trust, wondering whether he seriously believed that or not. Probably not, not with how long they'd known each other. He'd never do anything, anything at all that might hurt him. He hoped Vin knew that. No point just hoping about something, he'd tell him when they were outside and have done with matters.

''Ah, you know I'm not that bad. Only time I've ever 'hurt' them is by accident.'' Still, he followed his friend as he had been asked, obediently not touching even one of the plants he saw. Walking into the room behind him, he saw Vin's father trying to clip one of his plants. Even he could tell that was purposefully trying to damage them.

While he did enjoy listening to his friend threaten his own father with the thought of his mother, something he knew would work, he still didn't like the thought of Vin's dad trying to hurt something he cared about. His eyes glared unblinkingly into the father's, gaze never faltering for even a moment. He would have liked to show Vin what a real threat was, but they were going out, and wouldn't have time.

Instead, he followed behind his friend, and didn't mention the fact. He spoke about something else instead. ''So, where shall I take you today, hm? You really wanna go check on the samplings, or did you just say that? I don't mind, either way.''

"Nah, they should be fine. Anyway, I checked on them yesterday, and they were in good condition." Vin informed his friend. "And unless you really want to go trudging through a forest for an hour to look at some wet trees, we can go somewhere else." He paused, "Though I'm not sure of anywhere else we could go that's not inside where we wouldn't be standing in the rain or sitting in mud..." Vin mumbled.

Vin reached the door to the outside world, which was still open. He was slightly sad to see that it was still raining. He loved Rain (as a friend), but Vin couldn't help but hate being outside when it was raining. One day he was really going to have to work up the courage and tell Rain 'no'. Sadly today wasn't the day.

[[You can't say no to Rain, he just stands there  and refuses to move. . _.]]

Rain laughed. He had  absolutely no intention of trecking through mud for an hour. While he liked the rain, he did not like dirt, mud, or earth. Whatever you called it, it was sloppy, sticky mush. So, understandably, he tried to think of somewhere else. Only one place came to mind that would not be completely flooded and muddy, but... He'd never taken anyone there  before. Oh well, Vin would be the first.

''I do know of one place... It's not advisable if you're scared of heights, but you're not, are you?'' Without waiting for an answer, he continued, ''You know where the cliffs are? Yeah, up there. The cliff edge itself is fenced off, so it's perfectly safe- although I've climbed down it before but I doubt you would- and there are a couple of trees there you can sit under.''

Rain failed to mention that there was also a space where, if you climbed down the cliff side a little ways, you could sit on it and let your legs dangle over the raging ocean waves. He figured Vin would only worry about it anyway.

[[good to know]]
[[...I just realized that I put the tree room is in the basement >.< If we ever mention it again, don't be surprised if it is suddenly upstairs...]]

Vin was about to remind Rain that that he used to climb trees all the time when he was younger, but he really didn't feel like interrupting his friend. Vin listened to Rain, trying to think of where he was taking him. Vin usually didn't go out to the cliffs that often because they weren't anywhere close to where his trees are.

He couldn't help but wince when Rain mentioned climbing down the edge - only he would do something so reckless - but Vin kept his mouth shut. "Sure, that sounds good." Vin hesitantly walked out the door which was still open.

[[Rofl. Alright then. XD]]

''Alright then.'' Rain grinned, happy his friend had agreed so willingly. Not that Vin usually argued much, but you never knew with him, really. He was also quite happy that he hadn't said much about climbing over the cliffside, so decided he'd try and be a little less difficult today. Remembering that Vin usually brought a jacket, which resulted in Rain teasing him, he slipped his own jacket off his shoulders.

He quite liked feeling the rain on his bare arms, anyway; the only reason he brought a jacket was because his sister used to ask him to always bring one with him, in case he met a girl that was cold and he could drape it over her shoulders. It was likely just another of her wild ramblings, since she wasn't quite right in the head, but he brought it anyway.

Much as he doubted this was exactly what she meant, he still held his jacket out to Vin. ''Here. You don't like the rain, I do.'' He didn't mention it was a thank you for not fussing over things.

[[sorry for taking forever on this]]

Vin blinked, surprised at Rain's action, and slowly took it before putting it on. The jacket was warm, even though it was a bit wet on the inside from being taken off in the rain. "Thanks..." Vin mumbled to his friend. "L-Lets go. We're walking, right?" He suddenly felt funny inside. The fertilizer fumes must have been getting to his head.

[[LOLOLOLOLOL ONCE AGAIN YOU MADE IT AWESOME.
''The fertilizer fumes must have been getting to his head.''
^EPIC WIN^]]

Rain laughed, nodding his head. ''No problem. And yeah, we're walking, unless you want a piggy back there.'' With that, he tilted his head back into the rain for a moment, perfectly happy for the first time that day. He wasn't quite sure why, but he just got the feeling today was going to be a good day.
