The sun was beginning to go down, the sky turning lazy shades of pink and blue and yellow. Families were winding down, nestling down for their evening meals and naps and family time. It was at this time that a strange stray dog could be seen wandering the streets. I say wandering, but it was more like cheerfully prancing around. He was strange, dark gray in color, quite large and rather wolfish in appearance. It was unusual to see a dog off of its leash in a residential neighborhood, especially in such an upscale part of town. He didn't even have a collar or tags, nor did he seem to have a care in the world. He was a handsome animal, with brilliant green eyes and a tail that was swooshing with enthusiasm. The wolfdog didn't seem to have much purpose to his stroll, and was perfectly content with that. There was a look on his face that suggested he wasn't quite paying attention to what was going on around him, just a pretty flower to sniff or a cat to watch with intent. And it was that very cat that led to a very. Big. Mess.
The anxious feline spotted the dog, and showed a considerable displeasure with his presence. the cat arched up, and hissed loudly, baring a set of unforgiving fangs. the dog took a slight step closer, and the cat bolted. Instincts triggered, the wolfdog barked and bolted after the cat, right into the street. The cat made it quickly onto the other side and halfway up a s,all tree, but the dog was a different matter. For in that moment, the canine realized a car (which was equally unobservant of its surroundings) was about to smash into him.
