The girl sat in chair.

She was silent through the whole conversation.

They had told her many things.

For one, she was adopted.

She was not normal. Never had been.

Why was this? Because there were traces of The Light in her blood.

What was the The Light? The Light is a highly powerful chemical.

The Light could save millions, and kill millions.

The only way to attain it was to find it. It was hidden in the strangest of places. Often in necklaces.

The only way to use it, was to activate it. And only this girl could.

She was The Pulse.

"You must find as much of this mineral/chemical as possible, and bring it to us, before the world is destroyed. People out there will want you, and try to use you...We want to protect you." The young adult talking to her was a complete stranger. He was about 6 feet tall with dark brown hair, and bright blue eyes. He looked as if he was maybe 19 or 20. 

"I just have one question, who are you?" The girl asked, shaking her head at the boy.

"I am part of a secret organization, called The Finders. We find The Light. But to get more specific, my name is Jacob Hanson. I work here, and have since I was 12. I am special like you, as I am not entirely human."

The girl took a deep breath. This was happening, but nothing made sense. Earlier that day, she had been taken from her house. Her parents told her to go, so she did. Now she was here.

"You will have a team, and I will accompony you. I must ask though, what is your name? I don't believe I ever got that." Jake looked at her quizically.

"My name is Emma Watcher."

As Dusk sat quietly underneath a tree, she felt a prescence near her. She quickly finished the page of the book she was on by rubbing her fingers across the brail writing. She closed the leatherbound book and put her hand on the ground; she heard a branch landed on. It was just a bird, she decided. 

Dusk rubbed the onyx-black stone in her pocket, feeling its smoothness. She leaned back and thought of what she had been told:

Murdock sat at a wooden desk, staring into space. He knew The Light was active, he could feel it in his bones, in his organs, in his very breath. He needed The Light. He needed it like a small child needed a cookie, and he would fight for it like one.

He sighed, resting his head on his arms. He breathed in the cool air of his office, closing his eyes. What was he going to do? How did he expect to get it? He needed a plan, and a good one at that. He sighed, becoming bored fairly quickly. He reached over and rang the bell for his maid to bring him those chocolate chip cookies.
