Setting;

The island is very well known for growing tropical fruits, which makes up for most of their exports. Rumors about the rainforest have kept tourists away, but they are still a semi-wealthy place. Fishermen are drawn towards the island for the promising fishing, and scientists have started to fly in, trying to catch one of the rumored specimens.

A pair of bright amber eyes peered out of the dense foliage, disappearing every few moments as the owner blinked. The eyes seemed calm, at peace, though with an alertness that signalled whoever these eyes belonged to was ready to attack or escape at any sudden or foreign movement.

A sudden breeze rustled the leaves of the tall rainforest trees and in a flash the eyes had disappeared, swallowed up by the darkness and shadows. Not a sound heralded its disappearance, but if one looked closely enough a pair of feline paw prints slowly faded deeper into the jungle.

-A few hours later, night-

The beach was quiet, only the sound of lapping waves upon the sand heard to an average human’s ears. The sand was smooth except for a single trail of paw prints leading out of the forest, winding across the beach in a meandering way.

Further to the west a small outcropping of rocks rose from the golden sand, stark black against the pale beach. Only one living being stirred on the rock, a large beast that sat perched atop the highest boulder, a black silhouette illuminated slightly by the moonlight.

The only movement this strange animal made was the slight flicking of its tail, the fur flashing silver as it came in contact with the light shining down from the moons, dotted with black rosettes. Amber eyes glowed with a light of their own as they flicked slowly from side to side, surveying its territory.

What a dark night, yet with a beauty of its own, the beast thought with an amused tone, flicking its ears slightly.

I feel the stirring of those humans who live in the steel-and-concrete city; they feel the arrival of something new. Scientists, I hear from the mouths of the tall ones. Capture and cages, unnatural sleep brought on by quick-flying darts.

The beast, now ascertained to be a female, was thinking hard about what to do of this new phenomenon. However strangely she put the words of humans into her own language, her mind was sharp and aware of the danger the ‘scientists’ could pose.

A shrill, blood-curdling shriek cut through the crisp midnight air, accompanied by the sound of beating wings and rustling feathers. Something white glided through the tree tops, yellow eyes unblinking. Its powerful wings battered the air, keeping it aloft in the velvety black sky. 

Another shriek, and the white bird plummeted through the sky, wings pinned to its feathery sides. It stretched out its talons, which gleamed eerily as it homed in on its prey. A small squirrel-like creature nibbling on part of a banana looked up too late, for it's squealing was cut off by the great bird.

But the hunter was being hunted. Jason looked up, prey clamped in his beak, just as something made of mesh closed around him. He flailed, flapping his wings and crying out as loud as he could. Help, he thought, biting down on the net with his sharp beak. Somebody has got to be around. Help!

Molly yawned, screwing up her eyes as she struggled under the blankets to free one arm. Her alarm clock blared, demanding her full and complete attention as she fought to stay awake. Finally she slammed her hand down on the Snooze button and sat up. The numbers on the screen started to bl
ink a bright, harsh green color. 1:15.

"Ugh," She muttered under her breath as she threw her legs over the side of her bed. Her feet touched the floor, sending chills up her spine. "I hate having to get up so early." She pulled the blankets closer up to her chin, dragging them across the bedroom floor with her until she reached the closet.

She quickly dressed in long black pants, a black tank top, and a black sweater, then pulled her hair back into a long, flowing ginger pony tail. She was already thinking to herself out loud. "Just need to go find the traps and then we'll be okay." Setting a black hat on her head, she completed the look with a thick smudge of black eyeliner on each cheek.

"How cliché," Molly whispered as she flicked off the lights and started to tip-toe out of her house. God forbid the neighbors see her sneaking out into the forest in the middle of the night. But she couldn't help it; ever since her sister had been killed by scientists, she had an unnatural craving to help every animal, and shifter, possible.

Thomas Quinn slithered through the undergrowth of the forest silently, ignoring the shrieks of a distant owl. It seemed in peril, but he could care less. If the ssscientistsss are over there, then they can ssstay over there. He thought, obsidian scales scraping against tree roots as he traveled. I'm not sssaving sssome ssstupid bird jussst to have myssself get captured.

He tasted the air, ruby tongue flicking in and out of his maw. One scent stuck out from the rest, pricking at his curiousity. Sssnow Leopard? He thought, starting to follow the scent. In a place like this? Mussst be another shifter. The smell lead him to the beach, where he glided smoothly through the sand. 

Raising his head, he saw the she-cat and instinctively knew it was another shapeshifter. There was an air of magick around them that only other shifters seemed to be able to sense. He hissed, fanning out his hood to get her attention. He wanted to know what was going on with the scientists. 

In the middle of the forest lay a white lion and a black fox. Anyone who would look at them would wonder what a lion was doing laying with a fox and wonder why he hasnt eaten the little fox but they wouldn't know that they were brother and sister. The reason why they where in their animal form is because they both feel more comfitable in their animal form and so they can keep more alert to what was happening around them.

Kaze was the oldest out of the two and felt that it was his job to keep his only sister safe from what might hurt her or who might want to hurt her. He was quiet in both his human and lion form he never found the need to talk and if it was needed for him to talk then he would get straight to the point and not beat around the bush.

Kazumi the youngest was shy and didn't get on well with anyone but her brother. She didn't know why she felt like that she just did. She thought it might have something to do with their parents throwing them out when they where kids so she might have trust isues there but she didn't know the true reason behind it.

Kazumi could hear the mix of a howl and roar getting up from her brother she howled back in greeting. She thought it might be another of their kind and hoped it was as she wanted to begin to trust others again.

Kaze watched his sister. He wanted to keep her safe but he also wanted to keep her happy and if she wanted to be solicable then he would let her.

Smoke stared as a giant dragon-like creature emerged from one of the rocks on the seashore. His keen eyes stared at the fisherman's boat. He shook his head sadly. "Hopefully the guy doesn't loose his mind." Smoke stretched his back, and slowly turned into his mountain-cat form.
He wrapped his giant, stripy tail around his two front legs. His gold earring thumped against his velvety soft ear. Now, he examined the interesting creature. "Wow.... Big brute.." He watched in awe as the wolf-dragon shook himself off, and stared into the sky.  The ma'ssive creatures tail was bigger than he was! Smoke, even though how hard he was to spot at this time off day, turned tail and ran off into the forest.He needed to eat, anyway.
He had eaten a mouse or two, some roots, and a banana, but he was still hungry. He sat down quietly, his ears perked to hone any strange noises indicating food. Smoke listened, and heard the most unusual noise... Like a bird being strangled. He headed toward the noise, in case the bird was small enough for him to eat, but was surprised to see what he saw.
It was obviously another shapeshifter,  and it was captured in a wire net. Smoke slowly walked back afoot or two, and changed, unnoticed, into his human form.
"Hey you!" He called, emerging from the bushes. "Let that bird go! ....He's mine!" He stared coldly at the capturer of the bird, waiting for him to drop the net. "Yes, it's a snowy owl in a tropical paraadise!" He rambled on. "I used to live in cold country, and I couldn't leave.... Shisket alone at home. He's my best friend."(Can I roleplay the dude, or can I not?)
