{{Plot}}
The two sides of the shape shifter species have been at war from the beginning of time. What they don’t know is that the war will end the world if it isn’t stopped by their only hope: a thirteen year old warrior. And better yet, she’s a girl. Most shape shifters only have ties with one animal, therefore they can only shift into that one animal. But occasionally, a shape shifter that has ties with all of the animals is born. The thirteen year old warrior has ties with all of the animals. Her parents protected her for as long as they could, but a group of shifters hunted her family down and killed her parents, leaving her to go away on her own to survive. While she is running, the other shifters are in hot pursuit. She jumps off of a cliff, lands in a river below, and faints. The girl washes up on a river bank near the home of a boy. The boy is about her age, maybe a bit older. He is more than surprised when he finds a near dead naked girl on the side of the river. He picks her up and brings her to his family. They nurse her back to health and try to send her to school. Eventually, the boy finds out about her dirty secret: shape shifting. He is determined to help her bring peace. But an enemy that is bigger than everything stands in the way.

((I'll start now.)) Ella was bleeding. She had an injury to her leg and her stomach. She was knocked out. All she could think of is the taste of sand in her mouth. She didn't know where she was, and that didn't help at all. She coughed lightly, and still couldn't open her eyes or move. The river had battered her against rocks with its swift current. She felt like a ragdoll that got beaten with a meat tenderizer.

Kyle walked down the shoreline, on his daily driftwood search. His toes clenched the sand under his feet when he saw an odd ob
ject in the water. He figured it was just another large peice of wood. But when it coughed, he thought again. Kyle turned and ran to the ob
ject. It was a girl, but she was naked. Kyle's eyes went big from curiousity. Why in the world was there a naked girl on the river? He checked for her pulse, it was feint, but still there. "I hope you don't mind me picking you up," He mumbled to the naked girl as he put both hands under her. He picked her up, she wasn't heavy at all, and walked her back to his house that wasn't too far away.
"Kyle??" A skeptic voice peirced the silence of the home.
"Dad!" Kyle cried out. "I found her on the shoreline! She's hurt... We need to help her..." Kyle trailed off and placed the girl on the couch next to the fire, his mom quickly rushed in and placed a blanket over the girl.
"Randy, it wouldn't hurt to help her... Look at the poor creature!" The mom begged her husband. A huge grinned appeared on her face as the man named 'Randy' sighed. "I'll go start the tea..."

Ella wanted to get up and run. She knew she wasn't in her house. Her house was burned down by now. She was thankful that someone put a blanket over her. She coughed again, but this time, her eyes flew open and she jumped up, holding the blanket over her. She looked at everyone in the room. Two boys, one girl. She looked wild. Her eyes were wide and she backed up over the couch, falling onto the floor. She let out an, "Oof," and coughed again. "Ow," she said to herself. Her wounds were killing her, and she would have killed for a gla.ss of water.

"Honey, please don't get up!" Kyle's mom almost squealed as she placed the tea on the table. "I'm sure you're.... Confused as to where you are. You see, my son Kyle," The Mom nodded towards her son as she said his name, "found you on the beach, you were wounded... Please, allow us to take care of you before you leave..." Kyle's mom looked at the girl, genuine concern was plastered all over her face. "Kyle, please go get the girl some of your sister's old clothes..." Kyle nodded and rushed up the stairs of his house. After a moment or so, he brought down a pair of gray sweatpants and a T-shirt that said 'Hard Rock Cafe'. He placed them on the table, face red from embara.ssment, and backed away.

Ella grabbed them off of the table and looked at Kyle blankly. "Where's the bathroom." It was more of a command than a question. She might as well have said, "Show me the bathroom." She wondered why his face was so red. Surely, he shouldn't be this embara.ssed. After all, he had to carry her. He didn't seem hesitant to do that. She waited patiently for him to tell her where it was.

"It's uh...." Kyle mumbled quietly. He walked over a few feet towards the hall. He cleared his throat and said, "I'll just show you." Kyle watched his feet as he walked down the hallway about 10 feet. He stopped at the second door on the right. "It's this one... You should find all you need in here, hah..." Kyle opened the door and rushed back through the hall, barely giving the girl the time of daylight to say anything in return.

Ella followed the boy, holding the blanket around her. She walked into the bathroom and changed into the clothes. She pulled up the sweatpants, revealing her injury near the bottom of her thigh. She dabbed it with some toilet paper to get the blood off. Then, she dealt with the one on her stomach. She could already feel them healing. That was one of the great things about being a shapeshifter: your wounds heal within a day or two at the most. She walked out of the bathroom. She left the blanket folded neatly on the bathroom counter. Ella stood in the hallway, not sure of what to do. Her family was gone. Gone. They were dead. Of course, she didn't have time to cry now. She took in a shaky breath and walked into the room where she had woken up. She sat back down on the couch and looked forward.

Kyle watched the clock, watched the pa.ssing minutes. Eventually, his mother tapped his shoulder, notifying him that her and her husband were going to bed. This meant Kyle was responsible for the girl's needs and such as that.
When she came out of the bathroom and sat down, Kyle cleared his throat and said, "Uhh... Do you need anything? Like, uhm, food? Are you hungry?" He sighed and looked at her, awaiting an answer.

Ella shook her head and said, "I need to go." She wasn't going to go anywhere. She had nowhere to go. What was she going to do? Live as a raccoon for the rest of her life? She sighed in frustration and put her head in her hands. She fought back tears. It was just now hitting her. She never knew the pain of losing someone. She wouldn't let herself cry though.

"I think it would be best if you stayed here... Do you have anywhere to go to?" Kyle shuffled his feet uncomfortably. He could sence that something was wrong with her, or something wrong had happened to her. He sat down a few seats next to her on the couch. He didn't want either of them to become uncomfortable with him sitting close.

Ella didn't answer. She just laid down on on the couch, her head throbbing. She had survived another day, but barely. She didn't like feeling helpless. But she was helpless now. At least for a day or two. After that, her wounds would heal, and she would be able to shift again. A light smile appeared on her face as she remembered what it felt like to run as fast as you could on equine legs, your lungs burning for air. Then, her smile disappeared when she remembered that the last time she had done that was with her parents.
