Hey People! So, after searching around and using the (somewhat useless) forums search engine, I noticed a unfortunate lack of rainbows coloring the discussion threads around Res. So, I thought I'd start my own pride-filled thread that focuses on GSA clubs and LGBTQ issues!
For those of you who don't know, GSA stands for Gay Straight Alliance (or sometimes Gender Sexuality Alliance) and is an organization dedicated to promoting acceptance and equality for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning people (LGBTQ+). GSA clubs at schools work to educate the school's community and make it a safer and more accepting place for LGBTQ students!
I know that this is a very touchy subject, so please understand that everything posted here is completely confidential. You don't have to share any personal information if you don't want to, and no one will ask about another persons identity.
On this thread, people cana) discuss the activities they're planning in their GSA clubs and share ideas, support etc. (for example, the GSA at my school does presentations in freshman health classes)
b) provide ideas for how to start a GSA at your school, or how to attract more members
c) discuss all sorts of LGBTQ issues
d) answer LGBTQ related questions (about the meanings of terms, identity etc.)
d) anything else you guys can think of! (so long as it's appropriate)
I'll be available to answer any questions to the best of my ability, and if anyone notices any factual errors please feel free to correct me!
