Has anyone read The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins? The three books are: 1 - The Hunger Games 2 - Catching Fire 3 - Mockingjay Mockingjay just came out August 24th. I've read all three and love the series. They recently announced that The Hunger Games is being made into a movie. I'll be interested to see how they do turning the book into a film. So often they screw up the stories when they make great books into movies. I hope they do a good job with it. So, are there any fans out there? If so, who is your favorite character? Did you read all three books and were you happy with the ending? I liked how it ended and I won't give any spoilers but I was happy with who Katniss ended up with. It was definitely the way it was meant to be. What were your favorite moments in the books? I was heartbroken over Rue's death. That was a very sad moment. I loved how Rue's district responded to Katness when she visited them, though. It was very moving. What about everyone else? Thoughts? Comments?

I love The Hunger Games! I read all three and they were amazing. I was happy with the way it ended, though i don't think some people should've died. *points to a certain district 5 victor* I loved how in the last book, Katniss aimed for the guy and ended up shooting the girl at the last second. *tries not to give away any spoilers* I hated when P*** and Rue died. It was horrible! I'd love to see how they make this into a movie. It would be pretty hard, considering that Katiss wants to act differently than the way she does, and her thoughts aren't apparent in her actions.

You're so right about the deaths at the end. I was very upset with how some of the good guys ended up. P* and others who shouldn't have ever been in harms way to begin with. Those things upset me but overall I was happy with how things turned out. Those who got shot at the end DESERVED IT! That, at least, pleased me. It's true about Katniss's inner struggle. It will be difficult to convey that on screen. I sincerely hope they cast this film well. *fingers crossed* Also, still talking about the film, I really hope they don't tone it down. It's dark and needs to be so. I really want them to give this movie a PG-13 just so they can keep it as dark and gruesome as it's meant to be.

I agree. I hope hey don't get a stupid director like most great books do. Percy Jackson did, and that director single-handedly killed that series.

The Hunger Games is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen. She lives in a time where everyone lives in twelve districts, ruled by the Capitol, in a land called Panem. Every year, each district has to send one girl and one boy tribute, ages 12 to 18, to participate in the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a fight to the death for glory and food for their districts. The last one standing wins. So it's basically a lot of drama having to do with fighting and the emotional consequences of the actions performed. *fails at giving a simple explanation*

Unfortunately there is no simple explanation for The Hunger Games. You did a pretty good job, Zoey. The Hunger Games is a story of a bleak, dystopia of a future. From School Library Journal this is said about the book: "In a not-too-distant future, the United States of America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war, to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss's young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining districts female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart, Peeta, the son of the town baker who seems to have all the fighting skills of a lump of bread dough, will be pitted against bigger, stronger representatives who have trained for this their whole lives. Collins's characters are completely realistic and sympathetic as they form alliances and friendships in the face of overwhelming odds; the plot is tense, dramatic, and engrossing." In short, it's book one of an amazing trilogy and a definite must read.

I still need to read Catching Fire and Mockingjay xD But my English teacher last year used the Hunger Games in one of the reading circles so, after two years of waiting since I first saw the Hunger Games in the stores, I finally got to read it. Worth every minute I spent waiting. ^^

Oh wow. I just finshed reading Mockingjay the other day! The series is amazing, one of the best books that I have read. Although, unlike most of you, I hated the ending. Who she ended up with upset me soo much. Probably because I never like him to began with XP. And some people really shouldn't have died. -Points to a certain girl, and victor- I also didnt know they were going to make a movie. I just thought it was a rumor. I honestly hope they have a good cast, with a good young actor(ess) who can portray Katniss, with all her flaws and conflects. I also hope that they don't screw the movie up. And it better be just a gruesome and brutally gorey as it is in the books.

Peeta! I loved Peeta from the first word he said. Gale on the other hand, I wasn't really sure about that one.

GALE! :D I loathe Peeta with a pas.sion. Especially in Mockingjay xD I hated the ending. I cried. My favorite charrie died. -a certain victor who really should not have- I love the series though, even if I hated the ending. I can't wait for the movie and hope it's not a total let down, like Avatar the Last Airbender, or something of the sort.
