I did and succeeded in my first year of NaNo last year. :grins: It was awful hectic but I crammed it all during Thanksgiving break, so things worked out. XD
I wrote about some crazy sci-fi dystopia. I'm actually hoping to get it published next month for the heck of it, and to write the sequel for this year's NaNo.
As for story ideas... bleh...
I have loads saved up somewhere but I'll probably never write most of them, mostly because I feel like they're rip-offs of other things. Plus most of them are from when I was 5, and, well... they're just corny. XD
Here are a few of the better ones anyway.
1. A kid wishes for his birthday that cartoon characters could come alive - somewhere else in the world, a cartoonist is doodling a picture of a dog. The next day, the door rings, and he comes to get it. And there, standing in the doorway and waving, is the dog. And so the cartoonist makes a lot of friends – from Snoopy to Danny Phantom, all the cartoon characters come alive into the real world. But things become dangerous when evil characters rise. Decepticons and evil villains roam the streets, and eventually an ultimate enemy arises. The cartoonist is ready, but he must choose – save the world, or save the cartoons?
2. (I tried starting this one three times and scrapped it all.) After centuries of war on the Land of Six, the five races - the Dumi'Ak, Sthoenne, Yuuvmehrn, Cresce and Winders - created a peace treaty. To help reinforce the peace, a school is built for only 1000 students, 200 from each race. Constance is one of the Sthoenne chosen to attend this school, and she meets new friends, Prilfren and Gydfeihni. Along with them, a mischievous pair become her allies - Dramgeos and Augndale.
Eraigane, a Dumi'Ak whose great-great-great-great grandparents were Sthoenne before the war, quickly becomes a common classmate with Constance. They seem to resent each other. When sudden violence breaks out and Constance's mother is killed, and her friends suddenly decide to keep their distance, Eraigane becomes her only friend... and soon an unlikely love develops as they discover the reason for their telepathic connection.
With rebellions within the land, and a prophecy rising, Constance and her friends must band together to prevent another great war which could mean the end of the Land of Six.
3. (I started this story and was into the third chapter when I accidentally deleted it. Been too lazy to start it again.) In the far future, humans have developed technology which has enabled them to colonize other planets and their moons. Currently confined to the solar system, humans search for technology which would be able to take them to places out of the solar system, maybe even out of the galaxy. In this time of technological boom, Linya and two new friends - Juika and William - are accepted into the Esteemed School of Flight and Piloting, and begin their training to become Elite Pilots. However, an evil is rising which threatens to take over the entire Solar System. It all begins in the Esteemed School, and all students, with the staff and pilots, are forced to join this evil plot - the plot which forms the Shadow Force. Linya, Juika and William band together and found the Legion of the Star Dragon. Along with new members, the Legion stands up and fights the Shadow Force. It is a war that is to decide the fate of the Solar System, and the freedom of humanity.
(poorly written summaries because these were written when I was 12. Not that I'm THAT much older now :P)
I would actually really love to see these ideas written out, but I just feel like I can't do it because I don't know how to piece together the details without it being corny.
