Ok. At school, me and 3 friends are in our schools debating team because we are (trying to be modest) the smartest people. I will post the current topic and I would like smart answers from people preferably aged 12+ who know what they are talking about.

CURRENT DEBATE:Newspapers are a waste money ~ for it

I would like reasons i.e trees get cut down...

Please help and include facts (acurate).

Wait, why do you have to be smart to debate things? xD Many of my friends are the brightest bulbs in the box, and they always say I am a little nerdy and smart, but that doesn't mean they don't know how to debate things, and they really aren't that stupid :P

But I don't really have an issue with newspapers. It tells people who don't have cable what's going on, especially in our small town our news isn't put on the news channels so it's good to have a newspaper. But I think they should cut down on the sports section, and maybe a few others. So I am pretty neutral on that. 

Newspaper companies spend a lot of money delivering newspapers when you can read the same new free online.

Proof: my local newspaper is the Macon Telegraph.  go to www.macon.com and you can read everything, though if it tells you to sign in try clearing your cache/cookies (does that to me a lot) and hit the back button.
