Alright, well When i RP with someone. At first, i can do 1 to 2 paragraphs. But as we go on, i find myself doing one liners. I really want to work on being really literate. But i don't know how i can. If there was a way to 'teach' me or whatever, will someone help me out???

Try planning out your posts a little before you do them - it helps a TON. xD If you have any ideas floating around in your head, try to build on them and set out a basic frame in your mind before you start typing. Take a minute to think of all the thoughts your character might have on the situation - I find that writing in opinions and observations from the character's view, rather than just describing what's going on in a 'He did this, she did that,' kind of way, helps a lot too. And of course, it lets the character's personality show a lot more. Also, don't be afraid to take your time. Many people around here have taken to posting every few minutes - and I certainly did too, in my first several months of roleplaying - but that really isn't nearly enough time to get out a good post. I almost always take hours to write a post, but in the end I find myself with four or five paragraphs (I usually try for at least four) and a very satisfied feeling. c: Heck, if you want you could even try finding someone who's pretty literate to roleplay with you - I often find that having short posts to reply to leaves it difficult to say much, which is probably why you're having problems, but having longer posts from others makes you wanna write more. It's kind of a contagious thing, and you tend to learn from your fellow roleplayers even if you don't realise it. P:

I agree with you on your last paragraph! I know exactly how that is...when they give me one liners, that's exactly what i do back. But i'm starting to find myself write more, if they give me literacy too...anyways..THANKS SO MUCH!!!

If you want, i'm pretty literate, I can help if you would like to roleplay. Although I kinda do the same as you, but I reflect on what other people type.
You gotta get lost if you want to get found...

Has reading been mentioned? Reading books helps. I mean. I know how reading isn't "cool" these days unless it's Twilight or something... but really, it's pretty important if you want to be a better writer. It amazes me how many youngsters want to write books (not your case, but relevant, I think) and they haven't actually read a book in like... months. To learn how to be a better writer yourself, you should read and learn from people who do that kind of thing for a living.

I'm willing to do a test rp with you, if you want. I think I'm very literate. o3o I scare people. As long as my interest sticks with it however. It tends to fade after a bit.

... xD I haven't read any books in quite a while now. /fail Ah. Maybe it's just my thing with experimenting and constantly trying to improve, even without any help. I guess I did try doing a bit of borrowing from books really early on, but.. yahhh. I went about it completely wrong. o_o Went and started going thesaurus-crazy and stuff, got all repetitive with these little phrases.. So I've kinda stuck with my own efforts since then. xD
You are magnificently literate, Uweh. :D Your writing makes jeesuses too.

@ Yoshi: Oh? Well, quite a few go through that dreaded purple prose phase to beef up their writing. I don't mean read for the sake of just stealing ideas and writing styles, but just for the sake of reading. Be aware of how the writers write but don't try to emulate them. Everyone has their own personal writing style. =P You'll get there Earth, if it's really what you want just practice practice practice. An other good tip; quality over quantity. Most of the time when people want to be more "literate" they think that means "write long posts" and that isn't the case. Many beginning writers are guilty of purple prose, and it's a bit hard for me to explain so, here's an article on purple prose: http://literarylab.blogspot.com/2009/08/overwritten-prose.html

Whenever people around me post paragraphs after paragraphs, just as Yoshi said, I feel like writing large posts. I can be literate,(sometimes) and I would like to do an RP with you also.

Hah, yah. That's pretty much how I failed at it, Gravy. xD I thought I should copy other people, rather than just learning from them. It did end up starting me through this horrible purple-prose-like stage (just with really big, stupid words taken from a thesaurus rather than piles and piles of modifiers), and I'm really glad I finally learned not to try so ridiculously hard after a while. I figure that's just how I work - learning from my mistakes seems to work best and push the improvement much farther than any other way.
Yes you doooo, Uweh. ;D You can't deny it.
