Figured I might as well give this adoptable thing a shot.~.: Intro :.The little shop sat at the end of a bumpy gravel drive - deep in what the locals called a 'holler. It was a bit decrepit, but the garden at the side was carefully kept. Pristine fences surrounded the edges of the property. You approach cautiously, wondering if this was the right place; or if you'd been duped.
The
brochure had said the shop was renowned for it's local wares and
excellent goods.
Looking back, it seemed to good to be true.Sighing, you turn to go back to the car. However a large, red-eyed creatures stands between you and your vehicle. Larger than a horse, but appearing as one, it stares at you shrewdly as if daring you to go a step further. Blinking, you decide not to tempt fate and carefully walk backwards to the shop, all but diving in through the front door. "Ah! Don't worry about ole' Albi! He's a sourpuss, but harmless." An old woman stood atop a ladder peering at you. She suddenly grinned widely, showing a gap-toothed smile. Leaping from the ladder, she approaches. "What was that?" You ask, somewhat shrilly. "Xesum, a critter from the forest beyond those hills." You nod as if you knew what she was talking about."My Zeekii sometimes brings me abandoned Xesum eggs and I find homes for them." Zeekii?"Another beasty, don't ask." She tuts and looks you over carefully, as if sizing you up. "Yup! You'll do!"With a gleeful hum, the old woman puttered into the back, waving at you to follow. "Which one do you want?" Inside a carefully crafted trough sat a few eggs, roughly the size of basketballs. "Their heavy too!"Jumping, you stare at the woman wearily. "These are Xesum eggs? And you want me to take one?""Well, yes. You seem the big-hearted type and these guys need a lot of attention if you don't want them wild."Peering out a side window into the pasture, you watch as 'Albi' trotted around, head held high and clearly happy. You realize it was a surprisingly elegant, if not odd, looking animal. And you want one. You carefully reach into the trough to pick up one of the warm eggs.
 .: About Xesum :.
These are large omnivores with a herd mentality. They don't have to be with other xesum to thrive, but they do need to have someone or something to bond with. This is why humans who have a xesum companion enjoy their company. These are intelligent beasts who rival canines in tricks and commands they can learn, and do best when they have constant mental stimulation. Xesum's are loyal, and will not hesitate to attack those they perceive could cause harm to their 'herd'. With their large size, tusks, claws, and hooves they can cause serious harm if not outright kill threats.
No one is sure from what family xesum's evolved from: equine, bovine, or feline. Some of the locals even believe that xesum did not evolve, but were created. They've not elaborated by what they mean by this. However they came to be, each xesum has distinguishing features and traits that make them unique. Most traits are common, some uncommon, rare, and very rarely fabled.

- You can do what you like to the character once you buy it, but I ask that you not change the lineart, add traits, colors, ect. Please also don't claim Xesum's (as a species) or my art as yours.
- If you create art of your character I'd love to see it.~
- You can only buy one egg per batch.
- Buying a Xesum for someone is allowed; though you cannot buy one from that batch yourself. Trading is fine as well.

* I pronounce Xesum (Sh-eh-sum); you can pronounce it as you like.~
* A holler is what some of us in Kentucky/Appalachia call a hollow, or a v-shaped ravine or valley. Or just an area way off the beaten path.

The first three are 3mil just to see if anyone is interested. :3 Sorry about the confusion!Legencyz :: You picked up the smallest egg in the trough, realizing almost to late that it was much heavier than it looked. Almost instantly the egg began shaking, small cracks appearing in it's shell. Not seconds after you put it on the ground a little hoof breaks through, the rest of the xesum's body following shortly after. genbaw234 ::Your fingers barely brush the medium sized egg nestled between the two others before a crack splits the soft shell in two. A tiny head pops free, mane askew. It seems your new xesum will be a handful as it already tries stumbling to the edge of the trough.

You pick up the egg, but it remains still in your arms. The old shopkeeper looks worriedly at the egg and gently taps its top. "Maybe give it some time?" You nod and hold the egg closer. As you place it in the back of your vehicle and try to keep it from being tipped over, you notice it had started vibrating gently. Pleasantly surprised, you watch and wait another five minutes until a kitten paw finally cracks from the shell. Deciding to give the little guy some help, you peel away the remaining shell to reveal a small xesum, tiny horns atop its head.

Something squeaks softly in the back room, claws skittering across the old wooden floor. The old shopkeeper tuts and disappears into the back room, eyes rolling. "Ack! You look over them and finally decide on the black-and-white. Reaching inside, you pull the egg from the straw and cradled it gently. Almost instantly it began to quiver, cracks appearing along its delicate shell. Placing it on the ground, you kneel to watch as the xesum pushes its self into the world first, before wobbly making its way to your lap for a rest. The old woman tutted softly as you looked between the two remaining eggs, trying to figure out which you'd prefer. Finally, after some contemplation, you pick up the small grey egg. Thanking the shopkeeper, you place the egg in the seat of your vehicle and stare it it for a minute, wondering what you got yourself into. You'd barely gotten into the drivers seat when a sharp crack was followed by a squeak. The tiny dappled xesum stared up at you imploringly, and you notice something bright blue behind it's ear. How did it already get feathers in its mane?
