Yeh.. I'm attempting to perfect a design for my Vogar, Knives. It's pretty basic - mostly just has to do with striping, really. But that's where I'm caught. I have an idea grasped; I'm just not quite sure of it, and I don't know how I should arrange the colors.

Here's what I have at the moment. The colors shown are about those I'll probably use for his skin. The outlined segment on the front of his first.. spike-thingy will be black for sure.

Questions for yugais

- Does the 'hairline' effect look all right, or should I change it at all?
- Should I add more stripes to his face or take off the extras above his 'eyebrows' or just leave that part as it is?
- Should the lighter color be on his face and the front of his neck, while the darker one is on his eyebrows and the back of his head and neck, or vice versa?
- Does the suggestion of a collarbone there look all right, or should I just go with a simple single angle like the Vogar's official image has?
- Should I add the horizontal stripes down the back of his neck?

I love nearly everything about this piece except the snarl :c Because you can interpret the Vogar as either Reptile or Mammal you have a big variation of snarls. This is very common, and if it is part of your art style, don't let me hold you back.

In general, snarls and growls are pretty complicated, but will add great depth into your picture :D

Yah. I love this, it's just simply, waw~ I think I have to dissagree with Lolbot about the snarl. Knowing Knives that snarl suits him just fine, it shows his personality clearly. He looks rather much annoyed because Vash shot him in the leg again or something like that. Just to see what the colours looked like, I did a quick flat colour on photoshop. The lighter colour looks better on his face and the front of his neck with the darker colour on the back of the head and whatnot. The collar bone looks awesome as it is, I think you should leave that as it is. I think adding more stripes down the back would look pretty cool because compared to the rest of the image, the back of the neck looks pretty empty I think. Don't add more stripes to his face, it would ruint it I think. Adding more stripes too his face would just bee too much there, at least that's my opinion on it. Try it out just incase I'm wrong though ._. As for the hairline effect I like it :3

Overall, it's epic with a side of awesomesauce

Ah.. I was worried I may not have gotten the snarl quite right. x3 This is only my second or third attempt at one - probably a lot better than any snarl I've done before though. I s'pose I'll just have to keep practicing, huh?

I'll probably put up a new image after I make some changes according to what you've said. c: And for the colors, what if I lightened them a bit so that the lighter one is closer to his normal hair color? Y'think that would look all right? For some reason I just kinda like the idea of switching 'em so that his face is darker than the top of his head. x3
