Most of the artwork here is digital and it seems like more and
more people only want digital art now.

I love all my pencils, pastels and inks so I'm making this
thread just to prove that traditional art does still exist.
You won't find any digital pictures here!
*cough*...err... except for my banner XD

Feel free to comment on my pictures.
I love feedback, especially any constructive comments ;)

Here are a few examples:

Don't worry - traditional's not gonna die any time soon. xD The only reason we see it so much here is that we're on a digital medium. Digital looks good here, while traditional pieces look good in person.

But. Pretty nice, bro. Pretty nice.

Oh. A tip on the shading. You've certainly got having a definite light source down, but your shading looks a little flat because there's only one light source. This is rarely the case in real life, and using either multiple light sources or at least showing reflections of light from a subject's surroundings can really make things pop.

The reflections thing is my personal shading love, really. xD

It's like in those egg-shading tutorials you find all over the Internet. They usually put a lot of stress on reflected light. [link]

Also, never use black for shadows in a colored piece. o_o It makes things look much more lively to use adjacent hues, like if you were drawing something green and tinted the shadows blue. Apparently it also works with making the light cool and the shadows warm, but I can't really explain that since I haven't figured it out yet. xD

Brown shadows also work. Just something that's not just black or a base color with black added in. ;o

dory, thanks ^^

yoshi, usually I'm just too lazy to worry about extra light sources
and such XD and mostly I do shadows with a darker version
of whatever colour I'm using but I shall have to experiment
with using different colours, thanks for the tip ^^

You are fantastic! Can you draw me a Gray Fox? i don't know if that is in your element or not but I would love to have one. Can you make that? And some where in the picture it would say "Ash" in pretty letters. I don't care what oyu draw it in. Rmail me for details.

Traditional art is so nice to look at, and so much more fun in my opinion.. you get to have the oils on your hands, use your unique strokes with your brushes.. -sighs-

Anyway, lovely art you have here! I agree with yoshi about the shading, but that is really all I have to say. Great job on these.

I only do traditional art. c: I feel weird when I'm doddling if I don't have a pen or pencil in my hand. And coloring with colored pencils is so much more fun than coloring in photoshop because you really experiment with colored pencils. cx
