It's fun to talk about your favourite artists. It's also very nice to discover a new artist and see why people like a certain artist. It sort of helps everyone to get to know how you work as an artists and better improve their own perspective as an artists. So yurp just post who inspires you the most and why.
I'll start first: My favourite artist is Yoshi.taka Amano. I like him because he works as an illustrator but uses techniques that are normally reserved for fine art (like silk screening and etching). His use of gold pigment is amazing, selelctively enhancing things to make the image look more beautiful in general. The way he draws faces is distinct. His wormen and men look both adrogonous and yet very suiting on their genders. They way he integrates patterns and motifs is heavenly. They flow beautifullly across the image, not being a focal point and enhancing the movement and dynamatism within the image. The face is always shaded minimally, giving a clean look and making it a focal point. He intefrates traditional Japanese folklore into his work, also expressing interested in several cultures. I feel that I am similar to Amano as I like to explore design for different cultures. His style cannot be placed, it looks old and new at the same time (similar to how I feel about Lucien Freud and Bacon). One of his books always sits on my table, I flip through it almost every time I paint. He's just great.
(by the way, Amano did the stuff for Final Fantasy if you didn't know)
Other People I recommend you take a look at (as they inspire me a load as well): Mucha Dürer Anonymous cave painters Lichtenstein Ben Huen Murakami Miyazaki Cai Guo Qiang Ai Wei Wei (It's not that I'm being inconsistent, I just wrote the full names of people I think you won't be able to find on google if you don't have their full name)
Oh yeah, you guys should also make a list of other people. 'Cause it'll help everyone else.
I (HATE)' YOU
