There they sat. Well, Riley was upside down on the couch with her black curls brushing against the floor and her feet pressed against the wall. Her wings were crushed underneath her, but she rejoiced in the pain, knowing that she deserved it. Felix was speechless after what she had said and she was surprised the kid hadn't left yet. She didn't want him to leave and she swore at herself as the thought bubbled in her mind.

"You got a lot of guts, Felix. Now get out," she said as she pulled herself back into a normal sitting position. Felix rubbed the side of his head with one hand and glanced at her with one soft brown eye. Riley could see his hands were shaking and she bit back a snappy comment on it. "You can't be here. Not with me. Or whatever's left of me, I suppose," she muttered as she pushed herself off the couch.

When she passed by the chair where Felix was, he grabbed her wrist and pulled himself up after her. Her black eyes seemed panicked when he grabbed her other wrist before sliding his hands to her hips. They burned where he touched her and she blinked, the touch soothing and familiar, yet achingly strange all at the same time. "What are you--"she began, but the boy had already pressed his lips against hers.

Then everything went black. That smoldering, feather light touch of their lips had frenzied Riley's shadows and they had taken over the two. They were surrounded by pure darkness, but Felix kept going, memorizing the curves of her body with his hands and molding his lips against hers. When he pulled back, the shadows whisked themselves away.

Riley blinked and pulled herself from Felix's grasp. When she turned around, she gasped in horror and backed into Felix. He caught her and glanced down at her when he felt Riley's wings rustle against her back, rubbing against his skin. "You wanted answers," Riley said dully and Felix peered past her at the scene that was taking place.

They were standing a few ways away from a cliff edge. One person had his back to them, his form swaying dangerously over the edge. Riley's mind flashed back to when she had come back here after meeting Felix, her motorcycle carelessly thrown into the dirt. She shook her head and watched the boy at the edge of the cliff.

He was slightly taller and was bit more muscular, but his straight black hair still gathered in natural tips at the front of his head. "That's me," Felix murmured and he glanced down at Riley.

"What's going on?"

"You're seeing the past," she said as she turned around and buried her head into his chest. She breathed in his scent and willed it to comfort him, but it couldn't. Nothing could comfort her while she knew what was about to unfold.

The other Felix had cast his gaze into the sky, his eyes sweeping over the area. He was looking for something and disappointment flickered over his face when he found nothing. He stretched his hands out to his side and Riley knew what was coming. She wrapped her arms around her Felix and bit back a cry as the other one launched himself off a cliff.

"No!" Felix yelled and he struggled to break himself of Riley's grasp. It was no use; her arms were as strong as iron when she wrapped them around him. Riley waited a few more moments before slackening her grip. Felix pushed himself away from her and sprinted toward the cliff edge.

A flash of white stopped him in his tracks and he looked at another Riley standing at the cliff edge. Her blue eyes were a mask of horror and she wasted no time. She stretched her pure white wings out to their full extent, rays of light bouncing from the slightly golden tinged feathers, and she leaped. Felix peered over the edge and watched her shoot down to the other Felix.

He turned around and met Riley's stone face. "You saved me," he said and Riley swallowed.

"You weren't mine to save."

Going to a writer's camp tomorrow. This will be until Sunday and I probably won't be able to get on so this and everything else is going to be put on hold. xP

He was kissing her when he shouldn't. He was remembering when he shouldn't. They were together when they shouldn't. The thoughts bled through her mind, drops of scarlet blossoming on blissful memories. She had done this before and it was driving her crazy to have him again. She twined her fingers in his hair and let his body fall onto hers as they landed on the couch.

She gasped slightly as her wings ruffled painfully against the couch. He pulled back, black hair tousled and hazel eyes burning with passion. She let out a breath, black hair slightly matted to her head from a light glistening of sweat that had collected on her forehead. He pulled her up into a sitting position and pulled her against him, hands straying to her back. Instinctively, she tried to pull them even tighter against her skin.

He felt the slight outline of her wings and his hazel eyes gazed into hers. Riley matched his gaze with her black, seemingly pupil-less eyes. "Let me see," he breathed and Riley narrowed her eyes, shaking her head as she did so. One of his hands traveled up the length of her body and rested on her chin. He tilted her head up slowly and dipped his head down for another long, heated kiss.

When he pulled back, they were both dizzy and Riley attempted to clear her head. "You'll run," she murmured, black eyes losing their confident touch. He frowned and cupped her cheek in his hand.

"Never."

With that, Riley felt his hands move to the back of her skin-tight tank top again. Slowly, she unfolded her wings and felt him gasp as feathers leaked through the fabric of her shirt and brushed against his hand. When her plumage met his fingertips, she shivered, suddenly feeling overcome with need. She expanded them out as far as the vicinity would let, the black feathers brushing against everything; his fingers, the couch, and even the floor. She wrapped her wings around them, his hands sliding on the inside la
yer of feathers.

His fingers slipped along the edge of the membrane and she moaned, her wings shaking. He drew back sharply and Riley sighed. "No, that felt good. You've always done that to me," she said as she closed her eyes. Her wings drooped slightly and Riley felt his face in hers.

"What happened?" he breathed painfully.

"Happened to what?" But she knew the answer.

"You."

"After I saved you, I was exiled by my people. I was a fallen, but still, my wings had been white. It was when I fell in love with you, or rather they realized I was in love with you, that they sent the shadows after me. They didn't anticipate the fact that I would absorb them, but only because of you."

"Me?"

"You sacrificed yourself for me. At the time, I was protected by them, but they've found me. They'll kill you," she said as she pulled back sharply, wings tucking themselves into her back. "Which is why I have to go and you can never see me again," she forced herself to say as she pushed herself off of the couch.

"Why can't we be in love?" he asked, startling her. She glanced down at him and sighed, the movement ending in a painful shrug.

"I was an angel. We can't be together."

"Was," he said as he pushed himself up after her and caught her wrists with his hands. "You were an angel and I died for you. I can't be left here knowing that and the thought of you leaving-" he said as he shuddered. "Where will you go?"

"To meet my fate. To die," she said simply, black eyes cold. He grimaced, eyes laying out his confusion and desperation.

"You can't."

"I've lived long enough."

"No. Not with me, you haven't."

"Yes, I had my time with you," she muttered helplessly, fingers curling into fists. "Damn it, just let me think."

"I'll wait for you."

"I'm glad," Felix murmured into Riley's dark curls. The girl's wings shook around them, dark feathers dancing with different emotions. His touch had always sent electricity sizzling across her body and she was drawn to him like a moth to light. "Promise me you won't leave again," he whispered to her, his warm breath tickling her ear. There was a slight rasp to his voice, but it was unlike Riley's natural throaty dialect.

His lips found hers greedily, a flash of white teeth skimming across her upper lip for a moment before parting her mouth. His hands slid around her hips and he gripped her closer. Riley's wings drooped down to the sides, letting the cool night air blow around them. The zephyr seemed to warm when it caressed their heated bodies and Riley forced herself to pull back.

Felix gave her a coy smile before taking her hand and leading her over to the edge of the building. He swung his legs over the edge and she sat down next to him. He tucked a strand of black hair behind her ear and leaned back. His hazel eyes seemed to glow in the moonlight and Riley sighed, black eyes closed as she reveled in the feel of the breeze running through her feathers.

"You'd catch me if I fell again, right?" Felix asked and Riley cracked her eyes opened into slits.

"Yes," she responded immediately. "Why do you ask?" she asked as she peered over the edge.

"Just making sure."

"I'm not going to leave, Felix." she murmured as she scooted closer to him. He draped his arm around her shoulder and she saw his eyes darken slightly.

"Who was he? The man with the white wings?" Felix said, his jaw tightening as he did so. Riley pulled herself away from him and tucked her black wings against her back.

"Jay," she responded then frowned, knowing it wouldn't be a satisfactory answer for Felix. The boy looked up at her with pleading eyes and she grimaced. "He thought he loved me," she said softly. Felix's mouth settled into a frown and he refused to look Riley in the eyes. "He never did, Felix. I was always dark at heart and he refused to believe it," she muttered.

"You're not dark," he said angrily, hands curling into fists. Riley blinked and gripped his shoulder. He turned his gaze back toward her and seemed to cringe when he saw the red rings in her eyes.

"Felix, I am dark. I'm an angel that's been kicked out of Heaven and now revels in darkness," she said coldly before standing up and leaving him on the edge of the building. He did not go after her, but she thought she saw him move closer to the edge. When her fingers curled around the doorknob of the door to the roof, she turned back to him.

"Don't jump."

I dunno, but that line was bothering me. :x Revel in darkness sounded a bit odd in my mind.
