"What is it you need, Riley?" Prozettore asked as he settled himself down on the ground after much pacing. Riley sat cross-legged and across from him while Felix sat directly to her right. She wanted to lean on his shoulder for comfort, but there were more pressing matters at stake. "Jay and Katri are back, following orders from the big man himself, as per usual," she said with a snort. Though she refused to let herself lean against Felix's shoulder, the boy could sense her growing anxiety and he wound his fingers through hers. At the sight, Prozettore sighed and looked at Riley with a strained ex pression. "Young one, you have gone through so much and still, you fight for something that only brings you pain," he said softly and Riley winced. "Fel doesn't bring me pain, Mentor." she almost hissed and Prozettore only shook his head. "If you renounce your ways and tie your fate to the angels of above again, you will be free," he continued and Riley's lips curled up in an animalistic snarl. "That is not freedom. You of all people know that," she snarled and Prozettore sighed. "I know, but it is better for you than now," he said, his purple eyes darkening even more, the only sign of his anger. The rest of his face was peaceful and serene, but Riley could see the agression growing in him. "Say my name," she said suddenly and Prozettore frowned. "The shadows stripped you of it," he whispered and cast his gaze downward. Riley straightened immediately, face absolutely stricken as she looked at Prozettore, not comprehending anything. She blinked and whispered a painful 'no' before scrambling to her feet. She stumbled backward and saw Felix reach up to snag her hand. She pulled her arm back sharply, but Felix wasn't going to let her go again. "What did you say?" she heard him demand from Prozettore. When he didn't get an answer, he dashed after Riley who had run back into the forest. Riley's eyes were glazed with pain as she pushed through various tree limbs and branches. She stretched her wings out and winced from the pain as the sticks grazed her, but she welcomed the pain. Her name was lost; she was no one now, truly a being who did not exist, should not exist. No, she thought to herself. No. "Ree!" Felix shouted from somewhere in the forest behind her. Images flashed before Riley's eyes; anger at Felix, unable to control the shadows as they burst from her, Felix's blood splattering her face, staining her wings. No, she repeated and pushed herself farther. She reached the edge of the cliff and prepared to jump off when she remembered her damaged wings. Felix's arms circled around Riley's waist from behind and he jerked her back from the cliff. She turned slowly in his grasp and Felix flinched when he saw her crimson eyes, but they softened as he saw her expressionless face. Hopelessness. "Ree, you're okay. I'm here and we'll get through whatever it is. You know who you are. It doesn't matter if that's gone, you're here. With me," he tried desperately into Riley's unseeing eyes. Her words were stony and sullen, monotone as they passed through her lips, and Felix's eyes portrayed his terror. "No."

She let Felix pull her back through the woods. A husk. Slave. Worthless. Waste. Abomination. The words rolled through her thoughts, but they failed to reach the last of Riley's shattered feelings. She could feel Felix's fear through the aura he produced, the one all angels could feel. It barely registered in her sluggish thoughts, but when it did, no recognition flitted through her eyes. She couldn't comfort him, nor could she bring herself to. He was speaking to her. She realized that they had stopped and she saw Prozettore sitting in the same spot he had been in before. Anger flashed through her and Felix grabbed her arms, hoping Riley would cling to that emotion, to show something. But it slipped away and she stared lifelessly at Felix. He looked so confused and the ghost of sadness passed through Riley. He sat back down on the ground and she let him pull her into his grasp. He held her close and rocked her back and forth, but she stared unseeingly at his chin. "What's wrong with her?" he asked and Riley tilted her head slightly to look at Prozettore from the corner of her eye. Prozettore bit his lip, something Riley hadn't seen him do in a while. "Fel, every creature in this world has two names. One that is given by mortals and other living beings; and another, unpronouncable, that comes with the spirit when it comes into being. What Riley has lost is something that can't be replaced. She truly is a being that should no longer exist in this world, or at all." He glanced down sympathetically to her. "And that knowledge comes with a price." "Then why did you tell her?" Felix snarled. "Because I know she's strong enough to overcome this," Prozettore said simply and Riley met his unwavering gaze for a moment before flinching and cowering closer to Felix. She hated feeling so weak, so undeniably broken, but it felt safer than the constant fear, the constant terror that Felix could be ripped away from her at any moment. Prozettore stood and walked away, leaving Riley staring at Felix's chin blankly. Felix murmured words of nonsense, filled with love, to Riley. He stroked her hair and told her it would be alright while she shook in his arms. The shadows fled, but Riley couldn't bear to look at the white wings. The shadows had left because she had been weak. Felix kept talking, urging in the smallest of ways for her to respond. He'd brush his thumb along her cheekbone, kiss the crown of her hair, and rub her back. "Broken," she ended up choking out in a hoarse voice before wrapping her arms around Felix and pressing her head against his chest. She needed to hear his heartbeat; she held her breath. Sighing slightly, she relaxed into his grip and he held her as she listened to the steady beat of his heart. "Alive," he whispered softly back to her and stroked the small of her back. He couldn't see her eyes, but he could see the shadows that lingered in the darkened shade of the trees. He could catch sight of their writhing forms scuttling out to brush against Riley's wings; she didn't seem to mind. "Shattered," she said as she removed her head from his chest and tilted her chin up to brush her nose in the hollow of his throat. She ran her lips over his skin, her shivers stopping as his warm heat finally reached her and flooded her system. "Warm," he breathed and pulled her even closer to him, her legs coming off of the ground to rest on his lap. He hugged her and twined his fingers in her hair, palm pressed against her neck as he pulled her close. "Beautiful, glorious, good," he murmured into her ear and she pulled back, black eyes searching his for a moment. She smiled. "Mine," she whispered and pressed her lips against his.

She didn't know how much she had hurt him until she really looked into his eyes. She could still see the wariness as he watched her, scared she would slip away into that small bit of nothing again. He stroked her cheeks and murmured softly to her, and it was then that she realized tears pricked at her eyes. "You go through so much because of me. What if we can't do this?" she whispered to him and rested her palm on his warm chest to feel the thud of his heart in his chest. "We're not perfect, Ree. But we'll keep trying because I can't give this up." He rested his hand over hers and caught a few of her raven locks between his fingertips, smiling softly as he brushed the hair from her eyes. She could see the the truth on his face, the truth in his words. He voiced what she had been thinking at that moment. "I love you." With that, she didn't need his kiss to bring her back, or to wash everything away. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into a fierce hug as she wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her chin on his shoulder. "I love you, too." Felix held her tighter and sighed into her hair. "Fel, I can't do this without you, but I can't see you hurt." Pain glazed over her eyes as she peeled herself away from him.

Felix let her go, though it ached him to do so. He attempted to soothe the ache to have her in his arms by telling himself that she needed to be strong again; she needed to pick herself up and become the Riley she'd been when he'd first met her. He pulled himself to his feet and touched Riley's wrist to urge her to follow.
Riley sucked in a small breath and stood, though it meant more to her than just picking herself up. She nodded to Felix and treaded on the forest ground in Prozettore's wake, every step she took seeming to fill her with a confident air.
When she broke out into another clearing, she saw Prozettore at a stand-still, eyes closed into purple slits as he stared at the sky. She could barely hear him murmuring under his breath, but she heard a snippet of what seemed to be the name Jason. Chills crept down Riley's back, but before she could think on what Prozettore had been doing, she found her gaze matched with his.
A warm smile made his eyes crinkle and he swept his right arm out with flourish, bowing slightly as he did. "I see you have found yourself again, Riley," he murmured, though Riley could hear him clear as day. She nodded to him.
"Prozettore, we must talk," she said. His smile widened and he sat down on the ground again, gesturing with his chin for Riley to join him. She did, settling herself down in a cross-legged position while Fel sat to her right. She drew in a shaky breath as she thought.
"There are so many questions," she began, but Prozettore cut her off.
"There is only one question; one you must look into the past to find. I can not help you, Riley. But I will tell you this. You have a destiny that decides the fate of angelkind, and it involved Felix." With that, he stood and unfurled his wings.
Riley winced at the sheer brilliance of the white light that swirled in the air around Prozettore. Soft thuds sounded in the air as he beat his wings, lifting graciously from the ground and swooping upward into the sky.
Ooc; Omg, I have to go to bed. D: Before I go, know that I meant the tense change with what Prozettore said. o3o
