A Mutant in the Eye

Chapter 1: Stable Beginnings

    I started
out at the spaceport with just a few apples, a squishy for comfort, and a pocketful
of tu. I was broke and needful of a companion, and could barely afford the ship
ride.  It was hard to save up, but I knew
it was going to be worth it, for it was my dream, my way to earn recognition
and tu, and there was no going back.

    I
looked down at my baby narwi squishy. “Someday I’ll have something as special
as you… well, I mean as a real-life animal,” I whispered to myself. “And I’ll
finally be famous in the universe, and have enough money to buy a gourmet pizza
– I heard Antonio’s was delicious!” I thought of having sat down at a fancy
table, picturing my new companion with me – I wondered what it was like to have
friends and comfy clothes. Finally, it would be my chance!

    “Boarding
gate seven, to Relcore of the four planets of Res! Boarding!” the speaker rang
out. Here we go, I thought. Finally… after years of waiting.

    I
stepped onto the platform of the spaceship. Seat seven was the one I was to sit
down at. Why was it always seven? Eh, you gotta just let weird stuff go
sometimes. Anyway, I looked out the window, surveying my rugged planet. I was
leaving my home, but starting over as a new person.

    We
took off, the sensation in my body feeling more and more excited until finally,
I looked out the window… and saw beautiful Outer Space. Res, here I come!

There are many ways to earn yourself some tula in Res. (Well, you know…
mula, tu… fine, I’ll say it! Mula is another word for money! Yeesh.) The games
held in certain planets that you can get tu from, the eggs you find that you can
sell as well as other items, and the creatu you hatch from those eggs that you
find (or buy, if you are desperate). I believe there is a place in the
water-like planet where you can set creatu free, and other people find them.
And a really cool magic lake… I can’t wait to swim there!

    I
planned of doing all of those things once I got there.

    “EVERYBODY
WAKE UP! WE ARE HERE IN RELCORE SPACEPORT!” was what woke me up. Apparently,
this really weird-looking guy was a bit excited of going there. Eh.

    I
stretched as I sat up in my chair, then picked up my stuff and my squishy. Time
to get out and to my new home. I couldn’t believe it! I was really there… at
Relcore! Yes!

  
Outside of the ship, there was a small stand. “Get your clothing here,
everybody, get your clothing here! All Relcore-based clothing, for free, given
here!” words shouted from it.

    I
walked up to the stand. “Are they really free? No taxes?” I asked.

    “Oh,
none, new one!” the man who had set up the stand answered. “Here… take these!” He
pointed to a changing room. “Go ahead, take them!”

    And
off I went, thanking God for those magnificent clothes. I knew I would need
them to look good for once. I came out, ‘looking swell,’ as the giveaway man
said. I thanked him and took a nice walk to my new home in a tree, finding some
eggs on the way. Berrok, Gondra, and Zenirix, as I had studied. Common pets,
unless hatched in a rare color.

    I
finally came upon the treehouse. It was complete with an inventory room (where
the library, squishy shelf, and inventory chest were.), a hatchery where eggs
were hatched and kept and where newly hatched creatu awaited to be named, a
food pen, and a pet showroom. There was even a little shop set up at the base
of the tree… I decided to call it “Hizkoh’s Corral,” because it was a pet
selling shack. I needed to expand that, but it costed me 200 tu. That’s okay. I
found a bit on my way to the tree, which was more than two hundred. My newly
found eggs were placed in the hatchery, apples in the food pen, and baby narwi
squishy on its shelf.
