Stormkit purred and prodded Nightkit, who was still sleeping in their nest. “Wake up sleepy head.” She mewed. Nightkit yawned and stretched, her fur rippling across her back as she did so. “I’m awake, stop poking me.” She meowed grumpily.  She jumped out of the nest and followed Stormkit out of the nursery. “What do you want to do today Nightkit?” asked Stormkit. She crouched down playfully and wiggled her haunches. “How about I’ll be Doomstar and you’ll be Lightningfur?” answered Nightkit. Stormkit bared her teeth; “Sure!” she meowed and leapt at Nightkit, bowling her over. “I’m Lightningfur and I’ll kill you Doomstar!” Nightkit yelped and jumped away, yowling as she went. “You can’t kill me! DoomClan will drive you out of the forest forever!” Stormkit slipped in the dirt and ran into Addertail.

Addertail turned crossly, fangs bared but His gaze softened as he saw ReedClan’s only kits. Stormkit shrank back, her fur fluffing out to twice its size. Addertail purred in amusement. “Don’t worry, just watch where you’re going next time okay?” he told them sternly.

Nightkit nudged Stormkit. “Come on, let’s go see Foxpelt. Ripplefur says she’ll be kitting very soon!” She trotted back to the nursery. Looking behind herself in confusion, she realized that Stormkit wasn’t following.  “Are you coming?” she meowed impatiently, her paws kneading the ground.  Stormkit shook her head, as if she was clearing it. “Coming, can you go ahead?  I want to see something.”  Before Nightkit could mew another word, Stormkit had bounded off. Shrugging her shoulders, she went back to the nursery.

Stormkit ran as fast as her short legs could carry her. As she neared the dirt-place tunnel, she wrinkled her nose at the smell. Yuck she thought as she crawled through the narrow opening.  Squeezing her way out, she breathed in the refreshing forest scents. It’s so big out here!  She thought in wonderment. She opened her mouth to smell and scented a mouse. Her tail waving in excitement she began to chase it, zigzagging across the forest in chase of the mouse.
