 Vampires are all around the world, but seven families rank higher than others, the royals. Cresseda, the daughter of Prince Victor, a royal, and Princess Nadia, is having her 800th birthday when her dad, Victor, announces that she has to go to a special academy in Canada. Even though Cresseda is 800, she's physically 16 due to vampires only ageing one year every fifty years. Leon, her best friend that is two years, 200 mortal years, older than her, Dessen, a royal that is to be married to Cresseda in an arranged marriage later, and Cresseda are going to the academy where they will spend the next two hundred years of their lives. The academy will teach them how to fit in with humans, to properly control their thirst, and to use their powers to their advantage.

 

     I sat on my bed patiently waiting for my date, Leon, to arrive. I jumped off of my bed and looked in my dresser mirror. I was well prepared for the occasion.

     The makeup that I was wearing made my gray eyes look stunning. My light brown hair was pin straight. A white gold crescent moon pendant dangled around my neck. My dress was a crimson color and from the waist up, it was covered in black lace. The dress was crimson from the waist down and dangled just above my knees. I smiled at myself; my teeth, including my fangs, were perfectly white.

     Three knocks sounded on the door. I calmly made my way towards the door and opened it. Leon was down on one knee with his head tilted to the side, a sign of respect to vampires of a higher rank. "Rise," I said. He arose quickly and I wrapped my arms around him. "You know you don't have to do that for me, you know?"

     "I know," he said with a smile as I pushed myself off of him. "Your dad gets mad if I don't" His smile turned into a smirk.
