Our Numbers are so small because it takes a very strong body to host this disease. Many die before the disease has a chance to take over your body. You see, there is a specie of animal out there, the wolf with wings, that has never been human. All animal. Completely normal, but its so rare that humans haven't learned of it yet. We got this disease from them. There is so much DNA in their saliva, and a special toxin that kills small prey easily, that it begins to attack everything inside us and make us their own. Sort of like a hostage takeover: terrorists invade, say, a plane, and begin to take over each part. First, probably the p*censored*engers, then the cockpit, and the pilots, and so on, so on. That's pretty much how it works in our bodies. But we can pretty much cantrol this. We can't stop it from happening, but we can control when it happens. That's how some stay in their human bodies. They kind of bring that human piece of them back. They won't allow the change. Which, in my opinion, is a bad idea. It puts way to much stress on your insides.
So, anyway, you must be thinking: who is this person telling the story, and how does she know so much about these "wolves with wings"
