When I get home I'll put the first chapter but for now I'm going to put the pictures so you can see who the characters are...  Kamoan- Blue Jay wings
 Jona- Black scaly skin, black dragon wings, ability of dragon sight and fire breather
  Jesin- Hawk wings or Centaur body
 Urr- (Slightly browner hair) Owl wings, vision, and hearing, ear tuffs under hair
  
Chapter 1 Sirens were going off and you could see the red and white flashing lights in the distance. They were getting closer, never quite here but almost. My time was up, there was nothing else I could do to help my friend. I had to leave before they discovered me. Hi, my name is Kamoan. I just witnessed something you never wanna see. My best friend, Pearl, had just been shot by a crazy lunatic. Her real name is Jona, but that’s beside the point. As she had lay on the moss covered bed of the crappy house that we had found she had managed to utter one more word before she became unconscious. She had uttered the word “Peteren.” I don’t know what it meant but I couldn’t stick around to find out. As I left Pearl at the broken down house, I ran into the field behind the house. Knowing that no one had seen me, I looked back in time to see the cop cars and the ambulance show up at the house. Then they took a stretcher in and came back out with Pearl strapped to it. They put her in the ambulance and drove off to the nearest hospital just as the sun was starting to come up. I left the field behind and started to walk into the dark forest.Welcome to my world. I left the forest and ran across to another field. By this time I was almost to my destination, which happened to be Malachite. Malachite was the leader of a gang I happen to be tied to. Ironically enough he lived in the west. You probably don’t know this but from Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana and everything farther west was covered in trees. A couple of years back a scientific lab had gone wrong and most of the US had been covered by vegetation. It had taken a mere amount of three weeks. Six months later the survivors had fallen under Malachite. It had been difficult at first, but we had grown used to his extreme temper, sudden sexual impulses, and controlling voice. I guess I’m lucky to still be alive.His top man was Fulgurite. He has had his eye on me for awhile now. I don’t care for him.I dreaded about telling Malachite that Jona had been caught. Which means that the Easters’ could find out more about us.Easters’ are the humans that did not get affected by the scientific experiment. One more thing, when the black cloud came almost everyone, including me, was infected. When this cloud was surrounding you it some how made you have part of the animal closest to you. I was closest to a blue jay, therefore I can morph until I have wings… like so.A flash of light later and I now have wings on my back. Jumping of a small hill I flew the rest of the way to Malachite’s palace. Once I had arrived at the palace I morphed back into a human. By the way, my rock name is Aquamarine.Malachite had this really weird thing about giving us rock or gem names. Anyways, as I made my way into the palace and just before I opened the doors to the throne room, I was hit with the rancid smell of carrion. I know that someone had visited him earlier because his wings were out, buzzards wings always smell like carrion, no matter where you are. I walked up to him.“Well?” He asked.“Pearl was taken by the Easter’s.” I said shamefully, deciding to get straight to the point.“WHAT?” Yelled Malachite.“It wasn’t our fault; some lunatic with cat in him shot her.” I said defensively. “Well now they have one of ours, so what are we supposed to do about it?” Asked Malachite angrily.“I can think of something…” Said Fulgurite mischievously.Stay out of this! I almost screamed at him.“I’ll go and rescue her.” I said calmly instead.“That’s more like it.” Said Malachite.“You’re excused.” Said Fulgurite, deflated.“And bring Pearl back this time, Aquamarine.” Said Malachite menacingly. As I left Malachite’s palace I could smell the stench of carrion on the wind. I hope he’d put his wings back soon, it would drive anyone up the wall, besides Fulgurite. Now all I had to do was figure out who this Peteren guy was and why Pearl had uttered his name as she fell unconscious. Oh well, might as well head east. I have to get Pearl out of there anyways. I could try to find Lexa. She’s one of Pearls oldest friends. But then again, Lexa is part unicorn. This might surprise you but Lexa was patrolling the zoo on her horse when the big black cloud came. She was on a horse and about two feet away from a rhino. So the magic of the cloud gave her the body of a horse and the magic of a unicorn horn. Her mate, Urr, is easier to find though. And the good thing is that Lexa is always nearby. I jumped and my wings appeared on my back. Lexa and Urr live in what’s known as the northern part of Colorado. Right now I was flying over Kansas. I finally landed in northwestern Colorado. I kept my wings out so that they knew a friend was coming. A rustle of bushes went off to my left but I kept going. I walked until I came to a small clearing. There was a small rock and a big rock in the middle. I guess its supposed to represent them or something. “I know you’re here Urr.” I said loudly.Seconds later a teen with dark brown hair and hazel eyes flew down. Two flashes of light and his owl vision and tawny owl wings disappeared. “What do you want?” He asked as he crossed his arms over his chest. “I need your help, Lexa’s too.” I said.“What kind of help?” Urr asked.“Jona’s been captured by the Easter’s and I need someone she trusts to help me find her.” I said quickly.“We’re listening.” Urr said as he tilted his head slightly.So I told him the story till I was at the point where I was with him now.“I see, well Lexa is willing to help you, but I’m not so sure.” Said Urr thoughtfully. Then he frowned and looked at something behind him. “Fine, I’ll help too.” He said uneasily but was rewarded with the appearance of Lexa as she hugged him. Lexa had short brown hair with brown eyes. Her horn was still showing and it was a wonder that Urr wasn’t afraid of getting stabbed by it. “We have to get her before Malachite starts to look for us.” I pointed out.“Right.” Said Urr as he looked at Lexa. “Let’s go.”I’ll follow on the ground. Said Lexa in my mind.Urr and I just jumped up with outstretched wings in response. Urr and I flew to the Easter’s border with invisible Lexa following close behind. It turned to dusk and we tried to find a place to sleep.“Where is there to sleep?” Asked Urr. “There are abandoned houses all along here.” I said, remembering where Pearl had been shot.“Any nearby?” Asked Urr.“Yes, one just down the road.” I said as I pointed north.“Good.” Said Urr.How much is still intact? Lexa asked in my head.“Pretty decent, I would say.” I replied back. You know I’m right beside you. She said as she flickered in and out of sight.“Don’t waste your strength.” Muttered Urr. The old house came into view. It was one of the houses that along this road that still had a safe standing second floor. “Are there any provisions inside?” Urr asked. “Depends on who’s living there or who used to live there.” I said under my breath.I’ll go check. Said Lexa.“Be careful.” Urr warned. There is only one, he cries quietly. Said Lexa when she had gotten back.“Do you know his name?” I asked.No, but he cries for a Vax. I believe her rock name is Gypsum. Said Lexa. “What could’ve happened?” Asked Urr.I am not sure. Said Lexa, unsure of herself. “Well I’m gonna find out who he is, and if we can find a place to sleep.” I said determinedly.I’ll follow behind. Said Lexa. “What will I do?” Asked Urr.“Stay out here and wait, I guess.” I shrugged.“Be careful.” Urr said to Lexa.I will. Said Lexa.“Lets go.” I said, wondering why she had let me hear that.We entered the house and I felt Lexa’s hand on my shoulder. I followed the crying until I saw the teen around the corner. Lexa suddenly sent me a picture of the Vax he was crying about. She had short brown hair with blonde highlights and green eyes. She also had black cat ears.“Hello?” I asked as I came around the corner slowly.“Who goes there?” He said, suddenly jumping up.I instantly noticed that he had a black cat tail just like the Vax chicks ears.“A friend.” I said carefully.“How do I know your not bluffing?” He asked, as his eyes turned into a cats.“Because I know why you’re crying.” I said.“But that could mean you’re a foe.” He said aggressively. “Not if I’m trying to rescue a friend!” I said back, getting annoyed.Be careful. Warned Lexa.I am. I said, angrily in my head.“What do mean?” He asked cautiously.So I told him about Pearl. He listened quietly and eventually sat down.“I believe you.” He said when I had eventually finished.“Cool. Well as long as me I have something else to tell you.” I shrugged.He instantly tensed up. “What?” He asked nervously.“Lexa is here with me and her mate Urr is waiting outside.” I confessed. He must be worried sick. Said Lexa in both of our heads.He jumped up and started to look around frantically.Its okay, its just me. Said Lexa as she came into view.He looked around once and then leaned against the house wall.Is it okay if I tell Urr he can come in? Lexa asked.“Sure, whatever.” He said gruffly.So as Lexa called to Urr, I talked to him.“So what’s your name?” I asked.“Brandolk, but I preferred to be called Emerald.” He said.Just then Urr landed in through the window.“What the heck is that?” Emerald yelled as he backed up against the wall.That is my mate, Urr. Said Lexa coolly.“Oh.” Said Emerald.“Why don’t you tell us why you were crying.” I asked gently.Emerald glared at me.“Fine.” “It started a week ago. Gypsum had been getting attacked by these group of guys. Most of them had crow spirit but their leader is part wolf. You wouldn’t believe the fangs on that guy! Anyways, we were running away from them because they were bent on mating with Gypsum. There were no other females around. So we were running and one of their flyers caught up to us and contacted the others. In a few minutes six or seven had surrounded us. We fought off as many as we could, but they were just too strong for us. They beat me down and took Gypsum away from me.” Finished Emerald as tears started to fall again.“Okay then…” Said Urr awkwardly.“What are you going to do about it then?” I asked.“I don’t know what to do.” Said Emerald as he hung his head.Should we help? In return he could help us get Pearl back, after we help free Gypsum, I mean. Suggested Lexa.“I don’t know.” I said back.“Who are you talking to?” Asked Emerald.“Lexa. For some reason she won’t talk out loud.” I muttered.“That’s because she can’t!” Said Urr defensively.“What do you mean she can’t?” I said as I turned my attention to Urr.“The black cloud.” Muttered Emerald.“What about the black cloud?” I screamed at them.Lexa disappeared and I’m guessing she went over to Urr because I could see him looking like he was hugging something. “It gives you a quality that you can’t get rid of.” Said Urr.“Like what?” I asked.“I cant get rid of this tail.” Emerald said as he wagged his cat tail.“I have ear tuffs but you cant see them because of my hair.” Said Urr as he lifted his hair, showing his ear tuffs.And I can’t speak unless its with my mind, and I have a bump on my forehead when my horn is not showing. Said Lexa.“Then what is my ‘quality’ as you call it that I cant get rid of?” I asked, annoyed. “Most likely your eyes, they’ve been turning a bright blue since we’ve started.” Said Urr.
And a little beady. Said Lexa.“Great. How are we supposed to get Pearl now?” I complained.“Who knows. I guess we’ll just have to wing it.” Said Urr.“Hello? What are we going to do about Gypsum?” Screamed Emerald.“We don’t know yet.” Replied Urr quietly.“Why don’t we just sleep on it for now?” I suggested.I’m tired. Said Lexa.“I am too.” Said Urr.“Fine then we sleep on it.” I said.
