Freedom Ch. 2
“Ow…” Kurami whined, standing up slowly to look down at a boy around her age with shoulder-length, shaggy black hair, sky blue eyes, and…Were those wings?
They were!
A pair of black feathered wings was now splayed out as the boy mumbled something in a language she couldn’t understand. Probably curses. He stood, folding his wings and finally showed her what he was wearing. A tattered black shirt that had barely any fabric left, a pair of faded denim jeans with holes in the knees, and a simple black cap on his head. “Watch your step next time, girl.” He growled until he got a good look at her. “Oh! I-I’m sorry, miss!” He exclaimed, bowing. Kurami felt her cheeks burn as her blush became evident. “What the sudden change in attitude?” She asked, tilting her head slightly, confused. “You’re the one we’ve been waiting for. The one who will take us back to Heaven.” He stated, holding out his hand to help her up, blue eyes sincere. “Me? I’m just a normal high-school student.” “You are far from normal, Isari.” He said, grinning. “Isari? My name’s not Isari. It’s Kurami.” She crossed her arms. “That is your human name. Your angel name is Isari.” The seemingly arch-angel boy explained. “My human name was Kurako. Now, I am Malul.” He stated, chuckling as his wings disappeared, his hair shortened, and his eyes darkened. A few red streaks appeared in his hair as he yawned, brushing dirt off of his now-repaired black tee that had a silver winged wolf with its lips curled back into a snarl. Then he moved on to his repaired blue-jeans, only to look up and find Kurami staring at the demonic silver wolf on his shirt, looking terrified. “Isari? Is something wrong?” Mal- No. Wait. He was Kurako. “I’m…not…I…sa…ri…” She muttered, her vision going black as gravity pulled her limp body towards the ground. But, she never touched the ground. She was caught in Kurako’s arms, the angel-boy slowly standing up, flaring his returned wings, only to make them disappear again when he remembered that Kurami lived here. He took her into the house, gently setting her down, then walked off to find a wet rag to place on her forehead.
Meanwhile, Kurami was having that same nightmare, only this time, /she/ was the little girl.
No. Not a dream…
A memory.
Kurami made a muffled screaming sound as she jolted awake, feeling warmer than usual. She looked up to see Kurako asleep…And she was on his lap. Her face went red, then pink when she realized that she had p*censored*ed out and he was probably just trying to make her more comfortable.
‘He’s so…Serene…’ She thought, yawning softly and curling up against Kurako’s chest, slowly falling asleep once more.
That time, the only thing she dreamt of were the happy times in her life.
Kurako’s eyes fluttered open at the feeling of someone curling up against his chest. He looked down, seeing Kurami happily asleep against him. He smiled, wrapping his arms around her. Then, he, too, fell asleep once more, dreaming happy dreams.
Kurami yelped, the persistent beeping of her alarm clock startling her out of her happy dreams. She blinked, wondering why she hadn’t fallen off of her couch yet. She looked up, cheeks burning when she saw why she didn’t fall. ‘Why…Why did he wrap his arms around me?’ She wondered, staring at him for a couple minutes, then trying to wriggle her way out so she could get ready for school. Kurako mumbled something in a foreign language, pulling Kurami closer. She gained another shade of red, then decided to try something to try and wake him up. “Kurako…Kurako!” Kurami gently nudged him in the ribs with her elbow. Kurako groaned softly, then with a yawn, he began to wake up. His eyes opened and he found himself staring right into Kurami’s, blue locked on green. “Did something happen?” He asked, growing a bit concerned. “I have to get ready for school….I don’t need to be late.” Kurami explained, trying to wriggle out of his arms again. He unwrapped his arms, letting her free to scurry off to her room to at least wash her uniform quickly, dry it, then put it back on and brush her hair, putting the colored highlights back in. She yawned softly, walking back out, then into her kitchen to make herself a couple pieces of toast. After she ate, she grabbed her bag and ran out her door, heading off to school. Unknown to her, someone was following, watching from the trees. Silent as a shadow, the only sound the soft thud of paws against the earth. The gleaming red eyes of…something followed Kurami’s every move.
