Kitten, a small blak lab, sat at the three marble door steps waiting for Emma, and Niki to get home. Emma, a thirteen year old with beautiful blue eyes and dark red hard-with hints of black-and Niki, a forteen year old with promising grey eyes that seemed to leak threw your soul, and her nice silk like blonde hair that waved in the wind as she pas.sed by you. Both of them are sisters, the owners of Kitten. Who knows why thats his name, though hes very cute. When the girls get home his normal ruteen goes on...

1. Wag, jump and, bark 2. Get patted on the head then run inside 3. Eat food and then get a dog cookie 4. Be snuggled with on the couch by the blonde one 5. Fall asleep between the two, next to their warm bodies

Every day Kitten waited from dawn til dusk. Sitting there waiting for his lovely owners to return to his side.

Chapter 1

"Mrs. Brooks is making me do a project on a dogs life span..." Niki slouched on the couch and patted Kitten on his big round forhead. He gave out a small yip and a tiny whine, then he ran to the back door. Emma grabbed a coke can from the frige and opened the back door. Kitten ran out and dashed in circles around the back pateo. Emma closed the door and sat down next to Niki, "At least we have a dog. And your not doing a survey on baken!" She opened her back pack and pulled out a packet-with at least eight-ten pages-She flipped to the last page and sat it on Niki's lap. Niki read the page aloud, "Go around your neighboor hood and survey at least six people about the topic you have chosen..." Niki stopped and looked at Emma..."Why are you upset? You picked the topic!" She threw the packet back at Emma. It landed sprawled across her lap. She folded it back together and started planning out a way to survey people. "Ya, but." Suddenly Kitten started barking like crazy. "Be quiet!" Niki took off her shoe and threw it at the back door. It made a loud shattering noise as the leather shoe hit the screen door. The barking stopped, then started a few moments later.

Chapter 2

Niki let out a sigh and pushed her self up and off the couch. Emma followed her in a curious and worried way, "Um, Niki. What if somethings wrong with Kitten? What if somebodies in our backyard?" By the time Emma finished Niki was allready in the backyard. "Emma!" Niki let out a loud screach. Emma looked around and Niki was nowhere to be found. She rushed to the big white rose bush in the back, to her surprise something was in their backyard. Emma cluched Niki's arm as tight as she possable could without breaking her own fingers. To their surprise there was a giant griphan like creature in their backyard snuggling with Kitten. Kitten didn't seem to care, he was gently snugged up against the creatures chest staring at Niki and Emma as if nothing as wrong.

Continuation of Chapter two

Kitten let out a yip then a sigh. The creaturs ears pricked up then its head lifted as it looked down at the dog. Emma let out a squeak and looked at Niki, "Do you see what I see?" She whispered as low as she could. Niki was surprised, to surprised to talk. She slowly nodded her head up...then down. The huge monster looked at the girls, then Kitten, then the sky and got up to its feet. The griphan spread it wings, a beautiful mixture of red, orange, and yellow. It let out a caw then leaped to the sky. Soon it had dissapeared into the sunsetting world above them.

Chapter 3

Once the griphan was gone Emma ran over to Kitten, who had rolled over on his back after loosing the support of the griphan. She hugged him and looked for any injuries. She looked back at Niki, who was still staring up at the sky. Emma rushed over to her with Kitten in her arms, "Niki? Are you ok...Niki!" She shook Niki and she looked back at Emma. Niki held her head and then sat down on the top step of the porch. "Ya, but. When that creatur stared at me...I heard it talk when it crowed. It said...A new day is apon my people. Save our world...She looked at Emma then ran inside going straight to her room. Kitten followed Emma inside and curled up in his dog bed. Next to the firplace him and Emma sat together huddled for warmth beacuse Niki locked her out of their room.

Chapter 4

When Niki awoke Emma was outside playing fetch with Kitten. "Go long Kitten!" Emma threw a stick as far as she could. Into the forest Kitten ran to retreave it for her. Niki stayed in the house with peace and quiet working on her project. After three minutes of waiting for Kitten, Emma got worried. She began to walk into the forest. No matter how bright the sun shone the forest was dark and scary. "Ki...Kitten?" Emma walked slowly threw the forest. She kept looking behind her, feeling as if someting was following her. Two large shadows dashed across the leafy floor. Emma panicked and ducked under a log. A little howl came from farther down, "Kitten!" Emma yelled. Five more shadows ran by and the leaves rustled. Emma leaned up againsted the log and trembled. She started to cry.

Continueation of Chapter 4

Emma wiped the tears away with her rist. She scrunched her legs close to her body trying to stay hidden as much as possable. When she heard feet run across the floor she ducked down closer and closer. Soon she was so far down she was practicly laying on the floor. There was another small but loud howl. Emma kept on crying this time even harder thinking to herself. What evers out there is probably going to kill me...It allready captured Kitten! Just then she stood up. Her hands curled into fists and her arms tensened. Her dark hair hung infront of her face. She slowly lifted her head and looked forward. She began to walk forward, trying not to let fear over come her.

Chapter 5

After walking for awhile she came apon a larg stick, just then did Emma relize that was the stick she threw for Kitten. Her heart pounded so hard it felt as if it was a ticking time bomb. She stopped and took a few deep breathes, calming herself down. Then she continued. Soon she started seeing large feathers spread across the floor here and there. There were all sorts of colors of them. From Blue and Green, to Orange and Purple. Emma quickly ran behind a tree. She had seen at least twenty of those large griphans, even a couple baby ones.
