Prologue

The dragons visited earth a long time ago, in the Mesozoic period, the age of the dinosaurs. They could use secret warp tunnels, hidden in the ground where only the dragons knew of them. They wished to expand their population to other planets, but couldn’t find any planet that it was possible that they could exist on that they liked, as dragons are exceedingly fussy, some lacking enough greenery, some with terrain too rough, others uninhabited.

 Then they came to Earth. But the superior dragons were not impressed with the dinosaurs, and found most of them rude and disgusting, or at the very least uncivilised. So they returned to their own planet, which orbited the star Mirphos.

 Another few billion years later, Mirphos was due to explode. A party was sent back to Earth to re-examine this candidate planet to relocate to. When they got there, they discovered the human population. This, they were impressed with, as this species was obviously quite advanced, and refined. But when the dragons revealed themselves with pride to the human race, many men turned on them immediately, killing some in their distrustfulness.

Half that weren’t injured escaped and fled the globe but the other half were blinded by first impressions, and made to reason with the humans, and so went into hiding.

 Though men in general never changed their ideas and, though a few welcomed the dragons, eventually all were slain.

So what happened to those who took flight from Earth? Put simply, they discovered a world where they could finally dwell in peace, Nicoshaul.

But there was one thing this paradise lacked...adventure, the one thing that coursed through the blood of all dragons. It was in their nature to go out and learn about the universe. Yet none dared to leave the safety of Nicoshaul. That is, until the new king was born, Rakisho...
