I've posted this before. Used to be in the blogs, but not anymore. I just like getting reviews, so I'll leave it here for people to read/give opinions.

“Kodiah… what…what is that thing?!” His voice held much tension, helping further the mood of anxiety drifting in the air. Grey eyes glanced around the terrain with much caution before returning to look at the man who was crouched beside him; a face seeming more than stunned and it seemed oblivious he was just as confused.
“I can’t say, Iksu. It’s nothing like the monsters you’ve hunted before. Even with what I know I can’t give to a definition to its species.” His voice fell silent, one hand moving to replace the blonde strands of hair from their place in front of his soft blue eyes. “If anything should be said, I wouldn’t rush into the situation. Luck may be on our side; if that’s so we might just be able to slink out without it-“
“Kodiah, you’re such a girl. If we simply avoided the problem, we wouldn’t learn anything about it.” He chuckled, reaching down to lift his giant sword with one hand and swing it over his shoulder. “But I would never force you to do anything, so we may leave if you want.”
“I’m not that feminine.” He huffed, crossing his arms and flicking his hair aside once again with a swing of his head. “I’m just trying to choose the best option here. What I think is the best, anyways. You lead the way and I’ll follow.”
Nodding, the hunter took much care in slinking through the heavy linage of trees, keeping his eyes locked on the strange beast only a distance away. The darkness of night didn’t help him see much of what is was, but the creature had seven piercing eyes; tendrils of white smoke wafting from the open maw that was heavy with much saliva. It stood frozen like a stone, muscles tensed as if waiting for any sign of movement, head cocked sideways and tail raised up as if to balance the rest of its powerful limbs. Just being able to see the outline of such a beast told him it was nothing to fool with, size meeting with that of a rhino, and the evident gashes in the ground that easily showed it had lethal talons.
The two kept pressed to the coverage they had as silence seemed to be the only thing around, movement a thing that seemed to be nowhere but with themselves. Kodiah had no want to come face to face with such a dangerous creation, and he could feel himself muttering words of liberation as if it would help the two escape. How such a thing could have suddenly appeared was beyond what his mind could have placed with logic, and it left him very much perplexed. Mind somewhat misplaced, he didn’t notice that before him happened to be a slope in the ground, and with a quick motion he found himself falling and yelping; the sudden action caused the beast to let out an ear curdling screech, and moments after Iksu’s cursing.
With a fluid and swift motion the beast seemed to vanish from its standing place, now lunging towards Kodiah with its claws outstretched and jaws wide open with the same scream still emitting. The man was suddenly overtaken by a horrible fear, but from much experience he forced himself to remain calm, quickly repositioning himself to leap out of the way if needed. Though it had much speed in its gate the beast didn’t make it to Kodiah; instead it released another shrill cry and made an attack to its side, and through the darkness he could see blood beginning to empty from its hip. Trying his best to squint through the darkness he could only assume Iksu was now taking on the beast; despite his own relief from it turning away he had no want for the hunter to be in harm’s way. But for a man like Iksu, getting him to stay out of danger was nearly impossible.
Now more infuriated than before the creature charged towards Iksu, its shadowy figure soon meeting up with the human in only moments; lashing out with its neck it tried to bite him however it could, but the only thing it captured was a blade between its mighty jaws. With another yell it recoiled backwards, head thrashing madly and liquid spurting from its mouth. Grunting in somewhat of a frustrated pain, Iksu could only try and figure out how badly the creature seemed to have cut his arm, for it seemed one of its teeth had stabbed him. Desperate to get away from this thing, he could only shout out in hopes his friend would respond.
“Kodiah! Get away from this area now! I’ll meet up with you later, but for now just get out of here!” He found himself cursing once again as the creature steadied itself, now crouching for another attack. “If I don’t meet you in at least one day’s time at the latest you can look for me!”
At his words, Kodiah nodded to himself and reluctantly turned, dashing off into the expanses of the forest. Iksu, however, raised his sword again with his opposite hand and readily braced himself for the next attack. As he expected from much experience the beast charged towards him the exact same way it had before, this time keeping its head curled back and coming at him head on. It was only seconds before Iksu felt the whole force of the monster slamming into him, and he could only yell out as he was sent spiraling, then slamming into a nearby tree. Pain wracked his being as he could only lay there and struggle to get up, ears soon honing in on the sound of the creature’s footsteps approaching. Gritting his teeth he gripped his sword once more, still ready to fight although he was not in a proper position.
The sound of a heavy growling soon became evident above him, and he could feel it leaning over his body. Seven harshly glowing red eyes scanned over him –as if inspecting the damage inflicted- then it struck out for another attack. A burning heat ripped through his left shoulder as it took a hold with jagged teeth, latching on and crunching downward with immense strength. For the first time in so long Iksu could actually hear himself screaming, and he aimed his sword to repeatedly stab the creature through the neck, desperate to get the thing off of him. It soon tightened its grip and raised him off the ground, snarling loudly before flinging the hunter towards the sea of trees once again. Again he was filled with the same antagonizing feeling that lingered through his limbs as he crashed roughly onto the ground; his sword whirling through the air and landing many feet away from him.
His vision now becoming blurred, he could tell that it was turning around for another round. Never before had he been faced with anything this brutal; those stabs to the neck should have been more than enough to bring it down. Groaning, he could only watch as it began to prowl towards him again with streams of blood coming from its mouth and neck. Claws sinking deep into the earth it seemed to quake with power with every step, and soon it was just close enough to take a finishing lunge. Shamefully Iksu sealed his eyes shut, praying that by some stray miracle something would save him. It seemed like minutes as he lay there in his own pain, but nothing seemed to come. Suddenly, almost as loud as when the creature attacked him for the first time another screech tore through the air, and he couldn’t help but open his eyelids again.
Barely could he see a blur of gold streaking through the night sky towards the beast, and every time it made contact the creature seemed to scream with an apparent frustration. The new opponent –so quick and agile- was something that Iksu had never seen in his life, and soon he began to wonder what was going on. This thing seemed almost equipped to face the monster; its claws, beak, and eyes shimmered a deep golden coloring, and its body seemed almost blended with the coloration of night. It struck again and again, tearing at the seven eyed creature and almost making it seem inferior. As the match continued Iksu soon found that it was becoming harder and harder for him to keep his eyes open, and he knew that the amount of blood he lost was more than the reason why. Gritting his teeth, he could only mutter a few words before everything went blank.
“Well, isn’t this a crappy way to die…”
