Continuation. Still UNEDITED!
“Hello Matsua,” she said cheerily, in that melodic voice that made Matsua’s head spin, “I was just asking where in Relcore you were heading.” Matsua, thankfully, realized he was able to think and to talk with some intelligence.
“I was just going with my friend Coffee to Adagu City. We’re going to visit one of her friends who is a member of the Exploration Team of New Things,” he answered in a calm, smooth voice. So far, so good.
“Oh, that’s cool,” Crystal said brightly, “I’m going to Adagu City as well. I happen to be a Trainee for the ETNT [the Exploration Team of New Things], so we should be seeing a lot of each other.” Wow, Matsua thought. It was this comment that made him paralyzed once again. He had this strange sinking feeling that this meiko that he liked was so much better than him. Coffee saved him from any embaras-sing silence.
“I thought that last time you met Mat you had a mate, if I’m not mistaken. Where is he?” she asked in a sweet, innocent voice. Usually one would think that this type of question would be prying. However, the way Coffee delivered the line made it sound like a perfectly reasonable thing to ask. Crystal looked surprised, but answered.
“Oh, him. I caught him with a perfectly gorgeous blonde meiko with this round blue eyes and a perfect smile and a wonderful name… Much more beautiful than me, apparently,” she said, her voice full of bitterness and sadness. Coffee looked sympathetically at Crystal. Matsua, however, blurted a couple of words out without thinking.
“That’s awful! There isn’t any meiko out there prettier than you. That jerk was stupid for dumping you for some other meiko,” he said. There was a moment of silence that cmae afterwards that suddenly made Matsua realize what he had said. There isn’t any meiko out there prettier than you. Oops. What a way to break it to a female meiko that you obviously like her. Crystal looked absolutely blown away and a pink tinge appeared on her face. Coffee looked as though she were about to laugh, though she held it in. Matsua felt more and more like crawling into a hole and staying there for the rest of his life. However, the electronic voice saved the moment and broke the silence.
“Landing. Please note we will be slowing down. Do not attempt to exit the portal until we come to a complete stop. Thank you.”
The three stood there in awkward silence.
“Th-thank you—“ Crystal started to say, at the same exact time Matsua was saying, “U-um, s-sorry…” They both instantly fell silent again, looking at the floor. A couple seconds later, the electronic voice came on again and the three walked out of the portal.
“Hmmm… The Relcore Portal Station’s huge too,” Matsua said in order to break awkward silence. Coffee’s ears twitched.
“Very large,” she said, “but not as big as Scria’s.” Crystal stayed silent for a moment.
“I think that the Relcore Portal Station is often underrated,” she said after the short pause. Then they all hastily walked out of the Portal Station, as though trying to escape the inevitable silent that would ensue.
As soon as they walked out of the portal station they found themselves in Adagu City. Matsua had only ever been here once, and even then he had been very little. The city had also probably grown a lot in size since then. Famously known for its Avocado Ice Cream, Adagu City was supposed to be one of the best place to be in Relcore. Skyscrapers and buildings were positively everywhere. Creatu with wings flew over top of the city. There were so many of them up there that it made Matsua want to join them all. Most of them were gondras, of course. They were native to Relcore and were actually on more of the common side. However, Matsua saw many others who were native to other planets as well. On the ground level, shuttle buses took creatu everywhere in the city. Many creatu would simply walk—there must have been hundreds of berroks pushing their way through the crowded sidewalks.
“See those gondras with the purple capes on flying in the skies?” Crystal questioned. Both Coffee and Matsua looked to the sky. She was right. Along with the hundreds of flying creatu in Adagu City’s sky, half of them seemed to be gondras wearing these strange purple capes that were tied around their scaly necks.
“They are Adagu City’s message system. They deliver the mail to everything around here,” she said.
