Body Politic, just another machine

They say nothing that they really mean

Yet the world as a whole must listen and believe

The lies that they spread in their desire to deceive

And rule the earth with their castles of air

You see mere illusion, it’s not really there

And they can but watch as their palaces fall

They win yet in the end they stand to lose it all

Rebellion, society’s newest way to conform

And now their excess is almost the norm

You no longer see the conservative tweed

And the jackets of old, maybe we need

Some way to go back, revisit the past

Yet fashion is feckless, it’s not built to last

And deep down inside, though they try to forget

They’re slaves to the system they can but regret

Media, shallow, want to pretend

That life’s but a play from beginning to end

They inflate the bad things, but only their choice

When was the last time we were given a voice?

Twisting the strings to hear what they say

They think themselves master of all they survey

A life built on lies is at most a charade

Yet they won’t be happy ‘til they’ve played their last card

Freedom of choice now naught but a dream

We are but puppets, moved by those unseen.

So yeah, writing poems for those who want them. Free of charge, just post. xD
