"It's pretty cold out here..."Becky muttered to herself. She was struggling through a fierce blizzard in Frozen Vale. Atquati was her home planet, and she was used to the temperature, but today the blizzard was even more ferocious than usual. Even AuroraGirl (or Aurora, for short), who was Becky's beloved Ahea, seemed to be shivering. Becky crouched down to her creatu.
"I think you should have stayed behind, Aurora." she said.
"Aheeeeee!" Aurora squealed in reply. She cuddled up to Becky. Becky forced a smile and stroked Aurora's smooh skin. Then she stood up.
"Maybe we should go back." she muttered. " I don't think that I'm going to find any Tesuri eggs in this weather..." And that's when she heard it; a mysterious and haunting noise echoing through the blizzard. What was it? It almost sounded like.....music? Aurora suddenly squealed and jumped.
"AHEEEEEEEEEEEAA!" Aurora raced off. Becky soon gave chase.
"What's wrong, Aurora?" she cried. "Where are you going?"
Eventually, Aurora came to a halt next to a frozen lake. Becky caught up with her. The blizzard had stopped now, and Aurora was jumping about excitedly.
"Aheeeeee! Aheee! Aheeeeeeeeeeeeee!" she squeaked.
"What's gotten into you?" Becky asked. But then she head it again; the mysterious song.
"Wait a minute..." Becky muttered. "That sound's coming from underwater?" Indeed, the sound seemed to be coming from in the lake. But what could it be? But then Becky remembered an old legend that her grandma had told her many times before.
"No..."she whispered. "It can't be. But that was just a legend." Suddenly, there was a tremendous noise and something like a spear burst through the ice. It was quickly followed by a head, then a streemlined body, then a tail fluke. It twisted through the air and crashed through the ice once more, causing a huge splash that soaked Becky and Aurora. Then the head of the creature popped up through one of the holes in the ice. There was no mistaking what it was.
"I don't believe it!" Becky cried. "It's a Narwi!" Aurora jumped about excitedly and sqealed. The Narwi looked at thm both.
"Who are you?" it said. It a fully grown female. It's purple skin glistened.
"Umm..." mumbled Becky. She wasn't quite sure how to begin. She'd just met a mythical creatu that she had always though was....not real. The Narwi seemed to roll it's eyes.
"I said, who are you?" it seemed a little impatient.
"Umm.....I'm Becky." Becky managed to pull herself together long enough to reply. "And this is Aurora." She indicated Aurora, who had now calmed down a little. Aurora squeaked.
"My name is Luna." the Narwi said. "Not that it should be of any business of yours, human. What are you doing here?"
"I was out hunting Tesuri eggs." Becky explained. "But then I heard some sort of song and Aurora raced off. She led me here."
"That was me." Luna said."Did you like my song? It was fantastic, wasn't it?"
Yes..." she said. "It was a great song. You have a great voice." That wasn't strictly true. It was nice but it wasn't quite like a human singing. And to be honest, Becky had heard a Mirabilis sing before, and she had prefered that. Luna seemed happy.
"Thankyou!" Luna said. "We Narwi are very proud of our voices. I don't suppose that you'd like to hear some more of my song right now?"
"Yes, please." Becky said. Aurora squealed and nodded her head. Luna smiled.
"Very well." Luna began to sing that mysterious song with no words. It seemed to have a strange effect on Aurora, who closed her eyes and relaxed.
"Aheeaa..." she purred. Becky closed her eyes and let the Narwi song fill her head. And now she knew where the Narwi lived. The legendary creatu that she had longed to see all her life.
In the days that followed, Becky and Aurora would return and visit the Narwi again and again. Becky may not have found any Tesuri eggs that day, but she had found something better...
......a friend.
