Her silky flame-colored hair flowed just past her shoulders. She stared at me with her stone like eyes, showing distinctive flames dancing dangerously in her pupils. her skin was pale, only sprinkled with a few golden freckles. Her lips were thin, and rose in a small smile.
She was dressed neatly in scarlet, sapphire and a sun yellow, embroiled here and there with gold lace. A nice no-sleeved top covered a crisp white top. Hanging from her waist was a two-layered skirt, held up by a leather belt. A majestic cloak trailed behind her, waving gaily in the breeze. Her finger-less gloves reached up to her elbows, in perfect harmony with her boots.
I sat back to admire her, proud of my handy-work.
I look closer as i see a slight moment on the paper... she twirled her fingers, causing a red glow to waver out of them. A spark shot out, a single flame burst into a frenzy of heat... burnt up her arm, flickering, yet she was unharmed. Smoke curled around the room and I strained to see through the grey cloud. My eyes started to swell up and water as the smoke flooded into them. I had to look away. Finally, the smoke cleared, leaving a plain white paper, with no marks, no scruples, no sign that anything had been there.
I felt a sudden wave of heat burn the side of my neck I flung my hand to it automatically, as if i'd been stung... i turned my head to see a trail of red sparks floating to the ground, and a hole through my window. Something strange was happening.
And snake crept up my spine, making me shiver with the heat of it. I lay back on my bed muttering, still clutching my neck. I inspected it in the mirror... it was a flame, red, i mean bright red, not like skin red. But it was like a tattoo.
I felt... dizzy... strange... different...
There was scorch marks on my bed cover when i woke up. I must have passed out...
“There we go,” I said to Dew, my Tesuri as I took a step
back.
"Love it!" she replied.
“Well, I think I’m done!”
I gazed at my wall. Beautiful.
It was placed in the depths of the sea, where the water was calm and creatures thrived freely. There was no predators, no prey. Just peace.
Murrens glided, their fins floating up and down as they glided gracefully. Playing gently, the Draqua sent showers of sand into the sea misting it, leaving the sea clouded on it bed. Gilding about, Quelis were almost camouflaged into the sea. Young Sirleon chased their mothers tails, giggling as they let the sea guide them.
A perfect world! I thought.
I felt like I was in the water myself, everything around me seemed so – real.
The water floated around me; I could see the reflections in
the creatures eyes dance about. The Murrens fins glided, perfectly stream-lined.
I knew the paint was still wet… but this was different. I could feel the water
moving around me, the liquid was so wet, so blue… I reached out to touch it,
almost in a trance… everything swirled around me, making me dizzy…
"Fern? Fern, honey, where are you?"
I heard her voice echo up the stairs, followed by her footsteps.
I sat up. Then I realized - my suitcase was still on floor, in sight. I jumped out of bed, but slipped on my carpet and smashed my head on my bed. Despite that, i got up quickly, and thrust my suitcase under my bed, then jumped up on my bed.
"Honey, are you okay up there?"
"Yes Mum," I replied, "I'm fine!" I said, snatching up a notebook and pen which were lying on my bedside table.
"What was that bump?" asked her voice sounding worried.
"Oh, I just dropped something!" I answered quickly. Maybe too quickly, because she came running to my room suspecting i was lying.
"Can I come in dear?"
"Yes," i sighed.
"What are you doing?"
"Just a bit of drawing." i lied
"Ok," she said, "Well, anyway, dinners ready, so come and eat."
I got up and went downstairs.
Mmm... smells lovely i thought.
I stopped suddenly. Maybe I shouldn't go...no i must.
I walked into the dinning room and sat down. Roast dinner... good.
After dinner, i told Mum and Dad i would pack up the dinner and put it in the fridge so they could go to bed. I could see they were suspicious, but they left me to it.
I soon came to realize I wasn't in my bedroom. I wasn't where i was supposed to be. As my brain adjusted to my surrounding, I took a look around. I felt strange, my mind felt like a camera. My vision was so much better, i could feel my eyes adjusting to each ob
ject I looked at, exactly like a camera, but my sight was so much sharper and better. As well as focusing on objects, Everything around me wasn't blurred like a camera, i could still see it perfectly, just not as good as what i was focusing on. All around me, everything was glowing, radiating warmth. Colors shone out in patterns, like the northern lights, waving in reds, oranges, yellows, gold and and deep pink.
I was abruptly disturbed from my staring by a sharp rap on the door. I froze, keeping silent for a second as I thought of what to do...
