Chaper one; Introduction
It was midnight.
A little green pup sat on the edge of a cliff, looking off into the meadow down below. Not to far away a stream murmured quietly. The wind whispered in the male Zenirix's ears. His yellow eyes were watchful as he stared up into the midnight blue sky where stars glistened like little diamonds. For once his playful nature had left, it was only an act for his owner so not to make her upset. He looked down toward the little stream that cut into the meadow like a clear blue gash. The wind ruffled his sleek, cleaned, and glistening fur that turned silver under the full moon above. /Soon.../ He thought to himself. /Soon, Master Taylor shall reunite me with my long lost brother, Shadow. It's a shame we got separated.../ He sighed and looked back up toward the sky once more. /It's hard to believe that me and him are up under the same moon, and the same sky, but... We're not together./ Farley had been separated from his black furred brother, a black Zenirix, ever since he could remember. He had spent sleepless nights worrying about him and dreaming that one day he would be reunited with him before it was his time to leave the planet to never come back again. The pup sighed, pain clear in his dim yellow eyes. "Thank god no one has noticed my change in emotions..." He whispered to no one in particular. A small smile caressed his lips and his small puppy fangs showed, though not menacingly, his face held more of a playfully gentleness in it. "But soon!" He shouted happily, standing up ontop of the unsteady rocks of the cliff. "Soon, I shall be reunited with my brother! And we'll go every where together, we'll do everything together, and best of all, we'll never be separated again!" He shouted happily toward the sky, suddenly a wild fire of fervor rose up in his eyes, making his yellow eyes sparkle and glow with the rowdiness he always seemed to have around people and other pets, though deep inside he was suffering.
"That is, if she can afford it, Farley." The Zenirix spun around, his ears back and his once happy and gentle smile now shown malice and malevolence, showing to be very deadly, a large snarl emitted from his clasped teeth. His ears were tilted back and he laid low in a crouching position, his yellow piercing eyes where narrowed with anger and a protected gaze, once again putting on that poker face and hiding his emotions like he always did. The purple eyes where what caught his attention first, they slowly approached him out of the darkness with deliberate slowness. Then soon, he spotted the ginger fur and the bat like ears, instantly, he knew what it was and sighed shaking his head. "Crimson!" He growled with frustration, though no more intention to harm burned in his eyes. His ears where pulled straight forward again and he plopped back down on the edge of the cliff, his muzzle clamped shut. Farley's yellow eyes where averted from the bat-like creature and directed toward the ground in front of him or his green paws. The unusually colored Myotis laughed quietly. "What, did I scare you? And that's CRIMSON to you. Forget that last part." Crimson walked over to Farley and sat down beside him, so finally the moonlight cascaded down ontop of him, revealing his ravishing beautiful ginger fur, his large bat-like ears erect with curiosity. His large purple eyes making him look innocent and sweet. His back legs where a creamish white along with his ears, but his tail as an array of colors. At the tip it was yellow, a golden yellow-orange, and then it hit the cream colored white, and below that was a rich brown. The rest of his tell was his scarlet like fur. Probably why their owner had named him Crimson. "I don't see what's so spelly about me, I mean seriously, Farley? Why do you get the cool name and yet I get spell at the end of mine? Seriously, do I look MAGICAL to you? HONASTLY? What was wrong with our caretaker when she named me, what was-" Farley didn't catch the rest of the Ginger Myotis's rant. He had completely ignored it, getting used to it by now. Crimson always started that rant, but deep inside, Farley had a good idea that he was just trying to change the subject to help make him feel better. After all, him and Crimson had been together ever since birth, and have been closer to each other then most pets, so a bond had formed between them that kind of told the other when the other was upset. Crimson shut up instantly, realizing it wasn't working. His poison purple eyes sparkling with concern for the little green pup. Though Crimson didn't like to admit it and didn't want Farley to know he was worried about him, so he sneered, his little sharp fangs glittering in the moonlight. "What's wrong with you, Farley? You act like you've just gotten into a fight with Saborr and made him cry. Man, that boy is too innocent." Farley glanced up at Crimson who sat staring off past the meadow into something in the darkness of the oblivion that wasn't lit up by the moons rays. Giving the place a slightly eerie look. Farley sighed quietly, glancing away from him. Crimson glanced down out of the corner of his peripheral vision. Watching him once more.
Long moments of silence p*censored*ed before finally Farley spoke, his voice rough with pain. "It's nothing Crimson... Just.... Just forget it." Farley stood up and faced the opposite way as if getting ready to walk away. "Woah, woah, woah! Where do you think your going?" Crimson suddenly rushed in front of Farley, who seemed to tower above him because the Myotis was so much smaller then him. Farley's head lowered and he growled revealing rows of sharp glistening teeth. "Leave. Me. Alone." He snapped, his voice clipped with poison dripping from every word. Crimson's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Hey, look, I was just trying to help." Farely paused, his snarl caught midway between his throat. He looked down and didn't say anything, his ears dropping downward. Crimson stared at him for the longest of moments before he walked over to him, and stood up on his two feet, wobbling a little. He then gently laid his paw on him, a small gentle smile forming. "Hey, look, it's ok... Don't be upset, I understand that as of late you've been missing your brother..."
"You don't understand anything. You have your brother, Vyncent." Crimson rolled his eyes but continued trying to cheer him up. He just couldn't stand seeing Farley like this any longer. "Don't criticize me." Crimson snapped playfully and continued. "Seriously, though, that's not the point. Point, is that our Caretaker knows how much your brother means to you, and she'd do anything to get him back for you. Don't worry, in the end we'll get him." He patted his back gently and then sighed. "Besides, we all know you'll just get jealous, just like you did with the rest of us. When Master began to show Saborr all the attention I remember you stealing everything away from him in the middle of the night." This earned Crimson a small barely noticeable smile, but it was just enough to make Crimson happy. "Heh, yeah... I remember."
"So just look at it like this, wait until everything clears out an in the end, you'll have your brother." Farley nodded and smiled gently. "Thanks Crimson, your a true friend." Crimson rolled his eyes and smiled. "Yeah, but I swear, god s help me, on your grave Farley, that if you tell ANYONE I went all nice and softy on you, I'll put you IN that grave!" Crimson nailed him in the shoulder, teasingly. "Ok, Ok, I get it, Mr. Immakillyouifyouevermentionthisagain."
"Oh, just shut up and go back to being upset. Your misery makes me HAPPY!" Farley and Crimson both laughed, and for once Farley felt happy. For once he actually didn't mind being around all the others, and for once he didn't have to act at all, it was true original happiness. An actual smile of happiness and joy. For once, Farley didn't feel alone.
