The Spirit Quest

Prologue
The sky was empty but surrounded the mother earth causing a shadow upon the bearing of the setting sun. With the lights gone a powerful gust shivered around the empty surrounded and whipped around the empty pit.
With little sounds but a small broken twig, a creature appeared between the two pine trees. With bright orange fur it took graceful but balancing steps toward the pit.
The stars lit up as if the presence of the creature was a rare sighting. When really it was.
With the silence air still above, the wind made a fast slash, and with a bam it jumped to the ground. A stealthier creature with sandy fur and wise eyes appeared, as if it was carried by the wind. It to snuck over to the pit.
Standing across from each other the Puma shook it fur as if it had an uncomfortable feeling. It stared down at the Fox in silence.
Fox took no knowledge of her and looked into the pit. He didn’t know why he was here? Why they still came? There was no place left for the spirits but to take the journey alone. Why even come?
“Fox, stop speaking of such negativity, this is a meeting of the sky. Take it as is and hold your comp*censored*ion up higher.” said the deep and powerful voice of the Bear.
Fox didn’t want to do so, but who could argue with the power of Bear.
“Its time, all of the mother natures creatures have grown in seasons after seasons. Even with the wisdom,” the puma nodded, “the power of the sky,” bear boomed knowing himself, “even the balance,” Bear eyed fox, “and the other creatures that take the journey!” Every animal had appeared now.
One being the rabbit with its nervous twitch of its nose and its eyes darting around. Another the snake who stayed coiled up ready to lunge if challenged. Even the most high honored buffalo stood tall.
“Let the time for our meeting begin!” Bear shifted a paw rising it above his head and brought it down with such a force it slammed onto the fire pit and lit it with a bang! Every animal was in ‘awe’ even if they’ve seen it happen many times before.
The armadillo was hiding in his shell while the skinny coyote simply scratched his ear with his hind leg. Everyone had their own appeal to power.
“Now with the meeting begun and the fire that burns before our paws we have a strong bold union.” Bear puffed out his chest with powerful grace and continued, “Does anyone have anything to address under the sister moon or confess."
“I do.”
Everyone looked to the front of the pit at the sandy fur and piercing eyes of the puma. With her calming look she held her head high.
“Please speak Puma.” Bear announced
“I have seen us grow like the trees all around us as we take children and nurture them through the spirit journey. But theses days very little go through this, am I right?”
All the animals gave out a yell, but fox did not.
“Even with this problem, I’ve seen one young girl come, but no animal could approach her, why is this?” no animal spoke, “Cause it was one for Fox. Fox hasn’t taken a child in years. He has isolated himself from us all! I say he stand up and take her! Right, Fox?”
Fox said noting…
“Fine, if you will not take her we should just banish you. Why have such a powerful force when you are selfish and keep it!”
All eyes laid on Fox even Bear looked at him suspiciously.
“Puma you speak your wisdom but with fire, why not see if Fox will decide his future.” Beat spoke up for Fox but was unsure of himself.
“I have not taken a child for years, why? None are like the Fox and will never be like the Fox.” Fox spoke his words calmly he knew what he wanted.
“Selfishness! You lie like the silent snake that gives no warning to its victims!”
“Puma! With your wisdom and quick decisions you give Fox no chance, let him think.” Bear gave a warning growl while puma hissed.
“Puma is right, Fox does nothing, remember when the child a year ago came, he ignored that child and no one cared then.” The coyote snickered.
“Very well, Fox you have not shared your gifts to the youth who seek your guidance! If you do not take this child between your paws, I banish you from this land to walk alone!” Bear roared his vows of warning. Bear slashed his paws at the fire ending the meeting. Everyone left but Fox, he stayed to stare at the ashes and think…
